unforgettable2016smallI was so glad that A&E brought Unforgettable when I was sure it was going to be canceled after the last season ended. And this season has been great, even with the cast changes. I miss Eliot (Dallas Roberts) and Joanne (Jane Curtin) especially, but Alani “La La” Anthony as Delina the M.E., Kathy Najimy as Sandra the boss, and E.J. Bonilla as cutie Denny have been great additions. In the latest episode, the body of a young woman was found buried on the beach, and Carrie and Al found and arrested her killer and his accountant (or so they thought). Unfortunately, they were shot at and had to take cover from the bad guys and the coming hurricane in Precinct 51, which was closed for renovation with only an administrative assistant and a green cop (on the job literally four days) on the premises. The bad guys found them, but Denny and Jay drove through the storm to back them up, and they were able to take all the bad guys down, including the accountant…who turned out to be the actual big bad boss. I loved at the end when they met at the boardwalk and Carrie gave out shots to everyone, toasting to Al and to the others for coming to their assistance.

Tonight was supposed to be the two episodes leading up to next week’s final two of the season, but A&E decided to air four episodes tonight, which includes the season finale. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean that it’s the final episode of the SERIES, although since we haven’t heard any renewal news yet and they’re airing four episodes in one night, I have a feeling that news won’t be good. I really hope we get some resolution tonight on a few things. One, Carrie and Al. They’ve been hinting off and on all season that there’s something going on, although they’re either not exclusive or not serious or something, what with her (now ex) husband showing up a few times and their kiss. I WANT to see Carrie and Al kiss and become official, darn it! Also, I would love to get some resolution to Carrie’s sister’s murder. That story line has been a big part of her history since episode one.

On tonight’s first episode, “Game On,” when a young man turns up dead inside a popular haunted-house attraction, Carrie and Al are called in to investigate and soon find themselves in a world of high-stakes video games and hi-tech corporate espionage. Then on the second episode, “About Face,” when a hot lead turns up in a cold case of a missing surgeon, Carrie and Al find themselves on the trail of two con artists. But unmasking the truth may have explosive consequences.

On the third episode, “Bad Company,” when Captain Russo is suspected in the murder of an informant, Carrie and Al enter into a cat-and-mouse game with a crooked former cop. And finally, on the season finale, “Paranoid Android,” when a shooter on the loose triggers a flashback that doesn’t add up with Carrie’s perfect memory, the team at Major Crimes discovers that a nefarious conspiracy is at play and trained killers are among them.

Enjoy the mini-marathon and see how the season (possibly series?) ends tonight on A&E starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef: Junior, American Diner Revival, Hawaii Five-0, Hell’s Kitchen, Blue Bloods, & Burgers, Brew & ‘Que.

legendsoftomorrowsmallTonight, the DC TV universe gets a little bit bigger – and a lot more timey-wimey – as The CW kicks off DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This series has been a long time coming. It seems like much of the current seasons of The Flash and Arrow have been spent getting the pieces in place for this spin-off.

The series centers around time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill, Doctor Who), who assembles a team of heroes and villains to help prevent the world’s destruction. If you’ve been watching the other DC shows on The CW, this new super-powered group will look very familiar: Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber, Alias) & Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh) – who together form Firestorm – The Atom (Brandon Routh, Chuck), White Canary (Caity Lotz, Arrow), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell, Prison Break) & Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller, Prison Break), and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) & Hawkman (Falk Hentschel).

I can’t wait to see how this team comes together, what kind of time-bending adventures await them, and how it will tie into the DC TV universe. I’m also curious to see how Vandal Savage managed to survive after his last confrontation with members of this superteam…and what kind of evil plan he is hatching now.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot, Part 1,” Time Master Rip Hunter puts together his diverse team to fight immortal villain Vandal Savage, who is on the verge of destroying humanity in 2166.

Check out the new group of crime fighters tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Life in Pieces, Angel from Hell, Heroes Reborn, The Blacklist, The 100, Baskets, Top Chef, Recipe for Deception, Colony, Workaholics, and Idiotsitter.

Last week, Younger returned to TV Land to kick off its second season. Liza’s daughter Caitlyn returned home from India but decided not to stick around after she saw her mother making out with Josh, and she went off to live and work with her father for a few weeks. Ever since he learned that Liza was actually 40, Josh became obsessed with her age. Plus, he now had to lie to his friends and her coworkers to keep up Liza’s charade – and this started to put a strain on their relationship. Meanwhile, Kelsey was getting tired of being neglected at work and almost took an offer to go to another publisher. However, Charles offered her her own imprint for 20-somethings and the ability to select her own team. Josh had convinced Liza to at least tell Kelsey the truth about her age. However, just as she was about to, Kelsey shared the good news about her promotion, how she wanted Liza to join her team, and how exciting it would be to have a bunch of 26-year-olds working together. And so Liza decided that it wasn’t the right moment to come clean. However, my favorite story line from the premiere was Diana’s embarrassing one-sided flirting with Charles, followed by her being stuck in a dentist’s chair, unable to speak, as the hot young doctor flirted with Charles right above her.

This show was one of my favorite new series last year – another great show from prolific producer Darren Star! I look forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out. How long can Liza keep her secret? Do Liza and Josh have a future together, or will she move on to start a relationship with Charles? (They seem perfect for one another.) I’m really happy to have this show back on my TV!

A tip for folks who don’t get TV Land in HD: The series is also airs on Nickelodeon (though sometimes not on the same day).

On tonight’s episode, “Like a Boss,” Liza and Kelsey launch a new imprint while facing online criticism.

See how the new imprint goes for Liza and Kelsey tonight on TV Land at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Criminal Minds, The Middle, The Goldbergs, black-ish, Second Chance, Arrow, Supernatural, Man Seeking Woman, Face Off, and Teachers.

chicagofire119smallThe last new episode of Chicago Fire was part of the big crossover event. Once Hermann was found on the floor at the back of the bar, the team gathered at the hospital where he was being treated. Freddie had apparently gotten a good shot in, because Hermann was in bad shape. Cruz felt really bad about it, since he’d been the one to bring Freddie into the firehouse in the first place, so he went all renegade and tried to find Freddie by questioning a gang leader. He nearly got his head shot off, but Severide arrived just in time with the truck, which prompted the gang leader to let Cruz go with a warning. Meanwhile, Mouch proposed to Trudy, although it was kind of a spur of the moment thing and not very elegant. So she basically turned him down. Later, he got the chance to apologize and explain where his head was at, and she turned it around and asked him, with the cutest proposal I’ve seen in a while. And of course, Hermann continued to heal in the hospital throughout the other two episodes of the crossover, and they finally caught Freddie and hauled him off to jail.

We pick back up this week and it’s obviously been a while since the stabbing, since Hermann’s back at work. Chili is still acting really strange. Her character has really become…weird this season. Last season I didn’t really like her because she seemed so rah-rah, gotta sell my product and I was worried she would take advantage of Hermann. This season, especially the last couple of episodes, she’s just been all over the place emotionally. I don’t know if it’s drugs or some mental issue or what, but it’s going to start affecting her work even more than it already has, and I hope it doesn’t begin to endanger Brett or any of the fire crew!

On tonight’s episode, “The Path of Destruction,” a tornado threatens the city. Chili and Brett lock heads when Chili makes a critical mistake, prompting Brett to report to Chief Boden regarding Chili’s erratic behavior. Meanwhile, Otis pleads for Dawson to help him solve his women troubles, and Severide is asked to lend assistance to Agent Alex Ward (guest star Liza Bennett) from the Department of Homeland Security.

See if they can stay out of the tornado’s path and what Severide can do for Homeland tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped, Hollywood Game Night, NCIS, Team Ninja Warrior, Grandfathered, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Chicago Med, Junk Food Flip, The Little Couple, NCIS: NOLA, & The Shannara Chronicles.

almostroyal118smallTonight, fake British aristocratic siblings Poppy (Amy Hoggart) and Georgie Carlton (Ed Gamble) are heading back across the pond to continue their tour of America in Almost Royal. This quasi-reality series takes a similar format to comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s many films and TV series, such as Da Ali G Show, Borat, and Bruno, where the actors remain in character the whole time but interact with real people who aren’t in on the joke and get real reactions.

I really enjoyed the first season – these rich, dim-witted, completely out of touch with reality Brits are hilarious to watch. The actors play dumb really well, and I am constantly finding myself laughing at their antics. I’m looking forward to seeing what type of adventures Poppy and Georgie get up to this season!

Tonight’s second season premiere features back-to-back new episodes. First up, in “Beauty,” Poppy and George return to the U.S. to look at the art of beauty and visit a school to learn to perfect blow-drying; judge a competition for beautiful babies; and take part in a beauty pageant. They also run into Mario Lopez. Then in, “The Great Outdoors,” the Carltons explore the outdoors and get up and close with Floridian wildlife; hike a trail with real Americans; and save lives on a popular beach.

Catch the first two episodes of the season on BBC America at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Supergirl, Superstore, Telenovela, and War & Peace.
