scorpion321smallOn last week’s Scorpion, Walter was in a car accident, which wasn’t a big deal, but because he’d hit his head, he had to go to the hospital. While waiting, he met a young girl who was there to get a heart transplant. Unfortunately, before that could happen, a patient was rushed in and Toby recognized the symptoms and convinced the doctors to test his theory. When they did, they realized L.A.’s blood supply had been tainted. They had to race to figure out what happened, and they realized the man who’d created the vaccine to combat the disease (which had previously been eradicated) had purposefully tainted the blood supply by mixing up the labels of the clean blood and the tainted blood that was supposed to go to research. He wanted to be able to sell all the vaccine his company had made before the disease was eradicated. Fortunately, they were able to fix the problem and rescue the clean blood before it was locked away for government testing and just in time to save the little girl who needed the heart transplant. And Walter learned a big lesson about living life and having fun instead of being serious and working all the time. One funny story line was that after Sly’s big win on Price is Right, no other game show will let him come on as a contestant. Poor guy. He really wants to raise enough money to sponsor the hospital wing in Megan’s name.

On tonight’s episode, “Djibouti Call,” while on a secret mission in Djibouti, Africa, with his new Homeland protégé, Tim Armstrong (Scott Porter, Heart of Dixie, Friday Night Lights), Cabe is captured, and Team Scorpion must save him.

Find out how the team rescues Cabe tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cake Wars, Lucifer, NCIS: LA, Blindspot, & Castle.

beyondborderssmallTonight is the series premiere of the newest Criminal Minds spinoff, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. This specialized International Division of the FBI is responsible for solving crimes and rescuing Americans who find themselves in danger while overseas. Heading the International Response Team is Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise, CSI: NY), a 20-year veteran of the Bureau. His team includes Clara Seger (Alana De La Garza, Forever, Law & Order), a smart, well-traveled, and multi-lingual cultural anthropologist; Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney, Three Rivers), a former military hero with split-second profiling skills he honed on the battlefield; Russ “Monty” Montgomery (Tyler James Williams, Everybody Hates Chris), the unit’s compassionate, brilliant tech analyst who additionally liaises stateside with the families of those in trouble while his group is far from home; and Mae Jarvis (Annie Funke), the team’s fearless and fun medical examiner.

I’ve seen the first two episodes, and I think if you’re a fan of the original, you’ll really enjoy the spinoff. Even if you aren’t, I think you should give it a shot. The team has a lot of the same type of chemistry as the original, with a lot of fun personalities. And come on! It’s Gary Sinise! He’s great, of course, but I also REALLY loved the others. Henney’s Simmons and Funke’s Jarvis have a fun relationship, with hints of Morgan and Garcia, but not a romance, because Simmons is happily married with kids. And Monty is a great counterpart for Garcia, although not quite as eccentric. But there’s the difference of being in really cool locations overseas, and the cases are a bit different, as well.

On tonight’s episode, “The Harmful One,” Unit Chief Jack Garrett and his International Response Team (IRT) travel to Thailand when three American volunteers go missing during a trek to Bangkok. They reconnect with former colleague Clara Seger, who helps them rush to gather evidence leading to the UnSub before a storm threatens to wash it away.

Meet the new team tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rosewood, The Goldbergs, Hell’s Kitchen, Modern Family, Property Brothers, Wahlburgers, black-ish, & Donnie Loves Jenny.

crowded315smallTonight, NBC kicks off its new family sitcom, Crowded, with back-to-back episodes. The series finds empty nesters Mike (Patrick Warburton, Rules of Engagement) and Martina Moore (Carrie Preston, True Blood, The Good Wife) finally starting to enjoy their freedom, when their daughters suddenly want to move back in. Bookish Shea (Miranda Cosgrove, iCarly) was the victim of a layoff and can no longer afford to live on her own, while wild child Stella (Mia Serafino, Shameless) is having problems with her boyfriend. And to make matters worse, Mike’s father Bob (Stacy Keach, NCIS: NOLA) and stepmother Alice (Carlease Burke, Switched at Birth) have cancelled their plans to spend their golden years in Florida now that their grandkids are going to be around.

I watched tonight’s first episode and found it to be a pretty standard family sitcom. However, I was surprised that this was an NBC series, because it felt a lot like one of those ABC Friday comedies, though maybe slightly more adult in the humor. However, since the series comes from executive producers Suzanne Martin, Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner, and James Burrows, who have a long history with NBC, that explains it. The cast is great, and I like the premise of the series, so I look forward to checking out tonight’s second episode to see more of what the weekly series is going to be like.

On tonight’s first episode, “Pilot,” Shea and Stella upend their parents’ plans when they move back home after college. Then in tonight’s second episode, “Present Tense,” Mike and Martina hope to re-spark their sex life, which has been dormant since the Stella and Shea moved home. Stella, meanwhile, helps Shea with a dating app.

Meet the newest TV family tonight on NBC at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Limitless, Fresh Off the Boat, The Real O’Neals, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Grinder, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, Chrisley Knows Best, Awkward., and Faking It.

grimm311smallTonight is the 100th episode of Grimm, and it’s going to be an excellent night of television, because last week we were left hanging when those words every TV addict dreads flashed across the screen: “To Be Continued.” When the screen went black, Nick and Monroe had just had the ground cave beneath them while they searched in Germany for the spot the map from the keys led them. However, what they didn’t know was a group of Wesen was right behind them, hunting them because they don’t want the Grimm to get the information.

Meanwhile, back in Seattle, Captain Renard was at a rally for Dixon, where the highly dangerous Marwan was hiding in a nearby apartment building, waiting to take someone out. Marwan got his target and shot Dixon. While the Captain held him, waiting for the ambulance, we were left wondering why and what’s going to happen next.

Also in the episode, Adalind was less than pleased with Nick going on this quest because she feared he was going to get hurt. She then admitted she loved him and wanted to be with him, even if it ended up being a mistake. Nick and Adalind kissed and then had sex, which was definitely moving the story along quickly. I think that if Nick and Adalind really make a go at it, they could be a successful couple, seeing as both of them have changed drastically. Here’s hoping that the writers aren’t just setting us up for an emotional crash.

On tonight’s episode, “Into the Schwarzwald,” Nick and Monroe find a treasure in Germany that has been hidden for centuries. Back in Portland, Capt. Renard help Hank and Wu track down a deadly assassin who has thrown Portland into havoc. Little do they know that Eve is on a hunt of her own for the same man. Meanwhile, someone from Rosalee’s past tracks her down.

To see how this epic 100th episode plays out, tune in to NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, The Amazing Race, Sleepy Hollow, and Girl Meets World.

wahlburgers2016smallOne of my favorite family reality shows, Wahlburgers, is back tonight on a 1-hour season premiere. Last season, it was more of the same for this fun family: Mark tortured Paul, Paul created a new burger for some football friends, Mark and Donnie got to spend time together in NYC when their schedules overlapped, and new Wahlburger restaurants opened in Toronto and Coney Island. Not to mention we got lots of Alma and brother Bob. I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for the Walberg family this go round.

On tonight’s episode, “Directing Drama,” when Johnny Drama looks to take his music career to the next level, Mark suggests Drama make a music video that Mark himself will direct. The music video will be Drama’s Wahlburgers Rap Jingle and shot down in New Orleans where Mark is filming his latest movie. Mark enlists music mogul Sean “P Diddy” Combs and movie director Peter Berg to help mentor Drama. But filming hits a rough patch when Drama is not comfortable with the alter ego “Drama Boy” that Mark creates for him.

Check out the crazy fun tonight on A&E at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rosewood, Hell’s Kitchen, Property Brothers, & CSI: Cyber.
