When Samantha Bee was not hired to take over The Daily Show, I boycotted that show for a whole year. Fortunately in the interim time, they gave her her own weekly comedy news show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Now in its hilarious third season, I am excited for tonight’s Christmas on I.C.E. Special.

Last week she started with a segment on Trump’s No Call No Show at the White House last week, a new habit he is developing. As she pointed out, it takes a special kind of lazy to not get to work when you work from the home. The second third of the show was devoted to a new streaming phone app called Fox Nation that is launching soon. It looks predictably insane and nowhere near as fun as DCU. She harped on Judge Jeanie’s “10 Minutes of Justice” show that is only seven-and-a-half minutes on average.

She then appeared as “Sam Bee from 2068,” and she was back from the future to warn us that democracy died in 2018. She was referring to the autocratic power grab that the soundly defeated GOP in Michigan, Florida, Ohio, & Wisconsin are making. The politicians that are voted out made last-minute changes to the law that stole from the people the will in government that their vote is supposed to give them. Before zapping back through time, she warned that Ted Cruz’s beard would create Skynet and cause the Apocalypse.

Lastly, Ashley Nicole Black did a podcast on a TV show, which was weird, but she interviewed Stacy Abrams in the process, so that was cool. Together they covered the voter suppression that cost Abrams the governorship in Georgia. It was funny and cute as this show usually is.

On tonight’s episode, “Christmas on I.C.E.,” join Samantha Bee for a less-godless-than-the-usual-liberal Christmas variety spectacular with all the traditional trimmings: music, laughter, joy, deep rage that the administration is separating migrant families, and gingerbread. And did we mention that the whole thing is on ice? Your move, John Legend! But also, good tidings to you.

To see all the fun, tune in to TBS at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching the new Vikings!

Last week was a repeat of SEAL Team because the network didn’t want to compete against the final game of the World Series, so it’s been a couple of weeks since the latest dramatic episode. The B story on that episode was kind of heartbreaking. Stella invited Clay to a party, and he took Brian with him. After the party, Clay and Stella spent the night together, and Brian, who’d worn a gaudy “cowboy” shirt to the party, got lucky with another young woman. The next morning, they were called in early to practice parachute jumping. Clay and Brian were in different jump groups. Clay and his group watched in horror from the ground as Brian’s group did their jump and one jumper had problems with their chute. The backup chute never deployed, and that jumper slammed into the ground full-speed. As Clay watched, every jumper pulled off their helmet…and he realized the one who’d fallen to his death had been Brian. We’d learned a few episodes ago that he & Brian had been friends for a good while, so Clay’s easy-to-see heartbreak was not a surprise. Hopefully this will be the impetus he needs to shape up and really make him do well during the rest of the training/testing.

As for the A story… Jason and the team were sent to an American Embassy in the South Sudan when the ambassador refused to evacuate as the country became increasingly unstable. Sure, he could have refused because he believed absolutely that staying was the right thing to do, but the only reason this guy refused to leave was all due to politics. Leaving would be a “failure” on his part and that wouldn’t be good when it came time for him to be permanently appointed (or whatever). The guy was a complete asshat, but the team finally convinced him to leave for the safety of the rest of the Americans in the small country. It was touch and go getting everyone out of the embassy safely, but with a little trickery, they were able to do it.

I’m enjoying this show more and more every episode, especially when they don’t use any fancy camera work to show us the night vision, etc, like they did the first ep. It still isn’t better than The Brave in terms of characters, but I’m enjoying it! I can’t wait to see how Brian’s death affects Clay going forward and if that shared loss of a friend/teammate gives him and Jason something more in common.

On tonight’s episode, “The Spinning Wheel,” the SEAL Team must work with Jason’s longtime rival, Beau Fuller (Sharif Atkins, White Collar, ER), and his team to plan and perfect a raid under the watchful eye of top military brass. Also, Clay delivers solemn news to a teammate’s next of kin.

See how well Jason and the team work with Fuller and his team tonight on CBS 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The 51st Annual CMA Awards, Law & Order: SVU, Property Brothers, Iron Chef Showdown, Chicago PD, & Criminal Minds.

Tonight, the second season of black-ish comes to an end. Last week Dre had an emotional time dropping Zoey off at college for her two-day pre-college orientation, and what followed was a backdoor pilot for a fun potential spin-off series. Minutes after she arrived, Zoey met and befriended Miriam, the only other seemingly sane person there. She also discovered that Charlie was moonlighting as an adjunct marketing professor at the college. As she and Miriam explored the campus, Zoey met and fell in love with Aaron, a Black Student Union representative who was fighting to protect the all-black dorm from being shut down by the school’s administrators. Zoey learned that due to Dre’s obsession with the McRib, she did not have any housing for the upcoming semester, but her speech to the administrators about keeping the segregated dorms earned her the position of cultural liaison to the administer’s office, which came with housing.

I really enjoyed last week’s backdoor pilot, and I would totally watch that series. It will be interesting to see if ABC announces it as part of their new lineup at next week’s Upfronts. The potential series has a similar feeling to the original, with Zoey doing the narration like Dre does, and her position at the school is not unlike her father’s role at his work. Tonight we return to the rest of the family for the show’s season finale. What adventures await the Johnsons, and is tonight the night the latest addition to the family arrives?

On tonight’s finale, “Sprinkles,” Dre throws Bow’s baby shower and wants it to be unforgettable, but his plans are put on hold when Bow stops by the OB/GYN with a headache and discovers she is having complications.

See if everything works out okay for Bow and the baby tonight on ABC at 9:31/8:31c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Speechless, Modern Family, Designated Survivor, Survivor, Criminal Minds, Arrow, The 100, Fargo, and Archer.
