If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/18/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

znation918smallLast week, Z Nation returned with a bang (or several). The missiles hit their targets, but our resilient survivors managed to dodge the blasts. Citizen Z finally got a chance to get out and fight some zombies and also put out an APB for Murphy, promising a fake reward for whomever brings him to the CDC HQ. So now everyone and his brother is out trying to capture our favorite zombie whisperer. However, Murphy has no interest in going to California; he just wants to enjoy his powers, which he uses to stop anyone who threatens him and his new protege Cassandra. When the rest of the group caught up with Murphy at his new lair, he arranged a zombie stripper show and sneaked out the back once a fight broke out in the club.

Will someone be able to wrangle Murphy long enough to get him to the CDC to find a cure (and try to claim the bounty)? Will Citizen Z leave what’s left of his bunker and join the rest of the group? What new dangers will the group face from the nuclear fallout? I can’t wait to see what zombie and human threats await this group and what other zombie wackiness we’ll get next!

On tonight’s episode, “White Light,” the heroes are reunited but soon find themselves navigating an unexpected tragedy as they engage in fierce fighting with both zombies and bounty hunters who are eager to capture Murphy, dead or alive. Meanwhile, Vasquez makes a strategic decision.

To see what tragedy the group faces, tune in to Syfy at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Continuum and the Doctor Who series 9 prequel short.

znation911smallTonight, Syfy’s zombie action/thriller/comedy Z Nation returns for its second season. When we last left off, the gang had made it to the lab, but when they got there, they found mad scientist Dr. Kurian, a man who had been developing biological weapons, and an army of zombified soldiers. Cassandra’s wound became infected and she was dying, but a bite from Murphy healed her, sort of – she became a half-zombie fighting machine. Doc was wounded in a firefight that broke out at the lab and was bleeding out. Meanwhile, the crazy doctor bolted from the lab, and Murphy followed, without following the proper decontamination procedure, which set off the emergency containment protocols – launching nuclear missiles toward both this facility and toward Citizen Z’s station at the North Pole. When Murphy got outside, he shed his skin like a reptile and took off.

Tonight’s season premiere picks up immediately where the first season left us hanging – our favorite gang of survivors has been even further separated and nuclear missiles are heading their way. Will the group escape the blast? Will Doc bleed out? Will Mack and Addy or Murphy ever rejoin the group? Will they find a vaccine? And what about Citizen Z? What’s he going to do if his facility is destroyed?

While I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead, there’s definitely room for both shows on my TV. They both have very different tones and are entertaining in their own way. I really enjoyed tonight’s episode. It has that nice blend of humor, action, and suspense this show always provides. I’m looking forward to seeing the fallout (no pun intended) of these nukes, what crazy situations these survivors end up in this season, learning more about Murphy’s zombie-controlling powers, and seeing how the larger group ultimately comes back together.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got a chance to talk with the cast and creator of Z Nation about this new season. You can find my videos from the press room at NoReruns.net.

On tonight’s episode, “The Murphy,” moments have passed since Murphy triggered the launch of tactical nuclear weapons, and it’s every man/woman for themselves as the group split up and try to outrun the impending blast. Meanwhile, Citizen Z finds himself battling thawed zombies and unable to communicate with the team, which leads him to make a desperate move that prompts the arrival of a mysterious and deadly bounty hunter.

See how the survivors handle the threats from the nukes and the zombies tonight on Syfy at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/5/14

It has been an insane week around my house, including some snow storms, a case of food poisoning, and a road trip that ended with me sitting in traffic for over three hours! Tonight I am planning on staying home in the comfort of my house, with a cup of tea and watching all the great television that is on, so let’s see what we’re all snuggling up to watch.

grimm125smallWhat’s better on a Friday night but some fighting for justice, Grimm-style? Honestly, in my books, nothing. This season has been strange so far with Nick not having his Grimm abilities, but that hasn’t stopped our natural-born hero from putting himself in danger week after week to save someone else. That’s part of why his character is so likeable, the way he always puts others first, which is a difficult task for most of us. Last week, we watched as Juliette took the potion that turned her into Adalind for a little while, and then Nick had to sleep with her to get his powers back. The powers didn’t return immediately, but while Nick, Hank, and Monroe were out trying to stop a ritual where a person was murdered and sacrificed his powers, making their grand entrance not a moment too soon. I’m happy Nick is finally back to being a Grimm, because the show needs him and so do his friends. Now to see what happens with Adalind and the royals to make this season even more delicious—I’m excited.

On tonight’s episode, “The Grimm Who Stole Christmas,” Nick and Hank are called to investigate a bizarre string of home invasions that lead to an even stranger Wesen phenomena. Monroe has a very special Christmas surprise in store for Rosalee. Meanwhile, Truble comes to a life-changing realization that will affect everyone.

To see how the holidays wreak havoc on our favorite Grimm, tune in to NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Z Nation, Constantine, Shark Tank, and The Amazing Race.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/14/14

I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to the weekend because this week has been a little insane; school functions, doctors’ appointments, and sick kids — this mom is ready for a break. What better way to start this weekend off right than to check out some great television, so check out our recommendations.

constantine1114smallConstantine is a show that I do not watch by myself or in the dark because it is incredibly freaky in my opinion—good but freaky. The demons and spirits are quite unnerving, so I’m more than willing to DVR this and wait to watch with someone. Last week, we watched as John investigated the death of a music producer after he listened to the record Acetate, which turned out to be cursed by the sounds of the leagues of demons claiming a soul. It was some pretty creepy stuff, but in the end, Constantine did an exorcism on the record and sent the demons back to hell. We were also introduced to Papa Midnite, a voodoo priest who was out for his own personal gain and no other reason. At one point, he even cuffed John up, cut him, and left him to bleed to death. I sense that Midnite is going to be an ongoing thorn in John’s side, but I look forward to more battles like these ones.

On tonight’s episode, “A Feast of Friends,” when Constantine’s old friend Gary Lester accidentally releases a powerful demon in Atlanta, John is forced to determine exactly what he is prepared to sacrifice in his battle with the underworld.

To see how John decides what’s worth giving up, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Hollywood Film Awards, Grimm, and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/7/14

What a crazy week. My son’s home from Florida, and we were roughhousing Wednesday night…only to make my glasses completely bent out of shape. Oops. *sigh* I can wear them, but it’s not comfortable—on my face or my vision. I ordered a new pair online, but here’s hoping the prescription I have is right, even though it’s OLD, and here’s hoping the frame I picked out fits and works well with my face. I should get them tomorrow, so we’ll see! (Pun intended. LOL) On that note, check out what we’re recommending tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

bluebloods117smallLast week’s Blue Bloods was, as always, fantastic. A man was beaten so badly in a case of road rage that they weren’t sure he was going to live. He did, thank goodness, but after his niece (who was in a different state altoghether) was threatened by the Albanian mob, he declined to identify the bad guy in a lineup. This guy was one the NYPD had tried multiple times to get for things like murder, and he’d skated every time, so Danny and Frank weren’t very happy. In fact, he sort of skated yet again, when Interpol got him and sent him back to Serbia. Frank wasn’t happy, since there was no guarantee the guy wouldn’t get off light or get out of punishment altogether. Meanwhile, Danny’s new boss seemed at first like she wasn’t going to be someone I would like, but in the end, I loved how she sat down to help Danny with the files. And even though Erin was contemplating going into private practice, I knew she wouldn’t switch sides. There was just no way she could go from prosecuting criminals to doing whatever she had to do to get them off. Nicki will find some other way to pay for college…

On tonight’s episode, “Shoot the Messenger,” Frank is blindsided during an on-air interview when he and the interim District Attorney disagree over an issue. Meanwhile, Danny’s new boss rides along with him, but their methods and personalities clash as they investigate a drive-by shooting. CBS This Morning anchor Norah O’Donnell guest stars as herself.

See how the Regan family deals with problems this week tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Last Man Standing, The Amazing Race, On the Menu, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Cristela, Grimm, Hawaii Five-0, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, & Z Nation.
