Megan’s Choice

World of Dance premiered last week, and I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Jennifer Lopez was endearing, Ne-Yo was sexy as usual, and Derek Hough is amusing – even though I’m not his biggest fan yet. All of that aside, the dancers were incredible, and I was floored by the level of talent. Another great part of this competition is the way they are scoring it more like a real dance competition, and that makes it more fair in my opinion. I’m looking forward to seeing what this season brings.

On tonight’s episode, “The Qualifiers Round 2,” the world’s elite dance acts from all ages and dance genres enter the “World Of Dance” arena to face off in the challenge of a lifetime. The acts have one chance to showcase their artistry, precision, and athleticism in order to move forward in the competition and ultimately win a grand prize of $1 million dollars.

To watch more talented dancers face off, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent, Chopped, and Chopped Junior.

Jenny’s Choice

If you’ve been following this site for a while, you probably know I’m a big fan of ventriloquist Jeff Dunham. I’ve mentioned him a few times. So when I saw that he and his wife, Audrey (a food blogger) have a new series coming tonight to Food Network, you know I was thrilled. Taking advantage of Jeff’s touring schedule, they turned their time on the road into an unforgettable adventure. They discovered some of America’s best meals and met the mastermind chefs who created them, in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Plus, some of Jeff’s fun, quirky characters show up from time to time, which is always a treat!

On tonight’s episode, “Austin’s Craziest Cuisine,” Jeff and Audrey dive into some of the wildest creations in the city who motto is “Keep Austin Weird.” They include a big burger, a uniquely delicious ice cream cone, and one of the oddest chicken fried dishes.

Recap/Review – The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – 6/5/17

A few years ago when 30 Rock went off the air, I almost thought for a minute that there would be nothing left for me to laugh at. I picked up some other comedies and got through it somehow. And then Tina Fey returned to TV – almost. Her latest brainchild, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was actually nixed by NBC before it aired a single episode. The project was then sold to Netflix, where it has gone on to complete three seasons. Most recently, season three came out last month, just in time to fill the vacuum of all our favorite shows going on summer vacation.

The show features perennial cutie pie Ellie Kemper as a cult survivor who was kept in a bunker for 15 years and led to believe that the world outside had been destroyed. Kimmy and her sisters were rescued in the pilot, and ever since she’s been living in New York City with her new best friend/roommate Titus Andromedon. Titus is in many ways a caricature of a struggling gay black man trying to make it as a singer in the big city, but he is based on the actor who portrays him, so it’s not as grating as it sounds. Fey herself appeared in the first season, for three episodes, as a satirical version of OJ lawyer Marsha Clark, when Kimmy had to face her captor in court. She returned in season two as Dr. Andrea Bayden, an alcoholic psychiatrist who gets entangled into Kimmy’s life when she moonlights as an Uber driver.
