Tonight, The Mick returns to FOX to kick off its second season. In the first season, reckless black sheep Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) was forced to care for her niece and two nephews when her wealthy sister went on the lam. What resulted was a hilariously inappropriate Uncle Buck-style comedy that quickly became one of my favorite new comedies of last season. The first season of the series ended with a bang, literally. The Pembertons returned, only to get caught by the police, and in a huge cliffhanger, the mansion went up in flames.

I can’t wait to see where the show goes from here. Without the huge mansion, where are Mickey and the kids going to stay? Do they have any money stashed away, and if not, who is going to take it harder — Mickey or the kids?!

On tonight’s premiere, “The Hotel,” Mickey and the kids are forced to downgrade after their financial advisor cuts them off due to excessive spending; Chip learns tricks from Jimmy on how to live in a luxurious hotel.

Catch tonight’s episode on FOX at 9/8c.

I think my favorite pilot that I got to watch over the summer was NBC’s The Brave, which is why it’s my first pick tonight. Avi Nir, an executive producer of Homeland, is also the executive producer of this one, and even though I didn’t watch Homeland, I know that at least the first handful of seasons it was very popular and a lot of people considered it a great show. So I have high hopes for this one as well. Considering it’s a procedural about the “complex world of America’s elite undercover military heroes,” (in NBC’s words), it’s going to be right up my alley. Also, trust me when I say you don’t want to miss a minute of the action…including the very last minute of the episode!

Anne Heche plays D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell. She and her team of analysts in Washington, D.C., have at the fingertips the world’s most advanced surveillance technology. Adam Dalton, played by Mike Vogel (Under the Dome) leads a Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists. Their unbreakable bond and commitment to freedom helps them to save the lives of innocent people and execute missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world. It also stars Tate Ellington (Noah Morgenthau), Demetrius Grosse (Ezekiel “Preach” Carter), Natacha Karam (Jasmine “Jaz” Khan), Noah Mills (Joseph “McG” McGuire), Sofia Pernas (Hannah Rivera), and Hadi Tabbal (Amir Al-Raisani).

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” when American doctor Kimberley Wells (guest star Alix Wilton-Regan) gets kidnapped by a group with terrorist ties, Captain Adam Dalton and his squad must take action and stop at nothing to save her. Across the world, D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell and her team of analysts guide Dalton along the way through as the group learns that Wells’s disappearance might have ties to something that could be catastrophic.

Don’t miss the exciting premiere tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

Tonight one of my favorite new shows from last season, The Good Place, returns to kick off its second season. Kristen Bell stars as Eleanor Shellstrop, a selfish, self-centered young woman who quickly realized that, due to some kind of error, she was accidentally sent to “the good place” upon her death when she really deserved to go to “the bad place.” Determined to keep this fact a secret from Michael (Ted Danson), the being in charge, she enlisted her assigned soulmate, ethics professor Chidi (William Jackson Harper), to help teach her how to be “good.” However, Eleanor soon discovered that she was not alone and that some others had also accidentally slipped through the cracks — dim-witted Jason (Manny Jacinto) and narcissistic socialite Tahani (Jameela Jamil). The first season ended with an amazing surprise twist that sets up some major changes for the second season.

I thought the first season was sheer perfection. Kristen Bell was forking delightful, and the entire ensemble worked so well together. Each episode would end in some sort of big reveal that always made you anxious to watch the next. So I was a little worried going into tonight’s premiere — how would last season’s finale change this fun, lighthearted comedy? The second season picks up immediately following the events of the finale, and I can happily say the series doesn’t miss a beat. The characters are still the same ones we fell in love with in the first season, and some of the other side characters, such as Real Eleanor, take on a hilarious new role. I checked out screeners for the first four episodes and probably would have binged the entire season in one sitting if it had been available. This show once again had me laughing out loud over and over again — the writers are so witty and constantly come up with fun new twists and turns. I’m so happy this show is back! If you haven’t seen the first season, I highly recommend binging it first, before watching tonight’s season premiere!

On tonight’s one-hour second season premiere, “Everything Is Great!” Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason — who’ve had their memories erased by ambitious master architect Michael — again settle into the Good Place. Eleanor discovers the one clue she left for herself, however, and attempts to piece things together.

Check back in to the Good Place tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, MasterChef, Worst Cooks in America, Channel Zero, The Sinner, and Mr. Mercedes.

Ahh, gotta love it when the fall TV season starts up again! Strap in, ladies and gentlemen. It’s going to be a fun ride as we start up the Remotes again on a pretty regular basis. After a slow summer, I can’t wait!

My pick tonight is the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars. I haven’t been a regular watcher of this show for years now, because most of the time, I couldn’t care less about the celebrities they have on. But this season, I think it’s going to be fun for a few reasons, at least at the beginning. First, there’s married couple Nick & Vanessa Lachey, who are paired up with married couple Maks Chmerkovskiy & Peta Murgatroyd. Some of my other favorites are Debbie Gibson (I mean, I was an 80s music girl…) & Alan Bersten, Drew Scott (I love Property Brothers & their other shows!) & Emma Slater, & Terrell Owens (I’ve liked him for a while since I played fantasty football with him as my top pick) & Cheryl Burke, whom I also love.

Other contestants are Barbara Corcoran (Shark Tank) & Keo Motsepe, Derek Fisher (former Los Angeles Laker basketball player) & Sharna Burgess, Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle) & Witney Carson, Jordan Fisher (Grease: LIVE & singer) & Lindsay Arnold, Lindsey Stirling (acclaimed violinist)& Mark Ballas, Nikki Bella (WWE Diva) & Artem Chigvintsev, Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars) & Gleb Savchenko, and Victoria Arlen (gold & silver medalist in swimming) & Val Chmerkovskiy.

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, each couple will perform a salsa, foxtrot, tango, or cha cha, vying for America’s vote for the first time. No couples will be eliminated on week one, and they will all advance to week two of the competition.

Check out the new celebrities and pick your favorites to win tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRIng So You Think You Can Dance & To Tell the Truth.

It has been a very slow summer for television, which has led to a lack of me… Fear not! I’m back! Tonight there is a show worth writing about, and it is none other than Midnight, Texas.

I have read the novel by Charlaine Harris and enjoyed it, so that made me hesitant to watch the show in the beginning. I’m happy to say I was thrilled with the show. Manfred was cast well, and the story lines surrounding him talking to dead people are well executed and make me love his character more. Last week he proved his loyalty to the town when he helped save the town from the arrival of a nest of vampires who were planning on killing the entire town. Now from here I’m hoping the town can band together and fight the impending evil so they can continue to live their peaceful lives off the grid in Midnight.

On tonight’s episode, “Sexy Beast,” Manfred’s ability to see the dead leads him to uncover an ancient supernatural who seduces and feeds on men. To protect their town’s supernatural anonymity, Manfred, with the help of Fiji, Lem, Joe, and Creek, venture out of the safety of Midnight to a roadside bar to stop the supernatural killer. Meanwhile, Bobo must confront the dangerous bikers who threaten to expose his past. While carrying out a hit, Olivia discovers an unlikely link to her father.

To find out if they can stop this killer in time, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching American Ninja Warrior and Diners, Drive-ins & Dives.
