It’s been way too long (January 1!) since we last saw Brooklyn Nine-Nine, especially since they ended it on such a huge cliffhanger! Gina was hit by a bus! I’d actually forgotten that until I started watching the screener for this new episode. Then it hit me. (Doh. 😉 ) That was the episode that dealt with the prison break, where Amy and Jake were competing to see who could capture the most – the loser would then move into the winner’s apartment. Even though Jake won, he was very sweet (and honest! LOL) when he conceded that Amy’s place was better and he wanted to move in with her. It was a great moment for them and a fun episode overall…until Gina walked out and was hit by a bus!

Thankfully, the show is back tonight. I really missed it, and I was very happy with the new episode. We get an answer right off as to Gina’s fate (It’s a comedy. She’s a major character. Do you really think she’s going to die?!), and the episode as a whole is just as funny as always, especially because we see not only one character’s ex, but TWO!

On tonight’s episode, “The Audit,” with the crime rate lowered, Brooklyn will be shutting down one of its precincts – permanently. The Nine-Nine is confident they will be evaluated fairly, until the official auditor turns out to be Amy’s ex-boyfriend, Teddy (guest star Kyle Bornheimer). The whole squad then must band together to try to save the precinct. Jama Williamson also guest stars.

To see what Teddy decides about the Nine-Nine, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, American Housewife, Prison Break, Trial & Error, Imaginary Mary, & Chopped.

Tonight, Better Call Saul kicks off its third season on AMC. When we last left off, Jimmy had purposely altered his brother’s legal documents in order to steal Mesa Verde as a client. Chuck blamed his electromagnetic hypersensitivity for his absentmindedness; however, he suspected that Jimmy had something to do with the error. Chuck quit his job at the firm, had a panic attack that sent him to the hospital, and was back to wearing his tin foil hat around his darkened house. Jimmy felt bad and confessed to his brother what he had done, but he was unaware that Chuck had arranged the situation and had recorded the conversation. Meanwhile, Mike’s plan to execute Hector Salamanca was interrupted by a blaring car horn, and when he went to stop the noise, he found the word “Don’t” written on his vehicle.

Who left the note for Mike, and why didn’t the author want Hector killed? The general theory is that it was Gus Fring – are we going to see how those two first partnered up? How does Chuck plan to use this recording against his brother? Now that he knows that there was nothing physically wrong with him, will he abandon his paranoid ways and become the top lawyer he once was? And how will the existence of this tape affect Kim and Saul’s relationship, which is ultimately doomed, given where Breaking Bad picks up? I have been thoroughly enjoying this prequel series, and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go this season and what connections to the original series will pop up.

On tonight’s premiere, “Mabel,” Jimmy and Chuck’s relationship deteriorates; Kim feels the pressure of running her own firm; and Mike investigates the note left on his car.

If you missed any of the second season, AMC will be running a marathon of the entire second season starting at 11:30AM ET today. Otherwise, catch the start of the new season tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, Bates Motel, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, and Angie Tribeca.

Tonight, ABC kicks off the new reality competition series, The Toy Box, which finds aspiring toy inventors competing for a deal with Mattel to manufacture and distribute their product at Toys ”R” Us stores across the country. In the first half of each episode, toy makers meet with host Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) and then present their prototypes to a panel of mentors. This panel includes Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren, professional toy reviewer Jim Silver, and Pixar Creative Director of Consumer Products Jen Tan. If the majority of the mentors vote for the product, the inventor will then present his or her toy to the judges in the “Toy Box” – but they don’t yet know that those judges are actually a group of four 7-9 year-old kids. The judges include no-nonsense, tough Brit Sophia Grace Brownlee (The Ellen Degeneres Show), sweet 8-year-old Aalyrah Caldwell (Uncle Buck), 9-year-old constructive-criticizer Toby Grey (The Unexpected John Cena Prank), and brutally honest 7-year-old toy expert Noah Ritter (The Ellen Degeneres Show). The judges get a chance to ask the inventors some questions and play with each of the toys before they use giant Magic 8 Balls on the wall to let the inventors know which one of them will advance to the finals and be one step closer to having their product become a reality.

The series feels very similar to Shark Tank – in fact, I’m pretty sure one of tonight’s contestants actually appeared on one of the few episodes of that show that I’ve actually seen! However, the mentors aren’t the brutal ones. They leave that up to the kid judges. It is so much fun to watch these kids ask their sometimes ridiculous questions, and I love the way they hold nothing back when it comes to critiquing the toys. I find it so refreshing because, while some of what they say is awful, it feels very honest and not done out of spite. Noah is easily the star of these kids (I doubt anyone hasn’t seen at least one of his “Apparently Kid” videos on the internet). There is no telling what is going to come out of his mouth. And you can tell that Sophie Grace really enjoys playing that nasty Brit judge that every reality competition show needs to have. Eric Stonestreet is also present while the kids question the inventors and test the products, and it’s a lot of fun to see him try to rein in these kids and keep things on track. Not only are the judges entertaining, but some of the products these people have come up with are pretty cool, and it’s interesting to hear what type of work, money, and reasoning went into developing each toy. I look forward to checking out more episodes of this show.

On tonight’s premiere, “Episode 101,” inventions include a multicultural singing doll, a wacky worm, and a party cannon.

Check out the new inventions and the kid judges tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

Tonight, Archer moves to FXX as the series kicks off its eighth season. This show is constantly finding fun, unique, new ways to reinvent itself to keep things fresh and interesting. The sixth season’s “Archer Vice” put the gang in the drug business, and in the seventh season, the group moved to Los Angeles to start a private detective firm, The Figgis Agency. Last season ended in a bit of a cliffhanger – Sterling Archer was seemingly dead, floating in a pool, with blood running out of bullet holes in his body.

So how will the show reinvent itself this year? The new season, titled “Dreamland,” picks up three months later, with Archer in a coma. As he lies sleeping in his hospital bed, there is an elaborate story taking place in Archer’s dreams. It is 1947, and Archer is a hardboiled private eye who discovers that his partner, Woodhouse, has been murdered. As Archer looks for the killer, he crosses paths with all of his real-world acquaintances, each with a new role to play in this noir fantasy world inside his head. [Note from Jenny: So…sort of like Bones? LOL]

I appreciate how the series creators are willing to shake things up each season and give viewers something fresh and new, while also maintaining the same fun and spirit of the show that fans are used to. I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this mystery plays out and how they have fun re-purposing characters in Archer’s dream world. It looks like there are going to be lots of twists and turns to Archer’s dreamland case.

There’s also a fun new interactive element to the show this year. There’s a newly released augmented reality app for phones/tablets that fans can use while watching the series to solve cases like Archer or enter giveaways to win cool prizes. More information on the free app can be found here: NoReruns.net

On tonight’s premiere, “Archer Dreamland: No Good Deed,” Archer tries to find out who killed his partner but accidentally gets in bed with Mother, a notorious L.A. crime boss.

Meet Mother and see Archer’s dream world tonight on FXX at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Speechless, Modern Family, black-ish, Designated Survivor, Survivor, Criminal Minds, Brockmire, Schitt’s Creek, Hollywood Darlings, The Magicians, The Expanse, Major Crimes, and Nobodies.

Sometimes, there are no words for how much sheer joy television brings us viewers. Fans of Gilmore Girls were certainly that happy when they learned the show was returning. For me? I’m not sure I’ve ever been as happy as I was when I learned they were bringing Prison Break back from the dead, even if it is just a short 9-episode season! I was SO SAD when the series ended after only four seasons, especially with how they left the group from Fox River… Michael was killed, and Sara was pregnant… I mean, come on!

Wait. Michael’s dead? Maybe, maybe not. 😉 I mean, it wouldn’t be Prison Break without Michael Scofield, right? I love that all our favorite characters are back: Michael, Lincoln, Sara, Sucre, T-Bag, C-Note, Paul Kellerman… I really am on the edge of my seat, hoping things will work out with Michael and Sara, since Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) is also on the show as Sara’s HUSBAND! What the what??

Kyle got to talk to some of the cast in the press room at SDCC this past summer. Check it out here on NoReruns.net

On tonight’s episode, “Ogygia,” it’s been seven years since Michael was presumed dead, but when clues suggest that he might still be alive, his brother Lincoln reunites with Sara to help track down the truth. The path leads Lincoln to Yemen, as Sucre, T-Bag, and C-Note are pulled back into the action to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.

See what clues lead Lincoln to believe Michael’s alive tonight on FOX at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, NCIS, American Housewife, Trial & Error, Imaginary Mary, Chicago Fire, Chopped, & NCIS: New Orleans.
