I cannot believe we are already half way through October! 2022 has been flying by, and while I’m excited that we are moving along without too many issues, I’d like time to go a little slower, seeing as my daughter will be leaving for university in less than a year. We have so much to do to decide where she’s going, if she’s staying in Canada or going stateside, and so many other small things. Thankfully for tonight I can just sit back and watch a few of my favorite shows to try to take my mind off the upcoming decisions.

Tonight I’m recommending you watching The Neighborhood, because we all need a few more laughs in our lives. This comedy always manages to make me laugh while also giving me heartwarming feels about the family dynamics that are portrayed. Dave and Calvin’s friendship is a constant source of laughs, while Dave and Gemma’s marriage is one to aspire to. I am excited to see how the show continues as Malcolm and Marty grow into their own relationships and the families branch out. It will be hilarious and sweet to see Calvin and Tina as grandparents in the future because we all know that Tina is going to go overboard as she always does — and as she currently is simply planning the wedding!

On tonight’s episode, “Welcome to the Art of Negotiation,” when Dave is up for a promotion at work, Calvin tries to help him negotiate a raise from his penny-pinching new boss, Gregory. Also, Tina struggles with whether to share some sensitive information with Gemma.

To find out what sensitive information Tina needs to tell Gemma, tune in to CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Bob Hearts Abishola, 9-1-1, NCIS, The Voice, The Cleaning Lady, The Good Doctor, and Quantum Leap.

Tonight is the series premiere of Quantum Leap, and I can’t be more excited. This is a continuation (NOT a reboot) of the original series starring Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett. When that series ended, Sam stepped in the accelerator and vanished. Unfortunately, Scott Bakula isn’t back for the new series, but taking up the helm as the new “leaper” is Raymond Lee as physicist Ben Song. He is leading a new team that’s been assembled to restart the project, but everything changes when he makes an unauthorized leap into 1985, which leaves the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it.

In the original series, Dean Stockwell played Sam’s best friend Al, who appeared to Sam as a hologram and helped him research and guide him throughout the leaps into the past. That actor passed away in 2021, but the new “Al” is Addison, played by Caitlin Bassett. Just like Al, she appears to Ben as a hologram, and she is sent to find him. Also starring are Mason Alexander Park as Ian Wright, who runs the Aritificial Intelligence unit “Ziggy”; Nanrisa Lee as Jenn Chou, who heads up digital security for the project; and Ernie Hudson, who plays Herbert “Magic” Williams, a Vietnam vet and leader of the operation. What’s significant about “Magic” Williams is that in the original series, Sam leaped back to the Vietnam War to be with his brother, and the body he leapt into? Herbert Williams! The character was played by a different actor then, but the character himself is the same as the man Sam leapt into back in the original series. Very cool trivia tidbit, right??

I’ve watched the trailer, and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. There’s SO MUCH to play with because so much has changed in the last 30 years. I can’t wait to take a leap back into the past with Ben, and I’m crossing my fingers they do justice to the fantastic original series.

On tonight’s episode, “July 13, 1985,” a new team assembles to restart the Quantum Leap project. Lead physicist Ben Song takes an unauthorized leap into 1985 as the team scrambles to figure out what happened and how to get him back.

Don’t miss the series premiere of Quantum Leap tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Bäckström, Dancing with the Stars (and only because Wayne Brady is in it this season!), Bob Hearts Abishola, Halloween Baking Championship, NCIS, & NCIS: Hawai’i.

My pick is the first of tonight’s new CBS comedies, The Neighborhood. Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield, New Girl) is a friendly guy from the Midwest. When his wife Gemma (Beth Behrs, 2 Broke Girls) gets a job as a school principal in LA, they move from Michigan with their young son, Grover (Hank Greenspan). They quickly learn that their new neighborhood is…slightly different from their previous one, but it doesn’t faze them a bit. Unfortunately, their opinionated next-door neighbor, Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer), is a little more than wary of the newcomers, while his gracious wife, Tina (Tichina Arnold, Everybody Hates Chris, Happily Divorced, Daytime Divas), rolls out the welcome wagon. Their younger son, Marty (Marcel Spears, The Mayor), thinks the Johnsons could be good for the community and finds his dad’s attitude about the Johnsons very funny, and their unemployed older son, Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney, Vice Principals), finds that Dave may finally be someone who understands him.

I haven’t seen the pilot, but the trailer looks pretty funny. I really like Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, & Tichina Arnold, and Marcel Spears’s character Marty is amusing in the trailer. Cedric the Entertainer is hit or miss for me in terms of how much I like him, depending on how over the top the character is. But I think I’ll find the show and him funny this time, so I’m quite looking forward it.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a friendly Midwesterner moves his family to a Los Angeles neighborhood next door to Calvin, who’s concerned the newcomers will disrupt the culture on the block.

Meet the Johnsons and Butlers tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Happy Together, 9-1-1, Halloween Baking Championship, Magnum P.I., & Whose Line Is It Anyway?, .
