If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/13/15

rookieblue813smallRookie Blue has had a good season so far. I was afraid that Marlo’s pregnancy would mean major trouble for Sam and Andy, but so far, they’ve been able to work through it. Hopefully that continues. Meanwhile, Oliver is still a suspect for being the dirty cop and planting the bomb, but I have no doubt whatsoever that they’ll clear his name. The question is: Is Steve Peck really dirty or is this some sort of misdirection?

On tonight’s episode, “Integrity Test,” with Oliver still the prime suspect in the bombing of 15 Division’s evidence room, Andy, Dov, Gail, and Nick come up with a risky and potentially career-ending plan to prove Oliver is being set up by Commissioner Alonso Santana. Meanwhile, Traci shadows Steve Peck, hoping to calm her fears about his involvement in the bombing.

See what Traci learns tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Boom!, Food Fighters, Man vs Child: Chef Showdown, Beat Bobby Flay, & Geeks Who Drink.

rookieblue79smallIt’s been a great season of Rookie Blue so far. I have to admit that I had my doubts, given the way they ended last season with Marlo’s pregnancy and how the writers have treated Andy & Sam in the past. But they both seem to be committed to making it work, and Marlo (so far) doesn’t seem to want to get in the middle of them. How it will continue to play out, I don’t know, but I have my fingers crossed. Meanwhile, last week’s story line with the ultra-conservative/strict/abusive father was crazy. It got even crazier when the little boy tried to poison his sister. I was glad they were able to convince the mom to get her and the kids out of their home situation.

On tonight’s episode, “Uprising,” as tensions are running high in an over-capacity women’s correctional facility, a riot breaks out while Andy, Juliet, Nick, and Gail are there to transfer two inmates. The officers are separated, and a lock-down situation leads to Andy and Juliet being trapped with a dangerous prisoner who is desperate to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, Sam shows up at Marlo’s ultrasound and stays by her side while they anxiously wait to hear if something’s wrong with the baby. Episode was directed by series star Gregory Smith.

See if the officers get out of the prison riot safely tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Boom!, Food Fighters, Complications, Beat Bobby Flay, & Lip Sync Battle.

waywardpines72smallOn last week’s episode of Wayward Pines, we got even more answers. Pilcher gave Ethan a tour of the facilities and explained how project volunteers have devoted their lives to keeping the town’s system running from behind the scenes. The tour ended at the cryo room, where hundreds of bodies were in frozen storage. Meanwhile Kate, Ted, and Harold were plotting some sort of secret plan in a room that was outside of the town’s surveillance. We later discovered that Harold was actually building a bomb. And elsewhere, Theresa grew suspicious of an oddly vacant plot of land in town, but when she questioned Bill about it, he told her to mind her own business.

It will be interesting to see the full extent of this secret radical faction of townsfolk who don’t like what’s going on — how many people are in this group, how much do they know about what’s really going on, and what is their ultimate goal? What does Harold plan to blow up with his bomb? If he wipes out the security gates, will the town suddenly be overrun with Abbies? And at that point, is there any way to hide the truth from the rest of Wayward Pines? Will Theresa investigate Plot 33, and if so, what will she find? Will Ethan and Ben let each other know what they know…and will they clue Theresa in on what’s going on?

I have thoroughly enjoying this series and can’t believe we only have 4 episodes left!

On tonight’e episode, “Betrayal,” Ethan finds a bomb planted in his car, which leads him to question people he thought he could trust; Kate and Harold discuss their fertility issues with Nurse Pam; Ben’s relationship with Amy heats up.

See what Ethan does about the bomb tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, Under the Dome, The Astronaut Wives Club, Rookie Blue, Hannibal, and Complications.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/26/14

Ugh. Welcome back to school. Here’s your yearly dose of sore throats, coughs, and drippy noses. Yes, the little petri dishes are back, which means they soak up every bit of germs they can and then bring it home, infecting not only themselves, but their families as well. My kiddo came home sick last week—stayed home from school for two days—then my husband got it over the weekend and stayed home Monday from work. Monday night? It’s my turn. So it’s all happy happy joy joy here. Josh is still fighting off his cough, Scott just feels blech, and my throat and nose feel like they’re trying to make me cry. To take my mind off our temporary ill health, let’s see what we’re recommending for tonight.

choppedsmallI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I love when Chopped runs a special tournament. The one that’s starting tonight is a biggie. Sixteen previous winners are coming back to compete in one big five-week “Ultimate Champions” tournament. Chefs/cooks from four different groups (pros, amateurs, heroes, & celebrities) compete one group per week, and then in week five, the four winners compete in the grand finale for the chance to win $50,000 and a new car! That’s the biggest prize in the show’s history, but with so many great competitors, it’s no wonder.

On tonight’s episode, “Ultimate Champions: Pros,” four professional chefs have to wrangle and cook eels and figure out what to do with a super-salty veggie for their appetizers. Then, in the entree round, they have to work with a bird and a soda. And a special cheese and a creepy chocolate item appear in the dessert basket.

Find out what the creepy chocolate item could be tonight on Food Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Fighters, America’s Got Talent, Rizzoli & Isles, Royal Pains, Restaurant Startup, Sullivan & Son, & Wizard Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/29/14

Coming off a great night of TV on Monday night, we’re heading into tonight, which is filled with more fantastic shows. I’ve said before that Tuesdays this summer is one of my favorite nights of the week. So check out our recommendations, two shows that I know will help shape up a fantastic night of TV!

Jenny’s Choice

rizzoliisles729smallI think my favorite show this summer has been Rizzoli & Isles. Last week, Maura went out of town for a medical examiner’s conference. When a woman was murdered in her home, it was up to Jane & the rest of the team with the help of Susie to solve the case, which of course they did. Susie made dioramas (or DIEoramas LOL) to help explain her findings. In the end, the husband was the killer because his wife had lost a bunch of weight and was growing away from him. He used stuff from his dental practice to make bullets and then to break them up and disguise the wound tracts, he stabbed her multiple times, setting up their handyman by wearing a hazmat suit and stealing/using the man’s knife, which had his initials carved into it. I loved seeing Jane figure out how the husband planned to get rid of the gun and suit—by mailing it to himself up at his cabin.

On tonight’s episode, “Boston Keltic,” the murder of a rare bookseller brings Jane and Maura into the world of Keltic writings and coded confessions, just as Maura is preparing Jane to meet her new man. Angela’s relationship with Cavanaugh changes pace.

See how Angela & Cavanaugh’s relationship changes tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Fighters, America’s Got Talent, Next Great Baker, Royal Pains, Underground BBQ Challenge, Buddy’s Bakery Rescue, Chopped, Restaurant Startup, & Sullivan & Son.
