If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/31/16

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

greaselivesmallWe’ve had The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, and The Wiz. Now, we get another classic: Grease. Julianne Hough (Dancing with the Stars) and Aaron Tveit (Graceland) star as the iconic Sandy and Danny, with other big names such as Ana Gasteyer, Carly Rae Jepsen, Mario Lopez, and Vanessa Hudgens among others.

What’s interesting about the production tonight is that the cast will be wearing GoPro cameras between scenes to show audiences online the frenetic chaos that goes on as they sprint from set to set and get ready to do the next scene. They WANT the audience to see the production of it, as well as enjoy the musical as they normally would, and that’s definitely something new and different.

Sing along tonight with the songs you remember and hear new ones too on FOX at 7/6c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Ninja Warrior, Guy’s Grocery Games, Worst Cooks in America, CSI: Cyber, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

Saturday on TV – 1/30/16

Saturday is the series premiere of #killerpost on Oxygen at 9/8c. The show profiles true stories of the most jaw-dropping and shocking cases where social media activity has had dangerous and deadly consequences. Although the crimes differ in nature, they all share a common theme – social media posts were the catalysts for deadly repercussions. Through cinematic reenactments of both the crimes and stories behind them – coupled with witness testimonies and expert interviews – each pulse-pounding episode will feature extreme cases in which a post, a poke or even a tweet led to a violent and even deadly result. From a seemingly innocent online connection that ends in homicide to an online feud between best friends that leads to a public physical altercation, viewers will witness how the boundaries between the real and online world are breaking down with shocking results and sometimes fatal outcomes.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Deadly Shootouts on Reelz at 10/9c. Time stands still when bullets fly and answers lie hidden beneath the settling smoke. The greatest gunfights and their notorious characters come to life in Deadly Shootouts. From the wild shootout at the O.K. Corral seen in Tombstone to Bonnie and Clyde’s infamous rampage depicted countless times in TV and movies, the series exposes the truth behind the conflicts that have inspired Hollywood. The bloodstained pages of history are written by the hands of those left standing through modern ballistic tests, forensic analysis and stylized recreations of the most famous shootouts of all time.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Zombie House Flipping on FYI at 10/9c. The show explores the recent trend of house flippers scooping up foreclosed and often abandoned “zombie houses” and renovating them to return neighborhoods to their former glory. Millennial house flipper Justin Stamper and his team of renovators have found a solution to the abandoned, rundown homes in Florida. As the “Robin Hoods of Real Estate” in Orlando, Justin and his team buy and fix up dilapidated, sometimes bank-owned homes, making big money in the process — but of course, not without difficulties along the way. From leaking roofs and the threat of sinkholes, to electrical fires and poorly piped Florida “McMansions,” there is never a dull moment with this group of house-flipping mavericks.

Finally, tonight is also the season premiere of Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/29/16

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

undateable2015smallTonight, Undateable closes out its live season with a special 1-hour finale. I’ve had mixed feelings about this past season. I really like the idea of a live show and the fun/danger that adds – What could go wrong? or Who will mess up their lines or experience some sort of prop malfunction? Most of this cast comes from a stand-up-comedy background, so they are used to performing live, and it shows. They have great chemistry and work really well together, and adding Whitney Cummings into the mix was a great decision. It’s also impressive that they’ve been doing live shows for both the East and West Coasts. The one thing that bugs me about this new live format is how the actors will often break character to make personal jabs at one another to solicit a reaction. While this may be funny, it completely takes me out of the show and makes it feel more like I’m watching actors interact on stage rather than watching characters come to life in a story.

I’m not sure how the show has been doing in the ratings or if it even has a chance of returning for a fourth season. But I’m sure tonight’s double-episode finale will go all out and probably feature a bunch of fun cameos like the season premiere. Plus, this week’s musical guest will be the Backstreet Boys!

Catch the live 1-hour finale tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grimm, MasterChef: Junior, Second Chance, and Childrens Hospital.
