If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/11/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

znation911smallTonight, Syfy’s zombie action/thriller/comedy Z Nation returns for its second season. When we last left off, the gang had made it to the lab, but when they got there, they found mad scientist Dr. Kurian, a man who had been developing biological weapons, and an army of zombified soldiers. Cassandra’s wound became infected and she was dying, but a bite from Murphy healed her, sort of – she became a half-zombie fighting machine. Doc was wounded in a firefight that broke out at the lab and was bleeding out. Meanwhile, the crazy doctor bolted from the lab, and Murphy followed, without following the proper decontamination procedure, which set off the emergency containment protocols – launching nuclear missiles toward both this facility and toward Citizen Z’s station at the North Pole. When Murphy got outside, he shed his skin like a reptile and took off.

Tonight’s season premiere picks up immediately where the first season left us hanging – our favorite gang of survivors has been even further separated and nuclear missiles are heading their way. Will the group escape the blast? Will Doc bleed out? Will Mack and Addy or Murphy ever rejoin the group? Will they find a vaccine? And what about Citizen Z? What’s he going to do if his facility is destroyed?

While I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead, there’s definitely room for both shows on my TV. They both have very different tones and are entertaining in their own way. I really enjoyed tonight’s episode. It has that nice blend of humor, action, and suspense this show always provides. I’m looking forward to seeing the fallout (no pun intended) of these nukes, what crazy situations these survivors end up in this season, learning more about Murphy’s zombie-controlling powers, and seeing how the larger group ultimately comes back together.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got a chance to talk with the cast and creator of Z Nation about this new season. You can find my videos from the press room at NoReruns.net.

On tonight’s episode, “The Murphy,” moments have passed since Murphy triggered the launch of tactical nuclear weapons, and it’s every man/woman for themselves as the group split up and try to outrun the impending blast. Meanwhile, Citizen Z finds himself battling thawed zombies and unable to communicate with the team, which leads him to make a desperate move that prompts the arrival of a mysterious and deadly bounty hunter.

See how the survivors handle the threats from the nukes and the zombies tonight on Syfy at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/4/14

We’ve made it to the end of another week. It’s been a rough week for a lot of people, so if you have blessings in your life, take a moment to be thankful for them. Then curl up & watch some great TV. 😉 Here are our recommendations!

Jenny’s Choice #1

raisinghope44smallTonight is the 1-hour series finale of Raising Hope. I’m very sad about that because I’ve been a huge fan of the show since the beginning. I loved when they got Jimmy & Sabrina together. He is far from the smartest guy on the block, but together, they’re completely adorable. Last week was a great one to start wrapping up the series. Burt and Virginia were experiencing empty-nest syndrome since Jimmy, Hope, and Sabrina weren’t living with them anymore and Maw Maw was off on a Grateful Dead tour. They tried to adopt a dog, which didn’t work out well, but it led them to volunteering at the hospital with children, which was perfect. As for Jimmy & Sabrina, they had a very cute couple moment, where Sabrina admitted to pretending to have interest in Hope when it was really Jimmy she was interested in.

This show has been a little crude, a little…white trash, if you will, but since the beginning, it’s been a comedy with a lot of heart, and it never failed to bring the funny. I’ll miss it. (And hopefully we’ll have a better series finale than we did with How I Met Your Mother! 😉

On tonight’s first episode, “How I Met Your Mullet,” Jimmy and Sabrina get a surprise when they learn that Sabrina’s late grandmother has left them the family maid (guest star Lesley Nicol), who has a lifetime contract with the family. Meanwhile, Virginia gets a promotion at work that allows Burt to retire and pursue his passion – even if he doesn’t know what his passion is.

Then, on the series finale, “The Father Daughter Dance,” Virginia’s father, Arnold (guest star Jeffrey Tambor), returns to Natesville seeking help in planning his upcoming wedding. But Arnold surprises everyone when he reveals that the wedding Virginia has planned is really for her and Burt – the dream wedding they never got to have as teen parents.

See the end of a great series tonight on FOX at 9/8c & 9:30/8:30c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/18/13

We’re over halfway through March, which is quickly bringing Easter upon us. I mean, it seems like we just wrapped up Christmas, and now it’s time for the Easter Bunny to visit. Speaking of the Easter Bunny… I just watched Rise of the Guardians over the weekend with the family, and it was one of the best kids movies I’ve seen in a while. I highly recommend it for kids of all ages. Now onto my true love of television and what you should be watching tonight.

hawaiifiveo318smallI have been going through serious Hawaii Five-0 withdrawal because it’s been FOREVER since we’ve seen a new episode. It’s difficult not seeing my TV boyfriend on a regular basis, but then again, any chance I get to see Alex O’Loughlin is a happy day for me. 🙂 This season has been really solid since the beginning, although I’m anxious to see when they’re going to wrap up the Wo Fat story and see where else they can go.

On tonight’s episode, “Na Ki’i,” when a murder victim is discovered in Dog the Bounty Hunter’s vehicle, Catherine goes undercover at a roller derby.

To see if Catherine rolls her way into an arrest, tune in to CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hawaii Five-0 @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching Bones, The Following, 2 Broke Girls, and Mike & Molly.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/11/13

What a weekend! East Coasters are dealing with a blizzard, I was dealing with my in-laws visiting… I’m not sure who had it worse! *snicker* Just kidding. I love my in-laws, and I’m a very lucky girl to have married into the family I did. And from the pictures I’ve seen, once again, I’m glad I live in the middle of the US! Now, whether you are buried under three feet of snow or not, curl up with some great TV tonight. We’ve got you covered on what you should be watching, as always!

castle211smallLast week’s Castle was really good… Beckett faced her mother’s murderer but was unable to do anything but protect him. She tried to cross the line by keeping the letter from everyone, by letting the guy get away before she shot in his direction, but in the end, it didn’t matter. They didn’t need the letter and the guy was caught quickly by Ryan & Esposito and they figured out he was being set up as the bomber. Senator Bracken got away looking like the good guy when he had the guy behind it all arrested, and Beckett had to watch him walk away yet again. Poor thing. But she was rocking the up-do last week!

I’m excited for tonight’s episode because it’s another Firefly reunion…with Gina Torres this time! Yay for cameos!

On tonight’s episode, “Reality Star Struck,” Castle & Beckett get an up-close-and-personal view of a Real Housewives-esque reality TV series, “The Wives of Wall Street,” when they investigate the murder of the show’s rising young star. Meanwhile, Castle’s attempt to give Beckett a Valentine’s Day gift goes horribly wrong. Gina Torres (Suits, Firefly), Gail O’Grady (Drop Dead Diva, Desperate Housewives), Lachlan Buchanan (Pretty Little Liars), and Heather Ann Davis (The Lake) guest star.

See the drama tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Bones, How I Met Your Mother, The Bachelor, Rules of Engagement, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Next Great Baker, The Following, Hawaii Five-0, Continuum, Monday Mornings, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, & Pawn Star$.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/14/13

Sorry this is late. My kiddo is sick with the flu that’s going around (although this morning, I’m wondering if it’s strep…), so I haven’t been sleeping well…until last night, when I crashed just after midnight and slept until noon… But there’s lots on tonight, so check out what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice #1

bones114asmallYay, Bones is back! We haven’t had a new episode in almost a month and a half, and tonight, we’re getting two. I’ve seen both episodes, and they are both just as great as you can expect. Over the course of the last couple of episode, Angela has been becoming increasingly dissatisfied with her job—or rather, not the job itself but the fact that she seems to have lost the artist side of herself. That comes to a head tonight and comes with a resolution that I hope will be good for her yet not take her away from the show (if that makes sense!). Sweets is still staying with Booth & Brennen, which makes me laugh, especially because there’s a cute moment for them. The show got picked up for season 9 recently, so YAY!

bones114bsmallOn tonight’s first episode, “The Diamond in the Rough,” the Jeffersonian team investigates the death of a professional ballroom dancer who was murdered three days before her audition on a popular dancing competition show. In order to solve the case, Brennan and Booth go undercover as dance competitors to see if they can find potential suspects. Mary Murphy, Tyce Diorio, Dmitry Chaplin, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, & Eliana Girard from So You Think You Can Dance, & Vaitiare Au-Harehoe from Dance Your Ass Off guest star.

Then on the second episode, “The Archaeologist in the Cocoon,” the team investigates the murder of a well-known archeologist with a questionable reputation, who came upon a career-defining discovery right before his death. Amy Yasbeck guest stars.

Don’t miss both fun new episodes tonight on FOX at 8/7c & 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bones @ Clicker.
