There were a lot of good moments in the final 2018 episode of NCIS: LA. NCIS Special Agent Nicole DeChamps (Marsha Thomason) was back, filling in for Callen, who spent all episode with Anna in the hospital. The case itself was okay, some parts of it better than others – I really enjoyed Sam sort of bonding with the guys from the Army and Marines who were originally thought to be the bad guys but who’d been drugged so they weren’t exactly in charge of their actions when they ran their vehicle through a Christmas tree lot and shot up the place. I also really enjoyed Nicole and Sam at the rich drug dealer’s party.

Outside the case, there were some great moments. Rogers being a Grinch, even banning the company party and decorations. Callen spending Christmas with Anna, who was in the hospital after being beaten up very badly in prison…and Arkady maybe finally realizing that Callen does truly care about her. Deeks freaking out about hosting the company holiday party at the bar – he was so funny about the food, going so far as to getting a bunch of cakes or bread or whatever from the girlfriend of one of the “suspects” of the case. The team toasting to the people they lost in the previous year, remembering Granger and Hidoko, even mentioning Hetty, who is off on some mysterious project (in reality, Linda Hunt was in an accident over the summer and is apparently still not better enough to get back to work…).

I still want Kensi & Deeks to pick a wedding date and name the bar! (Hello! I have two: Fern’s or The Golden Shark! Duh!)

On tonight’s episode, “The Sound of Silence,” after the chief of logistics for a naval weapons station collapses on the job, the NCIS team must determine if this is a terror threat or a stress-induced breakdown. Also, Kensi and Deeks research different honeymoon locations.

To see if there’s a terror threat and find out where we’re (I mean they’re) going on the honeymoon, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Worst Cooks in America.

Last week, I blogged about South Park on account of another great Halloween episode they did, and this week it is once more the holiday specials that has me raving about Bob’s Burgers, a show that consistently times its run around sets of stellar X-Mas & Turkey Day installments. This week will bring the Thanksgiving cheer, and I am sure it’s going to be hilarious.

If you missed last week, it was a sample of a well-balanced episode with three subplots intertwining. The main story followed Bob’s forays into working as an Uber driver and how that embroiled him into a robbery spree with an elderly woman, Edith. The kids meanwhile were stuck at a birthday party for a kid they hardly even knew or liked, Colton. Back at the restaurant, Linda tried to help Teddy get over his aversion to sushi in time for a sushi date that he had later in the day.

Unbeknownst to Bob, Edith was on a mission to steal all the quilt squares from her quilting group before they could sew them together that afternoon at the community center. Bob didn’t think it was the best idea, but by the end he was fully on board for the caper. After stealing the last piece from under the nose of snotty Quilting Club President Lillian, Edith attached all the pieces. She even added her piece, which had been banned: it was a tile that depicted the Sideshow Freak people from the Wonderwharf. They were an important part of town history and Edith’s childhood specifically.

At the birthday party, which was themed after “The Great Gatsby,” the Belcher kids decided to steal back the knockoff Rubix Cube they brought as a gift and replace it with Gene’s smelly socks. When Louise went to make the switch though, Colton caught her in the act. He actually found it very funny and rooted on any attempts to spoil his parents’ dumb party ideas. They were doing it all for Instagram pix and likes. In the third thread, Teddy never really found any sushi he liked, but he went on the date anyway – he opted instead to just throw the sushi aside when his date looked away. Kind of a fail but par the course for Teddy.

On tonight’s episode, “I Bob Your Pardon,” the Belchers set out to save a turkey from a trip to the slaughterhouse, but when a local reporter catches wind of their schemes, the mission becomes more complicated than they had anticipated.

See if the family can save the turkey tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching Star Wars Resistance, Supergirl, Family Guy, & Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

One of my favorite things about October is that it brings the Halloween-themed TV episodes, and tonight Halloween hits the FOX Sunday lineup. The Simpsons opens the night with its annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode, which features homages to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Split, and Jurassic Park. This was originally going to be my recommendation for the night, until I checked out tonight’s episode of Bob’s Burgers. I always enjoy this series, but the Halloween episodes especially so. No other show seems to bring me back to the fun times of trick-or-treating as a child like this one does. Though the Belcher kids always have far more creative costumes and always get mixed up in some crazy adventure during their annual quest for candy. Tonight’s may be my favorite Halloween episode since the show’s first one back in season 3. Besides the ingenious costumes that pop up throughout, Gene has some hilarious one-liners, and there’s a really fun side plot involving Bob and Teddy.

On tonight’s episode of The Simpsons, “Treehouse of Horror XXIX,” Homer wins an oyster-eating contest against the mythical Cthulhu; Springfield is overrun by plant body-snatchers; Lisa finally snaps; Mr. Burns opens a retirement home with some Jurassic upgrades.

Then, in Bob’s Burgers, “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street,” the kids set out for their regular Halloween shenanigans, but when everyone’s candy bags start mysteriously disappearing, it’s up to Tina, Louise, and Gene to find the culprit.

To see the Halloween fun, tune in to FOX starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording God Friended Me, Family Guy, Supergirl, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, You, Camping, and Kidding.

If you were a big fan of the original Charmed like I was, you’re either really excited about or really dreading tonight’s premiere of the “reboot” or whatever they’re calling it. It’s a little confusing because it’s not the same characters, but it is the same premise, yet one trailer does mention one of the characters from the original…so who knows!

Sisters Mel (Melonie Diaz, Laughs Unlimited) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery, Shades of Blue) are dealing with the tragic death of their mother when they suddenly learn they have an older sister named Macy (Madeleine Mantock, Into the Badlands, The Tomorrow People). Then comes an even bigger shock: they find out they’re witches and each suddenly exhibit impossible new abilities. They speak to Harry Greenwood (Rupert Evans, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond, The Man in the High Castle), who explains about their mother and now the three of them being powerful witches and that he’s their “Whitelighter,” or advisor/guide. Together, the three of them must decide to accept their new destiny as the Charmed Ones and their new duty to hunt down the demons that walk among humans – including the one who killed their mother. Charlie Gillespie, Ellen Tamaki, and Ser’Darius Blain also star.

I can’t go into this show prepared to compare it to the original. That version (along with Prue, Piper, Phoebe, & Paige, not to mention Leo, Chris, & Darryl) will always hold a special place in my heart. So I have to watch and think of it as something new or else I know I won’t return for a second ep. What about you? Are you planning to watch?

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” after the tragic death of Mel and Maggie’s mother, the sisters are shocked to discover they have an older sister; the three sisters begin to exhibit strange new abilities.

Find out what abilities the sisters have tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Halloween Wars, NCIS: LA, & Haunted Gingerbread Showdown.

I’m so excited that FOX’s Sunday animated comedies return tonight for all new seasons. While I still enjoy the long-running The Simpsons (starting its 30th season!) and Family Guy (its 17th season), relative newcomer Bob’s Burgers has easily become my favorite of the bunch. Whether it’s frustrated Bob dealing with a restaurant issue, Linda coming up with some wacky new idea to bring the family closer, Gene or Louise getting up to no good, or Tina having boy trouble, there’s always something fun and crazy going on in the Belcher household. No matter which family member(s) the main storyline revolves around on, there’s always loads of laughs, and some fun original song related to the events of the episode during the credits.

Tonight’s ninth season premiere brings back some of my favorite recurring characters on the show, the boy band Boyz 4 Now, because that usually means we are going to get a music-filled episode. I loved tonight’s premiere, which finds Boyz 4 Now coming town, auditioning for a replacement band member, and boy-crazy Tina constantly experiencing love-at-first-sight as she meets each potential new band member. The episode features several fun original musical numbers as Tina daydreams her elaborate relationships with each of the boys. The writers of this series are so creative and talented – each of the songs is written in a different style, showcasing the different types of boys Tina is falling for. Tonight’s episode is a great start to the season, and I can’t wait to see more of all three of the FOX animated Sunday comedies. It’s great to be able to check my TiVo To Do list and see brand new episodes listed!

On tonight’s premiere, “Just One of the Boyz 4 Now for Now,” convinced she’s met the love of her life, Tina disguises herself as a boy and sneaks into the Boyz 4 Now auditions to find him; Teddy asks the rest of the Belcher gang to nurse his baby rat back to health.

See if Tina finds her new man tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording God Friended Me, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Fear the Walking Dead, You, and Kidding.
