Last week on 9-1-1, there was a lot going on with multiple people, and I am impressed at the way the writers have kept the stories evolving this season. Buck, Diaz, and Chimney helped Maddie move into her new place, and sparks flew between Maddie and Chimney! I originally thought she’d make a cute couple with Diaz, but after this episode, I can see there is definitely a promising relationship for her with Chimney. He’s older, more stable, and I think he can give her the emotional support she needs right now, especially as she deals with handling the trauma of her abusive marriage.

Buck found himself attracted to a reporter doing a piece on the firehouse but questioned it after seeing she cared more about a juicy story than the people it affects.

Bobby was struggling to deal with the fact that his daughter would have been 13 years old and his guilt over his failure to protect her. Athena was there for him, and it is touching to watch him be welcomed into her family by both her kids and her ex-husband. I think these two should head toward marriage because they are perfect together. I’m looking forward to seeing where all of these relationships go.

On tonight’s episode, “Haunted,” Halloween finds the first responders racing to the rescue at a cemetery, a haunted hayride, and a spooky Hollywood parade; meanwhile Maddie thinks she has received a “ghost” call from a missing hiker; Hen finds herself facing a life-or-death situation with the father who abandoned her; Eddie reconnects with his estranged wife.

Find out how Eddie handles this blast from the past tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Resident, The Voice, The Good Doctor, The Neighborhood, Happy Together, Magnum PI, Bull, and Halloween Baking Championship.

The “Arrowverse’s” epic return continues tonight when DC’s Legends of Tomorrow comes back.

This is another show that ended on a crazy cliff hanger last year, which left us some hint of what this year’s season 4 might be about. In last spring’s finale, Damien Darhk sacrificed himself to become the demon Malice instead of his daughter, Nora. (Why are Darhk & Flash’s daughters named the same??!?!) Mya and Ray meanwhile took some shaman drug to commune with the ancestral totem bearers to learn how to use the totems to defeat the demon.

The team was hiding out in temporal anomalous zone: Salvation Montana in the 1860s. They met up with Johna Hex once again & also got to see Jefferson Jackson, who used to be Firestorm. Jefferson had aged five years since they last saw him, and he had a wife & child now. Unfortunately undead armies of Roman soldiers, pirates, & vikings showed up soon enough, representing Malice’s agenda. In the “High Noon” battle with the undead legions, they at first defeated them all, but Malice just reanimated them again. So the Legends had to pool the powers of the totems to become the champion that could defeat the demon. They formed into a giant “Bebo” stuffed doll and promptly kicked Malice’s butt!

In the celebrations that followed, though, mystic warrior John Constantine showed up and told them that by destroying Malice, they had cause massive repercussions through the world of the supernatural. That set the tone for what we have to look forward to in this next year. Also Mya returned to her own timeline, and she and Ray broke up, but we knew that was coming. She only was on the waverider to complete this totem arc. We know that Legends will not be part of the Elseworlds crossover that The Flash, Arrow, & Supergirl will be doing (a crossover which will launch the upcoming CW show Batwoman!!!). But looks like they will be teaming up with Constantine. This show is always funny and has so much heart. Here’s to hoping for four more years!

On tonight’s episode, “The Virgin Gary,” after the Legends defeated Mallus and wiped the final anachronism from time, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory with the Time Bureau. All that changes when Constantine informs Sara of a new magical threat that leads the team to Woodstock. Constantine thinks he knows how to defeat the new threat but will need the help of the team and their special klepto talents to help with his spell. Meanwhile, Nate and Rory go on an adventure, leaving Nate facing someone from his past.

Find out what threat leads the team to Woodstock tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Arrow.

My pick is the first of tonight’s new CBS comedies, The Neighborhood. Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield, New Girl) is a friendly guy from the Midwest. When his wife Gemma (Beth Behrs, 2 Broke Girls) gets a job as a school principal in LA, they move from Michigan with their young son, Grover (Hank Greenspan). They quickly learn that their new neighborhood is…slightly different from their previous one, but it doesn’t faze them a bit. Unfortunately, their opinionated next-door neighbor, Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer), is a little more than wary of the newcomers, while his gracious wife, Tina (Tichina Arnold, Everybody Hates Chris, Happily Divorced, Daytime Divas), rolls out the welcome wagon. Their younger son, Marty (Marcel Spears, The Mayor), thinks the Johnsons could be good for the community and finds his dad’s attitude about the Johnsons very funny, and their unemployed older son, Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney, Vice Principals), finds that Dave may finally be someone who understands him.

I haven’t seen the pilot, but the trailer looks pretty funny. I really like Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, & Tichina Arnold, and Marcel Spears’s character Marty is amusing in the trailer. Cedric the Entertainer is hit or miss for me in terms of how much I like him, depending on how over the top the character is. But I think I’ll find the show and him funny this time, so I’m quite looking forward it.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a friendly Midwesterner moves his family to a Los Angeles neighborhood next door to Calvin, who’s concerned the newcomers will disrupt the culture on the block.

Meet the Johnsons and Butlers tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Happy Together, 9-1-1, Halloween Baking Championship, Magnum P.I., & Whose Line Is It Anyway?, .

I’m so excited because tonight is the beginning of the deluge of new episodes with the start of the new fall TV season. Yay! And back tonight is one of last fall’s breakout hits, 9-1-1, on a special night before tomorrow’s follow-up episode in the time slot premiere. A lot of people were skeptical before the show first aired and even after the first episode – because let’s face it… The show is a little over-the-top and silly at times. I mean, during season one, we saw them rescue a newborn baby from a drainpipe in the wall, a woman with a giant snake wrapped around her neck, a kids’ bouncy house that flew away and was perched dangerously on a cliffside, and a good number more. And don’t forget Chimney and the rebar right through his head! That’s a sight that took a long time to get out of my head, I’ll tell ya!

There was also a lot of personal drama over the course of the season. (Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen season 1!) Playboy/sex-obsessed Buck met and fell in love with 911 operator/older woman Abby, ending up alone when Abby took a leave of absence and decided to travel the world after her mother passed away. Cop Athena was dealing with her long-time spouse coming out as gay and her teenage daughter trying to commit suicide. Paramedic Henrietta cheated on her wife with her ex-girlfriend (ex-wife? I don’t remember), who was newly released from prison and is the other mother of her son. And if I remember right, the ex decided she was going to fight for custody. We learned fireman Bobby was injured years before on the job and became addicted to pain killers and alcohol, and that ended up getting his wife and kids as well as hundreds more people from their apartment complex killed when he accidentally set the building on fire by leaving on a space heater in the empty apartment where he went to be alone and use. He was never caught, and he still carries the guilt, but he’d been clean and sober since until he relapsed with alcohol after a bad call. At the end of the season, there seemed to be some sparks happening between Bobby and Athena, so that should be interesting… And then, of course, you can’t forget the rebar through Chimney’s head! Like…just above but right between his eyes! It was so freaky!

So that all leaves questions for the new season: 1) Abby’s still gone. How is Buck handling it? Is he back to his old ways? Alone and pining for her? 2) Is Henrietta’s ex still in the picture, and is there a custody battle going on? 3) How are things between Athena and Bobby? 4) How will new 911 operator Maddie (Buck’s sister!), played by the beautiful Jennifer Love Hewitt, fit in with the show? Will she be able to fill Abby’s shoes? 5) Will new firefighter/single dad Eddie work well in the new role? Will he be competing with Buck for “young, sexy guy,” and if so, how will Buck handle that? I can’t wait to find out!

On tonight’s premiere, “Under Pressure,” on one of the hottest days of the year, the first responders feel the pressure as harrowing incidents keep happening around the city. Meanwhile, Buck gets a surprise visit from his sister, Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Also, Athena questions her relationship with Bobby. Then, at the fire station, handsome new hire Eddie (Ryan Guzman) jeopardizes Buck’s chances of being chosen for a fireman calendar.

Don’t miss the start of another season of zany fun tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Celebrity Family Feud, The $100,000 Pyramid, & Worst Cooks in America.

Oh snap! Last week’s Chicago PD might have been the most perfectly titled episode to date: “Breaking Point.” The case itself was okay – a prominent alderman was killed, and of course the team solved the case. But the bigger story in my opinion was when Woods came after Olinsky. Apparently a hair of Olinsky’s was found on the dead body of Voight’s son’s killer, and a witness saw a woman in the area as well. Woods, of course, is trying to get to Voight through Olinsky, and it seems like Olinsky is going to hold steady…but when he went to Voight with the news about the witness being credible and said they should talk to Erin to get their stories straight, he may have run into Voight’s “breaking point” in terms of his loyalty to Olinsky: Erin. He said no, they didn’t want to do that yet, or something to that effect. And right then is when Olinsky realized that if it came down to Erin or him for Voight’s loyalty, he would not come out on top. Voight better do something quick if he wants to keep Woods from hearing the whole story from Olinsky!

I’m so excited about tonight’s episode. We get to learn more about Upton’s past, AND Bosch…I mean Titus Weller is guest starring! I love him, and it makes the time until the new season of Bosch starts next month!

On tonight’s episode, “Ghosts,” Upton brings back an old undercover identity to help take down a meth ring spearheaded by a former criminal contact. And with pressure from Woods mounting, Voight calls in a favor for Olinsky.

Find out what favor Voight calls in tonight on NBC at 10/9c.
