After a 15-month hiatus, Switched at Birth finally returns tonight to kick of the show’s fifth and final season on Freeform. When we last left off, Regina’s love Eric was wanted for a felony, so he fled with his son, leaving Regina once again lonely and alone. Bay was upset to learn that Travis secretly paid an art gallery to give her an art show but was left speechless when Travis kissed her and declared his feelings for her. Daphne and Mingo decided to take a break from one another for the summer as Daphne contemplated a summer internship assisting deaf children in China. John and Kathryn found a buyer for the car wash, but John was upset to learn that Kathryn had resorted to flirtation in order to knock down the price. And Lily went into labor, giving birth to Carlton Summers Kennish. The season finale then jumped ahead ten months to find Bay working as a tattoo artist in China when she receives an urgent call from Daphne, who is working in a nearby clinic, and Bay exclaims that they have to go home.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this final chapter plays out. What were Bay and Daphne doing in China, and what was said on that phone call that has them rushing back home? What is the status of John and Kathryn’s rocky marriage? Will Regina ever find love again? And what about Travis and Mingo? Have they moved on, or are they awaiting the girls’ return?

On tonight’s premiere, “The Call,” Daphne and Bay receive an emergency phone call while in China and return home, where Daphne readjusts to campus life and Bay feels conflicted about her feelings for Emmett. Meanwhile, Kathryn and John argue about her job; and Regina feels guilty about a secret romance.

Find out what sends Daphne and Bay home tonight on Freeform at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Wall, The Mick, Bones, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Face Off, and Teachers.

Last week, Lucifer made me cry because Lucifer realized his feelings for Chloe are real and she was very interested. Then they solved an intense case involving poisoning and a poison that essentially boils people from the inside out. Unfortunately, even though they stopped the guy responsible, somehow Chloe ended up infected at the end. I’m not sure how they’re going to save her now that the doctor who created it died during Chloe’s trying to capture him. It’s going to make me incredibly upset if they don’t let these two finally be together without some huge disaster happening for at least a few weeks. Although knowing television, it’s all going to tumble down sooner than later.

On tonight’s winter finale, “A Good Day to Die,” Lucifer must find the antidote to the Professor’s poison, so he travels to hell to find the Professor’s soul. While he’s there, he is forced to confront his guilt about Uriel’s death. Mom heads to hell to get Lucifer back, but Lucifer still feels betrayed by his parents because of something he discovers.

Find out if Lucifer can get the antidote before it’s too late tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Timeless and Beyond.

Before I write up my pick for tonight, which is NCIS: LA, I want to take a moment to mention the death of Miguel Ferrer, who played Assistant Director Owen Granger. He passed away last week, I believe due to cancer. He will certainly be missed, both the man and the character. Besides this show, he has starred and guest starred on many shows and movies. I’ll always remember him fondly for both this and Crossing Jordan, where he played Dr. Garrett Macy.

Gah! NCIS: LA is killing me with the break between the episodes of this mole arc! On the previous episode two weeks ago, it seemed like the mole stepped up his or her game and sicced all available alphabet agencies on the members of the NCIS team. A dead body and drugs were found in Sam’s car by DEA. ATF found explosives in Callen’s house. Deeks was once again being held by his own LAPD and Internal Affairs. And Granger was found hovering over Heather Wilson’s severely beaten body and was arrested. Since Hetty was dealing with Under Secretary of Defense Duggan, that left Kensi on her own, and she’s not even back to work yet! Of course, everyone protested their innocence, claiming the mole was setting them all up. Some of them seemed to be making some headway, but then things really went sour. Just as Hetty had convinced Duggan that helping her find and take down the mole would be better for his career than taking her down, especially since she was innocent, he was shot and killed by an unknown sniper when he went out to stall the FBI SWAT team so Hetty and Kensi (who’d kidnapped Heather Wilson from the hospital in order to get info from her) could escape. Fortunately, before they left via the hatch in the floor, Heather mentioned the CIA. Another horrible thing for the team? Granger was stabbed in jail!

So what does all this mean for the team?? Will Granger survive? If he does, I’m not sure how it’ll work, given his portrayer’s death. I can’t wait to find out, but be prepared… After tonight’s episode, the next (and final episode in the three-ep mole arc) won’t air until February 19th!

On tonight’s episode, “Under Siege,” Hetty goes rogue, leaving the NCIS team completely in the dark, and the mole kidnaps one of the agents.

Find out who gets kidnapped tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, To Tell the Truth, & Worst Cooks in America.

Last week’s Rosewood had some character growth, some shockers, and some bad news. The case was kind of fun. I love magic, so any time a story line is set in the world of magicians, I tend to enjoy it. Turned out the killer was a fellow magician who poisoned the victim with homemade cyanide (made from apricot pits!). The killer was “always a bridesmaid, never the bride,” or rather he was always the opening act, never the star. On the character front, there was good news and bad news. Good news? Hornstock chose not to accept a job he’d applied for as the captain in Palm Beach, which means he’s sticking around. How that’ll continue to play against current captain, Ryan Slade, I have no idea. But I kinda love Hornstock and Villa’s mom. That’s a fun situation, having your coworker/former boss in a relationship with your mom! LOL For the so-so news (depending on your “shipper” stance…), Rosie spent the episode vetting Adrian as a match for Villa. In the end, Rosie has so far given Adrian a thumbs-up, but for some reason, Villa is still waffling a bit. Adrian told her he wasn’t going anywhere, which makes me sad, but whatever… Now for the bad news… The doctor told Rosie that the bender he went on after the lying, thieving witch left did more damage to his body than he thought. He was told to gather his family because he would need them.

Eek! So what did Rosewood do to his body/heart?? Will it serve to bring him and Villa closer or will he push that much harder to make Villa happy with Adrian?

On tonight’s episode, “Puffer Fish & Personal History,” when a victim, presumed dead, wakes up on Rosie’s autopsy table, the team is thrown into a world in which people go to great lengths to keep their secrets hidden. Both Rosie and Villa are forced to re-examine the meaning of family, and Rosie’s search for a Magic City Lab investor leads him to a surprising candidate.

Find out who could potentially invest in Magic City Lab tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Grimm & Last Man Standing.

Tonight, the new series Riverdale premieres on The CW. This live-action series is based on the characters from Archie Comics, but it looks like this version will be a much darker take on the material – kind of a Dawson’s Creek meets Twin Peaks. As the series opens, summer is coming to a close when the town of Riverdale experiences the tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom. As the investigation into the mysterious death is underway, the new school year begins for aspiring musician Archie Andrews (KJ Apa, Shortland Street); budding writer Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse, The Suite Life on Deck); soon-to-be-famous singer Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray); girl-next-door Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart, Surviving Jack), who has a crush on Archie; new student from New York Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes); and Riverdale’s Queen Bee Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch), who is the twin sister of the deceased. Some of the other main/recurring characters include Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel, Rush); Archie’s father Fred (Luke Perry, Beverly Hills, 90210); Veronica’s mother Hermione (Marisol Nichols, Teen Wolf, 24); and Betty’s overbearing mother Alice (Mädchen Amick, Witches of East End).

What mysteries, dangers, and secrets lurk in the shadows of this seemingly quiet, sleepy little town? I’m really looking forward to finding out! I read a bunch of the Archie comics growing up, and this looks like an interesting, more modern approach to the material. At the same time, based on the trailers, it kind of reminds me of the type of shows I enjoyed on The WB in the 90s.

On tonight’s premiere, “Chapter One: The River’s Edge,” Riverdale reels from the tragic death of Jason Blossom, a high school student; new student Veronica Lodge arrives in town; Cheryl Blossom stirs up trouble among the others while keeping a few secrets of her own.

Meet the gang from Riverdale tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, My Kitchen Rules, Top Chef, and Colony.
