I’m torn as to whether or not I am happy with the direction this season of Charmed is taking. On the one hand, it has had a lot of exciting moments, but on the other, I am tired of the sisters not having their powers. Macy still has some powers because of her demon side and Maggie is starting to get bits of power back, but Mel is still just using potions. I want to see the Charmed Ones back to their full strength. Given that the last episode ended with Macy being kidnapped by Harry’s dark lighter, now would be a great time for them to get back to normal so they can save Macy before it’s too late. I’m hoping once their powers return, they will be able to move forward with saving the world again.

On tonight’s episode, “The Truth about Kat and Dogs,” Mel and Maggie attempt to find a missing Macy with a spell while Harry uses a different method – allowing Abigael to help him access his subconscious in an attempt to connect with his dark side.

Find out if they can find Macy tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Magnum P.I., Blue Bloods, and Hawaii Five-0.

I was a little bit ticked off when I started working on the schedule for this week and realized The Great British Baking Show premiered last week on Netflix, and my main source didn’t have it listed when I was doing the schedule last week. But I was also very excited since that meant the show was back, and I love it! Unlike the previous season (but like the seasons before it), they didn’t drop the full season at once. Episodes will air weekly overnight on Thursday night/Friday morning, which means last night, they dropped episode 2.

I won’t spoil last week’s premiere, which I’ve already watched, since this is the first time I’m bringing it up. But I will say it’s a fun mix of contestants again this season (and one young guy is so nervous, he cuts his fingers 3 or 4 times in the first episode! LOL) and the hosts and judges are still as fun and kooky as ever.

Check out episode 2, “Biscuits Week,” now on Netflix.

With only two episodes to sew up the whole story, Swamp Thing found himself in a dire situation to start last week’s penultimate episode. He was held captive by Dr. Jason Woodrue, who was dissecting him in a makeshift portable lab. Woodrue developed a theory that the swamp creature was not Alec Holland, as we’ve believed all season, but a plant that was manifesting as a humanoid that believes they’re Holland. Daniel Cassidy/The Blue Devil woke up in a hospital, confronted by the demonic deal broker who cursed him with his powers. A vision of the future was shared, showing Abby & Liz Tremayne getting slaughtered by mercenaries in a mystery location.

IRL, Abby & Liz went to Woodrue’s house to try to track his location. They spoke with his increasingly insane wife. In the lab, Woodrue tore Swamp Thing’s organs out one by one, despite the fact he was clearly alive. Avery Sunderland recovered with Woodrue’s help and moved directly to having his wife forcibly admitted to an insane asylum. Cassidy accepted his fate, and the power of the Blue Devil possessed him. Abby & Liz used the lead they got from the mad wife and sneaked into the remote, mobile medical lab Woodrue had been using. The gals stopped just short of a room they heard the mercenaries in, when The Blue Devil appeared! Using his demonic powers of electricity and blue flames, he totally killed the shit out of all of them.

That allowed the gals to free Swamp Thing, who wished to return to the swamp to see if Woodrue’s theory was true. Woodrue meanwhile returned home just in time to find his wife dying of an overdose. Abby followed the creature into the swamp where, shockingly, they actually found the body of dead human scientist Alec Holland, proving that Swamp Thing is not Alec!

Now, this show got canceled after one week on the air. It was not given a chance because the state of North Carolina chintz’d out on the tax breaks they had initially offered. The show’s creator did however make a point to tell us to stick around for the post credits for a tease of future content. So maybe the character will see life on a future show? I hope so, because this show has been a great ride, even after being cut down to 10 episodes instead of the originally planned 13.

On today’s episode, “Loose Ends,” The swamp fights back in the season finale. Still reeling with the revelation of the truth behind his existence, Swamp Thing goes on the offensive against Ellery’s mercenary team hunting him. Meanwhile, Abby comes up against Jason Woodrue, who’s crossed the line to save his wife’s life. And as Liz tries to help Dan Cassidy escape the curse of the Blue Devil and leave Marais once and for all, Avery Sunderland attempts to find a resolution to his relationship with Lucilia and Matt Cable.

Don’t miss the finale this morning on DCU at 9AM/8AMc.

I’ll also be tuning in for the 2-hour season finale to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Bring the FunnyI loved Last Comic Standing, so when I heard about the new comedy competition, Bring the Funny, I was thrilled, especially when I learned that Jeff Foxworthy, Kenan Thompson, & Chrissy Teigen are involved as judges. Hosted by comedian Amanda Seales, the show is search for the funniest comedy act. Throughout the competition, the best of the best stand-ups, sketch troupes, and comedic variety acts, from solo comics to musicians, magicians, podcasters, puppeteers, YouTubers, and more…anyone who can make audiences laugh will have the chance to receive the career-changing $250,000 prize package and see their name in lights in the “Bring the Funny” showcase.

On tonight’s episode, “The Open Mic 1,” sketch, variety, and stand-up comedy acts from all over the world give it their all to impress the judges and make it to the next round of the competition in hopes of ultimately winning the $250,000 grand prize.

See if the acts make you laugh tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Chopped Junior, Chopped, & Sweet Home Sextuplets.

Swamp ThingSwamp Thing continues to deliver quality episodes that make the cancellation sting. Last week we opened with a flashback to Avery Sunderland’s childhood. They juxtaposed his inability to kill a bound gator as a child with his ease at disposing of a corpse as an adult. Next we shifted to a pair of men hunting in the swamp late at night for cypress copses and rare mosses. Instead they found a corpse that was wrapped in vine in the trees that fell on the younger man, Todd, and cuts his arm a bit. The next morning in Delroy’s Roadhouse, local bar, Todd reported for work but had insane hallucinations instead.

He saw a snake encircling his arm and began to stab at it with a knife. This scene was seriously #hardtowatch, but before he died, he also scratched Delroy, his boss.

Abby went deep in the swamp to find Alec, requesting a sample of him to test at her lab. When she was analyzing that, he appeared to be a flora/fauna hybrid. Dr. Woodrue asked to study it also. The next day, Delroy had a violent hallucination which led to police officer Lucilia getting scratched. Which meant she got her own crazy rage fit moment, in which Abby got scratched. But she was smart enough to go out into the swamp, where Alec absorbed the poison from her and put it back in the corpse it came from.

This episode really struck home how well they were ready to take story arcs from the comics and drop them into episodic, easy-to-digest episodes. Not really a simple task, considering the obscure character that is Swamp Thing. What else to say? I love this show. I hope DCU revives it someday.

On tonight’s episode, “Drive All Night,” haunted by the ghost of her childhood friend who reemerges from the swamp, Abby’s forced to confront both her past with the Sunderlands as well as the dark forces at play in Marais. Meanwhile, Sheriff Cable learns some disturbing information about her son, while Jason Woodrue shares a revelation about Swamp Thing with Avery Sunderland.

To see how Abby confronts her past, tune in to DCU at 9AM/8AMc.

I’ll also be watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
