Tonight, Better Call Saul returns to AMC to kick off its fourth season. During last season’s finale, Howard had had enough of Chuck’s drama. He handed him a $3M personal check to buy out his part of the firm and then immediately announced Chuck’s departure to the entire firm. When Jimmy heard the news, he went to apologize to his older brother, but Chuck didn’t want to hear it. Later that evening, Chuck had another one of his panic attacks, tearing apart his home looking for the source of an electronic hum. Chuck had lost his job, and his reputation, and couldn’t control his anxiety. He had had enough – he kicked some piles of paper in his office that were holding up a lantern, until it fell over, setting the whole house ablaze with him still inside.

Meanwhile, Kim had already decided to take some time off after her car accident, and now Jimmy was about to have some free time of his own. Jimmy felt guilt over destroying Irene Landry’s life, and when he couldn’t con her friends into accepting her back, he orchestrated an accidental confession during bingo. This basically destroyed his credibility at the old-age home and caused his clients to flee en masse. And finally, Nacho watched from his car as Hector, Gus, and Juan had an argument outside his father’s upholstery shop. Hector clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground. Surprisingly, Gus Fring administered CPR, saving Hector’s life. Surely part of some master plan.

I’m looking forward to another season of Better Call Saul tonight. How is Jimmy going to react to his brother’s death/suicide, and will this be what finally pushes him to become Saul Goodman? And how will this affect Kim and Jimmy’s seemingly doomed relationship? And what else will we learn of the larger Madrigal business that plays such a major role in Breaking Bad?

On tonight’s premiere, “Smoke,” Jimmy struggles to cope with Chuck’s tragic death; Mike ponders his role at Madrigal; and Howard makes a startling confession.

Check out how the season begins tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Lodge 49.

I’m loving seeing the Scorpion team stranded on the deserted island after their plane crash landed while on the way to a job-slash-honeymoon for Happy & Toby. Unfortunately, the pilot was injured – his arm was trapped, which led to compression syndrome. If they simply pried his arm loose from the wreckage, the poison that had built up would be free to travel through his bloodstream and would kill him. So Toby “MacGyvered” his way to building basically a filter using things from the plane and the island, and they were able to save the pilot’s life and his arm. The team tried to get the attention of a passing ship, but even with the flare they sent off, the ship didn’t see them or turn around. And since they figured out the EMP sent the plane off course without the pilot realizing, they know they’re VERY far from where they should have been and not in a highly trafficked area, and help may not be coming anytime soon, if at all.

Sylvester is having the hardest time with their situation. He was actually very un-Sly-like last week, much less scared and anxious, since he was sure they were going to die and therefore wasn’t afraid of it since he felt it was a foregone conclusion. And one of the funniest parts of the episode was Walter trying to be all lovey-dovey with Paige. He kept calling her different pet names and basically just being too sugary sweet. At first it kind of annoyed Paige, but she realized that it was just the only way he knew to react to his feelings, since they’re new to him. It was all very sweet and funny.

Tonight is the season finale. The team’s been stranded for three weeks. I can’t wait to see how it’s affecting everyone, especially Sylvester. The previews for him look awesomely funny!

On tonight’s episode, “Scorp Family Robinson,” three weeks after they crash land on a deserted island, tensions run high for Team Scorpion when they must battle to overcome their relationship obstacles in order to be rescued.

Find out how the team overcomes these obstacles tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kids BBQ Championship & Man With a Plan.

Last week on Better Call Saul, we got the genesis of one of Breaking Bad’s key relationships – Mike met Gus Fring! Gus didn’t want Mike to kill Hector Salamanca but said he was free to mess with him all he wanted. So Mike hatched a clever plan involving sneakers and a rifle to make sure there was drug residue on the outside of Salamanca’s delivery truck when it tried to cross the border. Meanwhile, the police showed up at Chuck’s to arrest Jimmy, and one of his former public defender coworkers gave Jimmy a hard time when he saw him in the holding cell. Jimmy made bail and, despite Kim’s protests, decided he wanted to defend himself.

I like how the series is quickly moving toward Breaking Bad, setting up the pieces and the relationships that were in place when that show began. Can Jimmy get himself cleared of the charges levied by Chuck? If not, is this what is going to ultimately lead him to become Saul Goodman? What is Salamanca going to do in response to Mike’s actions? And how close are we to learning how he became the wheelchair-bound, mute, bell-ringing guy we saw at the start of Breaking Bad?

On tonight’s episode, “Sabrosito,” Jimmy calls in a favor from Mike. Meanwhile, new complications disrupt the Salamancas’s business; and Chuck and Jimmy struggle to compromise.

Find out what favor Jimmy calls in tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, The Great Indoors, Gotham, Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, and Angie Tribeca.

Tonight, Better Call Saul kicks off its third season on AMC. When we last left off, Jimmy had purposely altered his brother’s legal documents in order to steal Mesa Verde as a client. Chuck blamed his electromagnetic hypersensitivity for his absentmindedness; however, he suspected that Jimmy had something to do with the error. Chuck quit his job at the firm, had a panic attack that sent him to the hospital, and was back to wearing his tin foil hat around his darkened house. Jimmy felt bad and confessed to his brother what he had done, but he was unaware that Chuck had arranged the situation and had recorded the conversation. Meanwhile, Mike’s plan to execute Hector Salamanca was interrupted by a blaring car horn, and when he went to stop the noise, he found the word “Don’t” written on his vehicle.

Who left the note for Mike, and why didn’t the author want Hector killed? The general theory is that it was Gus Fring – are we going to see how those two first partnered up? How does Chuck plan to use this recording against his brother? Now that he knows that there was nothing physically wrong with him, will he abandon his paranoid ways and become the top lawyer he once was? And how will the existence of this tape affect Kim and Saul’s relationship, which is ultimately doomed, given where Breaking Bad picks up? I have been thoroughly enjoying this prequel series, and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go this season and what connections to the original series will pop up.

On tonight’s premiere, “Mabel,” Jimmy and Chuck’s relationship deteriorates; Kim feels the pressure of running her own firm; and Mike investigates the note left on his car.

If you missed any of the second season, AMC will be running a marathon of the entire second season starting at 11:30AM ET today. Otherwise, catch the start of the new season tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, Bates Motel, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, and Angie Tribeca.

bettercallsaul215smallTonight, the second season of Better Call Saul kicks off on AMC. When we left off, Jimmy was at a crossroads. He had tried to find himself a legitimate law career and break away from his previous indiscretions and the con-man ways of the past. He had organized the Sandpiper class-action case and brought it to his brother Chuck’s firm, HHM. However, he was crushed to discover that Chuck was the one who had been blocking him from becoming a partner at HHM – he still didn’t believe that Jimmy could change, despite much evidence to the contrary. Kim told Jimmy that the case was too big for HHM to handle alone, that another firm was being brought in to help, and that this firm was interested in hiring Jimmy in a partner-track position. However, Jimmy had already started to wonder why he even bothered to play by the rules if no one was going to trust him anyway. He could have taken the bribe offered by the Kettlemans and no one would have been the wiser, but he let his morals stop him. And in a conversation with Mike, Jimmy stated that he wasn’t going to let that happen again. Why not just game the system like people seemed to expect him to?!

So will Jimmy accept the position with this other firm, or is he ready to go full “Saul Goodman” right now? How is Jimmy’s relationship with Chuck going to change now that he knows his brother betrayed him? And how is that going to affect his work if he does continue working the Sandpiper case? Is there some hope of a romance between Kim and Jimmy? And what questionable activities will Jimmy and Mike get up to this season?

On tonight’s episode, “Switch,” Jimmy and Kim’s relationship takes a new turn. Meanwhile, Mike decides it’s for the best to sever his affiliation with an unrestrained associate.

Following tonight’s premiere will be a Chris Hardwick-hosted after-show, Talking Saul, similar to Talking Dead. However, it doesn’t appear that this after-show will happen every week.

Don’t miss the season premiere on AMC at 10/9c, followed by the after-show at 11/10c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Castle, Superstore, Telenovela, The X-Files, Lucifer, Major Crimes, and The Magicians.
