If you didn’t watch the Canadian import of Private Eyes when it aired back in February, you missed out. It’s such a fun show. Jason Priestley stars as former pro-hockey player Matt Shade, divorced father of a blind teenage daughter named Jules, who stumbles onto a job as a private investigator alongside Angie Everett. Angie, played by Cindy Sampson, has her own single-woman PI firm she inherited from her father, who passed away not too long before the show started. She was reluctant to let Matt join her, but he showed enough promise that she agreed, and their partnership was born. Matt’s ex-wife Becca was away, so Jules was living with him and his father. The relationship between the three of them is very sweet, and Matt’s relationship with Angie is a lot of fun. They had some great cases and chemistry, but it didn’t go beyond friendship and a little flirting. Angie is involved with a police detective (and in fact went on vacation with him at the end of the season finale).

Also in the season finale, Becca was back in town, so their formal custody arrangements were back in play, meaning Matt was going from having Jules full-time to only seeing her every other weekend. He chose to not paint his ex-wife in a bad light to their daughter, even though he’s not happy about the arrangement. And finally, when Angie was on vacation, he found an envelope from Angie’s father to her taped to the bottom of his desk (which was her father’s desk before his death). We don’t know what’s in it, but since it was hidden, it should be fun and interesting to find out!

I’m excited about tonight’s season premiere and urge you to check out this fun show if you haven’t yet!

On tonight’s episode, “The Extra Mile,” Angie returns from vacation to find Shade being thrown out of the window, and that he has a new case. A friend of his has had her racing team’s property vandalized, and the driver has been receiving death threats. Matt meanwhile comes to terms with the new custody arrangement Becca has forced on him but realizes Becca may not have Jules’s well-being at heart. Angie is given the letter that Matt found under his desk.

Find out what was in the envelope and how Matt handles the situation with Becca tonight on ION at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Celebrity Family Feud, Instinct, The $100,000 Pyramid, Food Network Star, Iron Chef America, & To Tell the Truth.

Tonight, AMC’s The Walking Dead returns for the second half of its eighth season. As the first half of the season came to a close, the Saviors retaliated in full force, doing devastating damage to our combined force of good guys. They stopped Maggie and her Hilltop caravan, killed one of the citizens as a show of force to get Maggie back in line, and sent her back to the Hilltop to keep producing their crops/food supply. In the Kingdom, Ezekiel set fires to buy his people some time to escape, before turning himself over to the Saviors. And Dwight stuck to his agreement, helping lure some of the Saviors into a trap that Daryl and Rosita had set but blowing his cover in the process. Meanwhile, Negan and his men attacked and burned Alexandria to the ground. Negan was out for vengeance, and Carl offered himself up as a sacrifice, but Negan wasn’t having any of that. Carl and the others managed to escape the town as it burned via the sewers. However, at the end of the episode we (and Rick) discovered why Carl was so willing to offer himself up — he had been bitten and it was now only a matter of time before he would join the ranks of the undead.

Will they really kill off Carl? (This seems highly likely, despite the showrunner’s recent backpedaling.) And if so, what does this mean for Rick? This whole series started with Rick’s desperate search to find his son — how will Rick change without this driving force in his life? And how will the rest of the group be affected by the loss of Carl? How will Dwight fit into the group now that he can’t go back to the Saviors? Will Eugene ever man up and do the right thing, or will he continue to stick with the Saviors? And will our group ever manage to kill Negan?! I can’t say that I wasn’t extremely disappointed with the way the first half of the season ended — I’ve kind of been disappointed with the series as a whole ever since the arrival of Negan. I really hope the series can course correct in this second half of the season and become the great show it once was. And if this is his final episode, I hope that Carl gets a great send-off and that he can make one final big move on his way out that helps our group.

On tonight’s midseason premiere, “Honor,” Rick faces new difficulties after a battle. Meanwhile, the fight continues in other communities as core members face hard decisions.

See how the group fares tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Celebrity Big Brother, A.P. Bio, Worst Cooks in America, Crashing, and Counterpart.

shannarachronicles2016smallIt may seem at times that all I watch is procedurals or cooking shows, but that’s not true. I am also a sucker for a good fantasy show, and The Shannara Chronicles has definitely caught my interest. It has adventure, magic, and unlikely heroes, all of which make for a fantastic series, not to mention it’s based off a bestselling book series written by the talented Terry Brooks.

In case you missed last week’s 2-hour premiere, here’s a brief rundown so you can easily catch up this week. The show takes place in a magical land known as the Four Lands, eons after the fall of humans. There is a special Elvish tree, Ellcrys, which protects the land from the demon world, but unfortunately it is dying. This sets the trio of Amberle, Wil Ohmsford, and Allanon on a quest to find a new, safe home for the tree before the boundary between the worlds is completely dissolved, bringing an unstoppable demon army into the Four Lands.

If you are a fan of fantasy and adventure, then you simply must tune into watch this show!

On last week’s episode, we got to know the characters and watched as the tree was found to be sick and the trio was formed. There were demons and love stories along with great fight scenes. If it wasn’t exciting enough for you, then you need to re-evaluate your idea of excitement.

On tonight’s episode, “Fury,” Wil and Amberle are kidnapped by Eretria and Cephalo while returning to the palace. But the Rovers are the least of their worries. Wil must learn how to use the Elfstones before a bloodthirsty Fury kills them all.

To see if this unlikely group can defeat the Fury, tune in to MTV at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Teen Wolf, Chopped, and New Girl.
