hawaiifiveo107smallHawaii Five-0 is off to a strong, exciting start to the season. They’ve chased a bad guy all over town on foot, and then last week they worked with a British MI6 agent to find a terrorist looking to cause nuclear reactors across Europe to meltdown. Thankfully they stopped it JUST before it happened – and then followed the agent to find him about to kill the bad guy responsible for killing his wife with a terrorist bombing. I personally didn’t find it fair that someone else got to kill the guy, but they only shot him when he started to shoot at them, so… This week, Alicia Brown (Claire Forlani), the former FBI profiler Steve asked for help with the serial killer in the first episode of the season, is back, so it should be fun!

On tonight’s episode, “He Moho Hou (New Player),” when FBI Profiler Alicia Brown (Claire Forlani) finds a body in her bed, she is forced to join McGarrett in the hunt for the chess-piece killer. Also, Kono reconnects with a former surfing competitor (Kanya Sesser), who is now a disabled and homeless war vet. Elizabeth Rohm (Law & Order) also guest stars.

See if Alicia, Steve, and the team can catch the chess-piece killer tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, Last Man Standing, MacGyver, & Blue Bloods.

chicagopd105smallLast week’s Chicago PD got a little bit more back to normal after the first episode dealt primarily with the fallout from Voight’s actions after his son’s death. And last week was very timely, given what’s going on in the country right now. When a young white couple was beaten up and the woman went missing in a primarily (all?) black neighborhood basically run by one of the city’s gangs, Intelligence and the rest of CPD had to work to make sure it wasn’t about race but simply about finding the missing woman. Of course, I had to feel for the woman when we figured out her fiancé had gone there to buy drugs and she was collateral damage. Thankfully, they were able to find her, but not before she was horrifically attacked by a guy who had been in prison before for rape. It was a very sad case.

The other big thing was Platt going up against Tay’s former boss, Commander Fogel. In the premiere, he ran into Tay at the hospital and learned she’d been moved to the 21st. So last week, he confronted Platt about going around him (to which she snarked she didn’t… She went above him. Hah!) to get Tay transferred. Then he basically threatened her and told her to move Tay back to his district immediately. When Tay asked her later if things were okay between her and Fogel, Platt said everything was fine…but it isn’t, and I have to wonder if that is part of what is up with tonight scary exciting episode…

On tonight’s episode, “All Cylinders Firing,” when Platt goes to her father Robert’s (guest star Chelcie Ross) house for dinner, she warns him to be careful with his new girlfriend Natalie (guest star Lilia Vassileva). Following dinner, Platt is physically assaulted as she’s getting into her car and is rushed to Chicago Med. Christian Stolte (Mouch from Chicago Fire, and Platt’s husband) also guest stars.

Find out if Platt is going to be okay tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

notomorrow104smallTonight kicks off The CW’s fall premiere week, and joining the network’s Tuesday line-up is new romantic comedy No Tomorrow. Evie Callahan (Tori Anderson, Killjoys) likes order in her life and enjoys making herself lists. However, her life is in a bit of a rut – her boss Deirdre (Amy Pietz, The Nine Lives of Chloe King) doesn’t take her ambitions seriously, and things with on-again/off-again boyfriend Timothy (Jesse Rath, Defiance) are going nowhere. Meanwhile, free-spirited Xavier Holliday (Joshua Sasse, Galavant) has calculated that an asteroid will wipe out mankind in just 8 months and 12 days and has decided to live life to the fullest by checking off everything on his bucket list, which he calls his Apocalyst. When Evie meets Xavier, it’s love at first sight, and even though she doesn’t believe the world is going to end, Xavier’s charming personality and upbeat and adventurous attitude is just what she needs to help add some excitement back into her life. But she’s also a little concerned that Xavier might be crazy, and so Evie enlists the help of conspiracy theorist Hank (Jonathan Langdon, Game On) and nihilist Kareema (Sarayu Blue, Monday Mornings) to help her figure this out.

This is the first new show of the season I’m recommending sight-unseen. However, the premise sounds fun, the show looks pretty promising based on the trailer, and I’ve really enjoyed the cast’s previous work (especially Joshua Sasse in Galavant). I can’t wait to check out tonight’s premiere! Plus, the lighter tone of the series should make it fairly good companion to The Flash in tonight’s CW line-up.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a female procurement manager falls for a freewheeling man who believes the apocalypse is imminent, and the two begin a journey to complete their individual bucket lists.

See how Evie and Xavier meet tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Flash, Halt and Catch Fire, Aftermath, and Chrisley Knows Best.

conviction103smallTonight is another new drama that I’m excited to see: ABC’s Conviction. Hayley Atwell (Marvel’s Agent Carter) plays lawyer and former First Daughter Hayes Morrison, is caught using drugs and is offered a job from her sexy nemesis, NY District Attorney Conner Wallace (played by CSI: New York alum, Eddie Cahill). If she works with his team at the new Conviction Integrity Unit, which reexamines cases where there is a credible suspicion of wrongful conviction, she’ll avoid jail time and will avoid hurting her mother’s Senate campaign. She’s a party girl with a privileged upbringing who is offered a chance to turn her life around.

I was really excited about this show when I saw the trailer. I haven’t seen the pilot, so I have no idea if it’ll be any good or not, but I love the premise, and I love the cast. I didn’t watch Agent Carter, but Hayley Atwell is adorable and I’ve heard she was great in that. Eddie Cahill was one of my favs on CSI: New York, and the others are good too: Daniel Franzese (Looking & Recovery Road), Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead), Manny Montana (whom I recognize from Graceland), not to mention Merrin Dungey (Alias, Once Upon a Time) and Shawn Ashmore (The Following).

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” after joining the Conviction Integrity Unit, Hayes pushes the team to consider the case of Odell Dwyer, a handsome former high school football player who has been in prison for eight years for murdering his girlfriend.

Follow the leads tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

westworld102smallTonight, HBO kicks off its new drama, Westworld. Long before Jurassic Park, writer Michael Crichton told another tale about a theme park gone awry. The 1973 film Westworld, which Crichton wrote and directed, tells the story of Delos, a futuristic amusement park for adults where vacationers spend $1000 a day to stay at either Medievalworld, Romanworld, or Westworld and live out their deepest fantasies. Westworld recreates the Old West with its gunslingers, prostitutes, and saloons, but there are no rules, laws, or judgement in Delos. The parks are populated with realistic androids who are there to fulfill the patrons’ every desire, whether that be carnal or even murder. However, the androids soon started glitching and turned on the guests, who then found themselves in a desperate struggle to survive.

The HBO series is inspired by the original film and comes from executive producers J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan. It will expand the universe and story and delve more into the philosophical questions of right and wrong and just how “human” these artificial beings are. Is it okay to use these androids to act out our deepest desires, or do they have thoughts and feelings like we do? And if so, how long will it be before they rise up and take control of the situation? The series has assembled an all-star cast for its 10-episode first season, including Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth, and Clifton Collins, Jr.

I was a huge fan of the original film, so I can’t wait to check into Westworld tonight!

On tonight’s 75-minute premiere, “The Original,” as theme park guests interact with the automaton “hosts,” the park’s head of programming is alarmed by subtle changes in some of their main attractions, and a rancher’s daughter is reunited with a gunslinger, even though her father might not approve.

Go back to the Old West tonight on HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Madam Secretary, The Simpsons, Son of Zorn, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, Fear the Walking Dead, The Strain, Ash vs Evil Dead, Blunt Talk, and Shameless.
