If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/18/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, ABC kicks off the new 10-part legal thriller The Fix, from series creator/executive producer Marcia Clark (best known as the lead prosecutor for the O.J. Simpson trial). Eight years ago, LA district attorney Maya Travis (Robin Tunney, The Mentalist) suffered a devastating defeat in the courtroom when Hollywood star Sevvy Johnson (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Lost, Oz) was acquitted for the double murder of his wife and her best friend, despite all the evidence seeming to prove otherwise. Afterwards, Maya abruptly left the public eye and headed to Washington to live a quieter life with cowboy Riv Allgood (Marc Blucas, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), but she is still haunted by the faces of the two women she was unable get justice for.

Sevvy is once again in the news when his latest girlfriend is found murdered. Maya’s former partner, Matthew Collier (Adam Rayner, Tyrant), lures Maya back to the DA’s office to consult on the case and hopefully get justice this time around. Also working on the case are District Attorney Alan Wiest (Breckin Meyer, Franklin & Bash), CJ Emerson (Merrin Dungey, Big Little Lies, Alias), and the ambitious young deputy district attorney Loni Kampoor (Mouzam Makkar, Champions, The Exorcist). Sevvy once again claims his innocence and even has the backing of his deceased wife’s son Gabriel (Alex Saxon, The Fosters). However, that doesn’t stop him from re-hiring hot-shot defense attorney Ezra Wolf (Scott Cohen, The Americans), the man who got him acquitted the last time.

I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere. One can’t help but make comparisons to the O.J. trial and wonder if this is a way for Marcia Clark to get a little justice. Tonight’s episode does a great job of introducing all of the characters and their back stories and showing how both sides are starting to prepare their cases. It’s very interesting to see the manipulations and tricks being plotted by both sides. I expect that this one investigation/trial will play out over the course of the 10-episode season, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be other twists and personal drama along the way – tonight’s premiere features some unexpected turn of events. I am definitely on board to see how this all plays out and to see if Sevvy is actually innocent this time around or not.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” District Attorney Maya Travis returns to Los Angeles for another chance at justice after movie star Sevvy Johnson is suspected for another murder eight years later.

Meet all the players of this very public trial tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Resident, 9-1-1, and Arrow.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/17/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

You know, it doesn’t even matter what happened on the previous episode of NCIS: LA, although there were some great moments, such as Deeks and Roberta at the bar with the health inspector…and Deeks dancing with his mom, convincing her that he didn’t care how good or bad she was, that he wanted to dance with her at his wedding regardless. Another interesting thing was having Nicole DeChamps back…and seeing how things seem to be going between her and Sam. I like that he’s beginning to show some interest. He loved his wife and has grieved for her, but if he’s ready to move on, I’m not going to be unhappy.

But we all know that if you’re a fan of the show – or probably even if you aren’t now but were – then you’re going to be glued to your TV tonight because finally, FINALLY, Kensi and Deeks are getting married! Yes, I’m fangirl squee-ing right along with you guys. It promises to be such a huge episode, with not only the wedding itself but also a couple of unexpected guests (we know one, although I won’t spoil here in case you don’t know and don’t want to know, and there’s strong evidence to support the assumption of the second) AND finally the return of and the long-awaited opening of “the box.” I can only hope it doesn’t turn out to be a letdown – either the wedding or the contents of the box! I don’t have ANY thoughts on what could be in there, but I really hope it’s worth the seasons-long buildup! Besides all that, we finally get to meet all of Kensi’s friends: Cat, Mindy, Mandy, Tiffany, and Tiffany! LOL

On tonight’s episode, “Til Death Do Us Part,” after months of planning, the NCIS family celebrates the wedding of Kensi and Deeks. Also, an old acquaintance pays Deeks a surprise visit on his wedding day, and he isn’t alone.

Celebrate with me tonight as we watch Kensi and Deeks say their vows tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Family Food Showdown, Buddy vs. Duff, & Private Eyes.

Saturday on TV – 3/16/19

Saturday is the series premiere of Notorious on Reelz at 9/8c. The cliché rags to riches stories of many celebrities are often about how they succeeded through hard work and perseverance but what about the twisted individuals who gained fame for doing things far outside of the bounds of legality and morality? These are stories of extortion, stalking, lying, defrauding and even murder. Whether it’s Anthony Wiener’s descent from rising political star to sex offender, one of the world’s richest heiresses Patty Hearst robbing a bank at gunpoint, or Aaron Hernandez going from NFL star and multi-millionaire to being convicted of murder and ultimately taking his own life while behind bars, Notorious explores the darker side of fame. Through interviews with crime experts, recreations, archival footage and police reports viewers will learn the stories and motivations behind these individuals who surpassed infamy to become truly notorious.

Tonight is also the series premiere of While You Were Out on TLC at 9/8c. Hosted by Ananda Lewis, the show features an all-star cast comprised of designers from both TLC and HGTV. With a budget of $10,000 per room, each set of designers and carpenters will design one room in neighboring houses after the home owner sends their significant other on a weekend getaway. The ultimate surprise reveal culminates each episode upon their return. One home will include TLC designers and the other, HGTV designers. The cast includes: from TLC, Carter Oosterhouse, Doug Wilson, Frank Bielec, Hildi Santo Tomas, Kahi Lee, Sabrina Soto, Ty Pennington, and Vern Yip. From HGTV, Bristol and Aubrey Marunde, David Visentin, Hilary Farr, Karen E Laine, Mina Starsiak, Nicole Curtis, and Vanilla Ice and carpenters Eric Griffin and Jordan Thompson.

It’s also the season premiere of Murder Made Me Famous on Reelz and Trading Spaces on TLC, both at 8/7c.
