As we move into tonight’s season three finale episode for Syfy’s Killjoys, we’ve wrapped up most of the major mysteries that the series had left dangling but are still plagued by the unanswered question of will this show get a season four? Last week the episode opened with Dutch and D’avin discussing the fact that killing big bad Aneela will also mean that Dutch dies – such is the nature of the green goo which spawned Aneela. Just then an alarm went off because of an unknown ship docking on the RAC without permission. It turned out to be Delle Seyah, or Kendry as they now refer to her, who requested parlay, specifically with Johnny. Once they conferred privately though, she demanded they turn over Dutch and fully surrender.

D’avin came up with the idea to insert a fake memory into the Hullen memory cloud via the captive Hullen they still had, Kitaan. They intended to lure her into an ambush by providing a fake location for Dutch. To achieve this, they pulled in brain/memory expert Pippin Foster. Dutch inserted a knife between Kitaan’s vertebrae to prevent her from moving while they experimented on her mind. Kendry used the terms of parlay to get a sonogram on her pregnant belly, as she didn’t fully understand her pregnancy. DNA tests revealed that D’avin and Aneela are in fact the parents of the child she carries. Dutch took Kitaan to the Latimer 6 System, where the pool of green from which she was birthed is. So they can destroy her if they destroy that pool. D’avin got into her memory using his special relation with the goo and input the false memory correctly.

Kitaan woke up when she was left alone with Pippin though, and lo and behold: the knife had fallen out and she escaped. She forced Pip to hijack the ship. The timid memory expert confessed the plan to her and she sought to merge with the green goo quickly to upload the new memory, which would show the false one to be a forgery. Dutch showed up and kicked her ass, but not before she got her hand in a jar of the green goo, thusly warning the rest of the Hullen of the treachery.

They then decided to space Kitaan, knowing she wouldn’t die but would likely spin in space forever.

At the end of the episode, D’avin & Dutch had a fierce confrontation when discussing the next move to make. She was determined to go kill Aneela, despite the consequences. The Jaqobis boys didn’t like it, but they accepted her choice. Then for some reason, Dutch went and killed the scarback priest Alvis, who was both her ex-lover and recurring ally. It was an utter WTF?! moment for me, so okay, maybe one more mystery other than renewal. Tune in tonight to see if we get any answers!!

On tonight’s episode, “Wargasm,” the Killjoy militia has gathered everything they need, ready to go to war with Aneela and her Hullen using Delle Seyah as bait. But as the battle begins, Aneela changes the entire game.

See how the season (series??) ends tonight on Syfy at 8/7c.

Last week on Syfy’s Killjoys, the trio of RAC bounty hunting agents started things off with a party to celebrate that Johnny was now finally a Level Five agent like his brother D’avin and their longtime teammate Dutch. The festivities were broken up by other RAC agents arriving to serve Johnny with an old warrant for killing Del Seyah. The orders come straight from the new Reclamation Apprehension Coalition overseer, Banyan Gray. Dutch and Turin stood up for Johnny, but when he admitted he killed her, a tense shoot out began. Johnny & Dutch made their escape with Pree the bartender, who is both a smuggler plus their sometime informant and ally.

Meanwhile, on the Hullen Armada Mothership, Dutch’s evil doppelgänger Aneela was acclimating the recently recruited and very much still alive Del Seyah. Aneela is the default leader of the Hullen species now that her father died in last season’s finale. Seyah was shown that the green goo that fuels her species can fully immerse them into any of their collected memories just by touching it.

Dutch and Johnny made their way to the Ohron moon, where they encountered the obscure group of outlaws known as the Ferran. We discovered that Pree is a disgraced former leader of their band, and he offered himself up to their justice in return for amnesty for both Dutch and Johnny. The Ferran then set up a triathlon competition to represents the two sides of the drama, and Pree picked Dutch as his champion. Cleverly, the Ferran selected Johnny as theirs, as he had already been granted entrance to their ranks by being on the run; that base qualification of “being on the run” is sacred to them and the primary cause of how they formed as a collective.

Back in Westerly, D’avin found proof on security cam footage that Seyah survived the time that Johnny shot her. He used this evidence to force Banyan Gray to cancel the warrant on his brother, but not before a RAC agent took Dutch & Johnny into custody during the third round of their forced contest. Pree was left to face death at the hands of the Ferrans, but let’s be honest, he’s too damned charming to just be executed by his former comrades.

The new nerd tech girl Zeph, who is akin to a future sci version of Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, finally conceived a way to take advantage of D’avin’s prior exposure to the goo, and she was able to send him into a recently created memory that confirmed Seyah is both alive and working with the Hullen. Pree and the Ferran rescued Dutch & Johnny from the rogue RAC agent who still held them as captives.

On the Mothership, Aneela actually saw D’avin invading their space psychically and she ejected him forcibly with a message: Tell Dutch Aneela is coming for her. The very last scene saw Dutch, D’avin, and Johnny all together agreeing to collaborate towards the ends of the Hullen perversion of humankind.

On tonight’s episode, “Attack the Rack,” the Killjoy rebels take drastic measures to clean house: a secret ops attack against their own Rack. But thanks to Aneela’s schemes and a mole among them, not everyone will make it out alive.

Don’t miss all the excitement tonight on Syfy at 8/7c.

In addition to this quickly escalating show, I will also be catching up on my Wynonna Earp & Dark Matter. (P.S. Be on the lookout for my upcoming August interview with Dark Matter/12 Monkey‘s Jeff Teravainen!!!)

Tonight, Killjoys returns to kick off its third season on Syfy. In the second season, our crew crossed paths with a mysterious green plasma that had the ability to turn people into practically unkillable super-soldiers. Khlyen’s people would soon be returning to the Quad to try to reclaim its resources, so he hatched a plan to poison the plasma supply in order to make it (and thus the Quad) useless to them. Dutch, Fancy, and D’avin joined him on this quest, but the task proved to be more complicated than he originally planned, and Khlyen was forced to sacrifice himself for the mission. Afterwards, Dutch asked Fancy and D’avin to join her in a new mission to not only win the battle but also the war. They would find and eliminate Aneela, Khlyen’s evil daughter/Dutch lookalike, and put an end to her quest for world domination. Meanwhile, Johnny, still reeling from Pawter’s murder, shot and killed Nine member Delle Seyah, the woman who murdered his love. He then decided to head off on his own for a while but was joined by the arm-gun toting Hackmod Clara.

The third season picks up shortly after these events. Dutch and her new crew are on a quest to find and wipe out the widespread Hullen hives. While she misses her friend Johnny, she understands that he needs some time away to grieve. However, Johnny is just one of many Killjoys who have recently gone AWOL, and now an oversight committee has been established to figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, Johnny is off on his own journey into the world of the Hackmods, where he meets an interesting new partner, who seems to have a target on her head.

I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere. The series still has that excellent blend of action, humor, drama, and mystery. While the team is currently divided, each group has its own interesting storyline, and I’m sure these will come together before the season is over. Tonight’s episode introduces two fun, potentially recurring characters that would make a great addition to the ensemble. The episode also sets up a few larger mysteries to explore over the course of the season. Friday nights are now fully loaded with a great new Syfy lineup!

On tonight’s season premiere, “Boondoggie,” Dutch and D’avin, with the help of an obnoxious black-market dealer, are on the hunt for a weapon that will draw out the Hullen; Johnny receives an SOS from Clara, leading him into the underground world of Hackmods.

Check out the season premiere tonight on Syfy at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Dark Matter, Wynonna Earp, Playing House, and The Great British Baking Show.

killjoys626smallLast week was the series premiere of Killjoys, and I thought it was incredible. From the premise to the acting, I loved it. Intergalactic bounty hunters makes for a dramatic plot, but it’s broken up by lots of humor, not to mention a sexy cast. Aaron Ashmore as John Jaqobis is probably my favorite casting because there isn’t much that Aaron does that I don’t like, but he is extra sexy in this. We watched last week as John twisted the truth around to save his brother D’avin, and Dutch ended up helping them even after John used her name to claim a warrant on D’avin’s life. In the end, they managed to escape, but now the three of them have to see where they go from here, especially after a mysterious red box showed up for Dutch.

On tonight’s episode, “The Sugar Point Run,” a hostage exchange with a vengeful warlord turns deadly when the Killjoys are stranded in a restricted, bombed-out city overrun with dangerous gangs and scavengers.

To see how this mismatched team handles being faced with a dangerous mission, tune in to Syfy at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Briefcase & Dark Matter.

killjoyssmallI’m so excited about the Killjoys premiere on Syfy tonight – probably the most excited I’ve been about a new Syfy show in a while. Starring Aaron Ashmore (who was great on Warehouse 13, Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror), and Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters), the show follows a trio of interplanetary bounty hunters throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multi-planetary class war. John Jaqobis (Ashmore), Dutch (John-Kamen), & D’avin (Macfarlane) like to play hard and work hard, so I’m hoping that makes for a very entertaining show! If we’re lucky, we’ll get some of the same vibes of “team” and “family” and “fun” that we got from Warehouse 13.

On tonight’s episode, “Bangarang,” Dutch and John are racing against time and a competing Killjoy in an attempt to clear their names and save D’avin’s life.

See if Dutch and John are able to accomplish what they set out to do tonight on Syfy at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Whose Line Is It Anyway? & American Diner Revival.
