This week’s episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (titled: “Who Needs Josh When You Have a Girl Group?â€) was about forcing relationships between lovers and friends.
Recap:
In this week’s episode, we see a familiar face. Trent, Rebecca’s fake ex-boyfriend, has a plan to infiltrate Josh’s friend group so that he can get closer to Rebecca. And since Josh and his friends can’t get into the bar due to the extravagant cover charge, Trent decides to pay for a table (and everything else for the guys) to make a good impression. And even though Josh, White Josh, and Hector like that everything is free, they decide that Trent is too strange and leave him at the bar, alone. With a little help from a new acquaintance, Trent decides to go straight to Rebecca and profess his love for her.
A side note about Josh… He’s been on three dates with Anna and texts her constantly, much to the annoyance of his friends.

Saturday is the series premiere of Homicide for the Holidays on Oxygen at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9/8c. The special series delves into the terrifying twists, turns and tell-alls that reveal how tumultuous the holiday season can be. For most, the winter holidays mean bringing family and friends together to eat, drink, and create joyous memories to last a lifetime; but, for others, it’s a time where emotions run high, anger and animosity set in and can spark an explosive combination of simmering resentments and volatile secrets. Sometimes, this emotional powder keg makes for some truly horrific holiday crime stories that viewers are sure to never forget. The series will feature firsthand accounts from families of four cases which include: sibling jealously that turned to bitterness and unhappiness then crystallized in killing; a misfit who saw her parents as the only obstacle to her happiness and murder as the solution; the age-old story, teenage girl meets boy, parents don’t like boy, but with a new horrific ending: murder; and a Psycho Santa who took his piece of the American Dream and tossed it in the flames…literally.
Tonight is also a new episode of The Killing Season on A&E at 9/8c, followed by the season finale at 10/9c.
Finally, tonight is a new episode of Saturday Night Live on NBC at 11:29/10:29c, with host Emma Stone and musical guest Shawn Mendes.

Today, Netflix drops the 13-episode first season of Pacific Heat, an animated action/comedy that follows a squad of dimwitted police offers as they go on various undercover missions in the glitzy Gold Coast of Australia. Heading up the team is Special Agent Todd Sommerville, who is constantly throwing out the Horatio Caine-style puns and is more concerned about messing up his hair than wearing the proper protective gear. With her blonde hair and willingness to strip down for the mission, Special Agent Maddie Riggs may not appear to be the smartest of the group, but she is constantly surprising the rest of her team with moments of sheer brilliance. The rest of the team includes simpleminded Special Agent Veronica “V.J.” Delane and meathead Agent Zac Valentic, who is also a former military colleague of Todd’s. And rounding out the main characters are the Chief, who is constantly sending the squad out on unsanctioned missions but then gets frustrated by their rogue practices. At the same time, he also has to deal with his empty-headed assistant and the team’s savvy young female tech.
I got a chance to watch the first and third episodes of the season, and I really enjoyed what I saw. This show is a lot of fun! The animation style and premise will remind many viewers of FX’s Archer. This series has a very similar look and feel, following a team of not-so-bright agents as they go out on dangerous missions and also deal with coworkers and office politics. The series also has a similar mix of irreverent humor, wordplay, sarcasm, and sight gags, and well as these really fun flashbacks that reveal crazy backstories and incidents in the characters’ pasts. The show even breaks the fourth wall at one point in the third episode. I think Archer fans will really enjoy this series, and it’s also well worth checking out for anyone looking for a fun cop show spoof.
