Late tonight (early Friday morning), Amazon is putting up the entire first season of Absentia, starring Stana Katic (Castle). Katic plays FBI Agent Emily Byrne, who disappeared while hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers and was later declared dead. Six years later, she’s found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive, and with no memory of her missing years. In the meantime, her husband has remarried. Not only that, but she finds herself implicated in a new series of murders. Patrick Heusinger (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) plays her husband Nick, another FBI agent who struggles with guilt that he stopped looking for Emily. And now he’s supposed to bring her in for the new murders. Wanting to prove her innocence, Emily goes on the run, but she ends up putting herself and her family in even more danger. The show also stars Cara Theobold (Downton Abbey), Neil Jackson (Sleepy Hollow), Angel Bonanni (False Flag), Richard Brake (Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones), Paul Freeman (The Dogs of War), Bruno Bichir (Narcos), and Patrick McAuley (The Conjuring 2).

This may be too much of a drama for me, but I want to support Stana Katic in her first big project after Castle, especially after the way ABC treated her by firing her at the end of (what turned out to be) the final season. And the fact that Patrick Heusinger is quite good-looking doesn’t hurt! LOL

Check out the entire first season on Amazon late tonight/early Friday morning.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Top Chef, Will & Grace, A.P. Bio, Beat Bobby Flay, Chicago Fire, Impractical Jokers, & S.W.A.T..

Last Wednesday, Pop premiered the new comedy Let’s Get Physical. Joe Force (Matt Jones, Breaking Bad, Mom) wasn’t always an overweight slacker, barely making a living as the lead singer of a Guns and Roses cover band. Decades earlier, Joe was the favorite to win the Fifth Annual Aerobics Competition, where his overbearing coach/father Colonel Force – a fitness mogul known as the “Godfather of Aerobics” – told him to win or don’t bother coming home. Joe messed up his routine, losing both the competition and his high school girlfriend Claudia (AnnaLynne McCord, Secrets & Lies, 90210) to rival Barry Cross (Chris Diamantopoulos, Silicon Valley). Joe never did go home after that, until the present day, when his father unexpectedly passes away. In his video will, the Colonel tells Joe that he wants him to man up. He leaves Joe his gym, with the stipulation that his $8 million inheritance will be awarded to the winning gym in the next competitive aerobics championship. Joe contemplates selling the gym and moving on, but after reuniting with the obnoxious Barry & Claudia Cross, he decides to enter the competition. So, with help from his mother, former pageant queen Janet (Jane Seymour, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), Joe starts recruiting a ragtag group of “athletes” to join his team.

I really enjoyed last week’s premiere. The series feels very reminiscent of those films that were prevalent in the 80s, where an underdog team of out-of-shape misfits train to take on the physically fit current champions, who work like a well-oiled machine. I have always loved those movies and look forward to seeing how that kind of story can be told across a longer season of television. Matt Jones and Jane Seymour are hilarious and play well off one another, and Chris Diamantopoulos is also great as the villain you love to hate and look forward to seeing get taken down a peg. This show is an excellent companion for Schitt’s Creek for a solid hour of laughs on Pop. If you missed last week’s premiere, you can find it on On Demand or on Pop’s website.

On tonight’s episode, “The Dancing Criminals,” Joe and Janet craft a plan to win the championship; Joe continues to hang out with his loser band mates; Joe and Janet audition dancers for the Fitness by Force team, while Barry and Claudia begin recruiting dancers for their team.

Learn the plan Joe and Janet come up with tonight on Pop at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Match Game, The Amazing Race, The Blacklist, The X-Files, 9-1-1, Riverdale, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Schitt’s Creek, Waco, The Magicians, and Happy!.

It has been a very tumultuous season on Hell’s Kitchen. Having all these All-Stars come back and compete against each other was a brilliant idea. I was sad to see Robyn go last week because I love her craziness, but I’m hoping that Michelle can win the season in the end.

On tonight’s episode, “Families Come to Hell,” when the families come to visit, the four remaining All-Stars are feeling extra-motivated to succeed. For this week’s challenge, the chefs must choose a gift, each of which contains a secret ingredient on which they must base their dish. They will then anonymously serve their dishes to each family, and whoever gets the most votes wins a day in Malibu with Chef Ramsay and his/her family. Then, actresses Gabrielle Dennis and Anna Konkle join dinner service, during which each contestant will have the opportunity to run the kitchen but will be tested, as certain dishes will have the wrong ingredient.

Find out who makes it to the top three tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Taken and Blindspot.

Tonight, the fourth season of the hilarious Canadian comedy Schitt’s Creek makes its U.S. debut on Pop. The series follows the misadventures of the self-obsessed Rose family, who suddenly found themselves broke and were forced to leave their lavish life in a mansion and move to the small backwoods town of Schitt’s Creek. Johnny (Eugene Levy) comanages the dingy roadside motel where the Roses now live. Meanwhile, his wife, former soap-star Moira (Catherine O’Hara), is constantly dreaming of returning to their former luxurious lifestyle. The couple’s spoiled twenty-something year-old children, David (Daniel Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy), were forced to make the best of their situation, though not without a lot of complaining. Alexis went back to school to get her high school diploma while also working at the local veterinary office owned by Dr. Ted. Meanwhile, David opened an eclectic shop in town with business partner Patrick. As the third season came to a close, Alexis had decided to quit her job as she prepared to graduate and head to college. Meanwhile, David and Patrick admitted that they had feelings for one another and shared their first kiss.

The new season picks up the following day and doesn’t miss a beat. I had forgotten just how much I loved the Roses, as well as the town’s many other offbeat characters, such as unmotivated motel clerk Stevie (Emily Hampshire, 12 Monkeys) and dimwitted town mayor Roland (Chris Elliott). I look forward to seeing more of Moira and her crazy wigs and misguided attempts at fitting in with the townsfolk; seeing how David balances his business and romantic lives with co-worker Patrick, and how he deals with the demons from his dating past; seeing how Alex deals with college, and if there’s a possibility of a reunion with Dr. Ted; and seeing what kind of craziness at the motel that Johnny and Stevie have to deal with. This show is such a light, fun watch that always leaves me wanting to immediately binge more episodes.

On tonight’s premiere, “Dead Guy in Room 4,” Moira feels responsible for a hotel guest’s death; David and Patrick make their romance official.

See how the hotel guest died and why Moira feels responsible tonight on Pop at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, American Housewife, Match Game, The Amazing Race, The X-Files, 9-1-1, Riverdale, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Let’s Get Physical, Waco, The Magicians, Happy!, The Librarians, and Mosaic.

Tonight, the hilarious TBS comedy, The Detour, returns for its third season. Last season, the Parker family moved to New York City, where they ran into Robin’s con-man father, J.R., who managed to get them involved in one of his seedy plans. J.R. was illegally obtaining pieces of an infamous statue of Saddam Hussein that he planned to reconstruct on one of his properties. At the end of the season, J.R. had kidnapped Delilah & Jareb and took them with him to Cuba. After rescuing their children, Robin, Nate, and the kids accidentally found themselves in a boat with Cubans who were defecting to America. However, the Parkers were still wanted by the FBI for the questionable import/exporting business J.R. got them mixed up in.

As the third season begins, the Parkers have been on the run for the past year, traveling from state to state, trying to keep a low profile from the USPIS. They now find themselves in Alaska, during the period when it is sunny 24 hours a day. They are tired of running and decide to try make a home there, but as usual, nothing ever really goes as planned for the Parkers!

This show constantly has me laughing out loud. I love how the series manages to completely reinvent itself each season (even down to the theme song). Each year the Parkers find themselves in some new setting/predicament, and despite their best intentions, things only get worse for them as the season progresses. However, dumb luck always seems to prevail with the Parkers. I also really enjoy the show’s no-holds-barred humor. The writers don’t worry about being politically correct, and no situation is too inappropriate. The cast is fantastic and really play well off one another. Jason Jones & Natalie Zea make Nate and Robin feel like a realistic couple, and the actors who play their children (Ashley Gerasimovich & Liam Carroll) are hilarious. This season, Graham Greene (Longmire) joins the cast as one the Parkers’ new Alaskan neighbors.

On tonight’s premiere, “The Run,” the Parkers finally settle in Alaska after a year on the lam, believing it to be the last place anyone would look for them, but their lies and deceits soon come back to haunt them.

Catch up with the Parkers in Alaska tonight on TBS at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording This Is Us, LA to Vegas, The Mick, The Flash, Black Lightning, and Mosaic.
