unreal61smallTonight, Lifetime premieres its new scripted series UnREAL, which follows the behind-the-scenes drama of a fictitious Bachelor-like reality show called Everlasting, where a group of woman compete to win the heart of handsome, rich Brit Adam Cromwell (Freddie Stroma, Pitch Perfect). The series stars Shiri Appleby (Roswell, Life Unexpected) as Rachel Goldberg, a young producer who had a meltdown the prior season, but her amazing ability to manipulate the contestants has series creator Chet (Craig Bierko, Cinderella Man) welcoming her back. And to make things more awkward for her, Rachel’s ex, Jeremy (Josh Kelly, One Life to Live), is a cameraman for the show, and his new fiancée is on-set makeup artist Lizzie (Siobhan Williams, Black Box). The executive producer of Everlasting, Quinn King (Constance Zimmer, Entourage), is ruthless and demands that her staff does anything and everything to create drama, make the contestants fill their assigned character roles and build the show’s narrative.

I’ve seen the first three episodes, and I would have watched more had they been available — I was instantly fascinated, entertained, and completely sucked in. I have never seen an episode of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, but I’ve seen enough reality TV to be able to really relate to what’s going on. UnREAL is a very dark, shocking series — it is absolutely despicable some of the things these producers do to manipulate the contestants and build the desired narrative! The show will have you questioning just how real the drama is on your favorite “reality” shows and wondering what is really going on just outside of the camera’s view. I highly recommend checking this show out tonight.

On tonight’s premiere, “Return,” a producer, Rachel Goldberg, works to manipulate relationships on a dating show in order to film outrageous footage as the series begins.

Don’t miss the fun premiere tonight on Lifetime at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Whispers, The Island, Turn, and Devious Maids.

bones514smallLast week, we got a double episode of Bones, and it was definitely double the treat. First, Bones was confronted with a case that reminded her of her own childhood when a teenage girl’s body was found and it seemed that bullying was the cause…and it was, but not in the way that her bullies actually killed her. She killed herself and made it seem like they had done it. It’s very sad that things like that happen, that bullying is so bad that kids feel like they don’t want to live. As a parent, that’s one of the scariest things we ever have to go through, watching our children get bullied and hoping our children are strong enough to get through it. The second episode was all about the case of the baker ex-cons and the ritualistic killings. Alex Rockwell, whom the team helped put away for the killings, was less than a day from being executed when Brennan found what she thought was evidence to prove he was actually innocent of the crime. She, Booth, and the rest of the squints worked their butts off to find the actual proof they needed, and they did it just in time. Rockwell was saved only moments before the lethal injection would’ve killed him, and Booth and Aubrey were able to arrest the real killer…none other than the bakery owner, Roger Flender. My heart just ached for Rockwell as he accepted his fate and wrote a letter to his son. I was very glad the team was able to solve the case just in time.

That brings us to this week… A few episodes ago, Arastoo left Washington DC for Iran, where his brother was dying. He told Cam that he had to go, as he didn’t want his brother dying alone. Cam was terrified for him, as she knew it wouldn’t be safe for him and he might possibly be arrested. Tonight’s episode is very exciting, as it goes back to that story line when Booth and Cam go over to Iran to rescue him when things become complicated and scary. Plus, Booth’s gambling story line comes back to haunt him and Brennan, which I’m both looking forward to and not! I’ve seen the ep and loved it. It really was everything I’d hoped for and more, but I’m SO GLAD it isn’t the finale! *laugh*

On tonight’s episode, “The Murder in the Middle East,” when a powerful member of the Iranian parliament kidnaps Arastoo (guest star Pej Vahdat) to have him aid in a murder case, Booth and Cam head to Iran, and the rest of the Jeffersonian team must race against the clock to help expose the killer. Meanwhile, Brennan learns the truth about Booth’s growing gambling habit, and she turns to Aubrey for help to keep her and Christine safe from her husband’s menacing bookie.

See if Booth and Cam can save Arastoo and if Aubrey can keep Bones and Christine safe tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Beat Bobby Flay & Lip Sync Battle.

ncis512smallLast week’s NCIS was very emotional. The team, along with Ned Dorneget, was on the search for the group that is recruiting children and teenagers. The episode before that, Gibbs was almost killed when one of those teens blew up himself and a thankfully empty (after Gibbs got the passengers out) bus. The team figured out the group was on the hunt for S-bombs on the black market. McGee and Ned went to Egypt to try to help find the terrorist group’s leader. Unfortunately, that’s where the other six bombs were planted at the hotel they were at, and as Ned was trying to get people away from the hotel, he wasn’t able to stop a man from tripping the laser, which blew the bombs…killing Ned.

Ned was far from my favorite character, but he’d grown up so much from the time he joined the team temporarily. Being on the NCIS cyber team had done him a lot of good. When McGee flew home with his body, we met Ned’s mother…who, it turns out, is CIA. She told Gibbs that it was time to get these guys, so with her and the CIA’s help, The Calling is going down, I can only imagine — but will they take anyone else down with them? Tonight’s season finale should answer that question, but I have my fingers crossed!

On tonight’s episode, “Neverland,” NCIS feverishly investigates the Calling, a global terrorist group that is recruiting teens via the Internet, following a deadly bombing overseas that resulted in Ned Dorneget’s death. Mimi Rogers guest stars as CIA Officer Joanna Teague, Ned’s mother.

Find out if the team can take down the Calling tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

ncisla511smallOn the last new NCIS: LA, a former Marine and expert sniper…escaped from the VA hospital, where he was being treated for severe PTSD, after beating up his nurse and an orderly. Both men ended up being okay, but when Kensi & Deeks went in undercover at the hospital, they learned that the guy was taking unauthorized, illegal drugs…basically so he would be compliant to the people who’d given him the drug. They raced to find him, and Kensi was able to shoot at him and hit him just right so he couldn’t do the assassination the bad guys had set him up to do. In the end, they got him back to the hospital and he was off the drug and reunited with his wife and daughter, back on track to healing and finding peace. It was a great episode for Kensi, given her sniper background and Afghanistan. Hetty had some confidence that she’d be okay, but Granger wasn’t as sure of her. Thankfully, Hetty was right.

Tonight we revisit Arkady and the ship from a couple of episodes ago. That should be fun. And with only one episode left after tonight’s, I’m hoping we see movement on the Deeks/LAPD IA story line!

On tonight’s episode, “Kolcheck A.,” Callen and Sam search for answers when they find dead crew members from the missing oil tanker used in Arkady’s deal with Russia, and also discover Arkady’s personal connection to the ship.

Learn about Arkady’s connection to the ship tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, & Castle.

hawaiifiveo58asmallLast week’s Hawaii Five-0 focused primarily on Kono and her past, her family, and her journey of what was supposed to be around the island but ended up being out into the ocean and back to land after she was caught in the middle of a bad storm, with only an outrigger, her surfboard, and a (waterlogged) satellite phone. Luckily she had a little bit of fresh water and an orange with her as well. She was able to use the phone after drying it out in a bad of rice, just long enough to let Chin know she was in trouble, and she used the orange to catch a fish, something she learned from her mother when she was young. We saw lots of flashbacks to when her mother taught her to surf, and before she left for her trip, we finally met her mother and learned she’d had an aneurysm shortly after Kono became a cop. She can’t speak, can barely move, but she’s in there. She knew enough to say a silent good-bye to Kono before she left and she waved with everyone else once Kono pushed off. In the end, even though the guys used helicopters to try to find her once the storm let up, Kono was able to paddle her way back to land, severely dehydrated, sunburned, and barely alive.

The case was good but honestly a little forgettable, given the main story of Kono’s journey. A man who’d been out of prison for a week was arrested for cooking meth, but he convinced them he’d had to do it or the man who’d ordered him to was going to kill his son, a young man in his early twenties. In the end, Steve and Chin learned that his son was behind it all to begin with, angry with his father for cooking meth and getting sent to prison in the first place, making his son go into foster care when he was a young teenager.

hawaiifiveo58bsmallTonight is the double-episode season finale. We see some familiar faces, and there should be an exciting couple of story lines, much like the finales this show always delivers. Kono and Adam are supposed to be getting married, but given the pictures we’ve seen of Adam recently, I’m hoping there’s a good explanation and the wedding goes on because I love them together.

On tonight’s first episode, “Luapo’I (Prey),” while Five-0 works the case of a murdered bounty hunter who apprehended a dangerous killer, Danny’s ex-wife reveals a shocking secret to him that will change his life forever. Then on the season finale, “A Make Kaua (Until We Die),” on the eve of Kono’s wedding to Adam, Five-0 learns that a stolen nuclear bomb is somewhere on the island and about to be detonated. Also, McGarrett is stunned when Catharine returns to Hawaii, while Chin confronts Adam about his lingering connections to the Yakuza.

Learn Rachel’s secret and see if Kono and Adam tie the knot tonight on CBS at 9/8c & 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Grimm & Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
