chicagopd24smallFollowing last night’s episode of Chicago Fire, tonight’s new Chicago PD is smack dab in the middle of the investigation into the arson that killed Shay. Last time, the big news was Erin showing up at the end and asking Voight if her job was still available. Woohoo! I knew her separation from the team couldn’t last long. The task force just wasn’t right for her—she identifies with and cares about the victims too much to focus on the broader big picture and ignore the little people involved. We also met Ruzek’s father, and while I thought for most of the episode that he was an ass, the conversation they had at the bar at the end was really great. And finally, Burgess and Roman were having to get back in the swing of things, trusting themselves and each other, after her shooting. The thing I found most funny about it all was that even if Roman and his ex had been with her, whoever had rung the doorbell would’ve caught the shotgun blast. Just having them up by the door wouldn’t have stopped it from firing. Still, I know he’s just feeling guilty for not being there for his partner.

On tonight’s episode, “A Little Devil Complex,” Antonio and his sister Gabriela (guest star Monica Raymund) go to the office of Elliot Gish (guest star Robert Knepper), the man they believe started the fire that killed Shay. Intelligence along with patrol officers Burgess and Roman put pressure on Gish to try and make him confess. At the same time Desk Sgt. Platt is acting strange and has everyone curious as to why she’s being overly cheery, friendly, and nice.

To see how the team captures T-Bag—I mean Gish—tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, The Mentalist, The Mysteries of Laura, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Top Chef, Mystery Diners, Best New Restaurant, Hot in Cleveland, Wahlburgers, Donnie Loves Jenny, & The Exes.

parenthood129smallTonight, after 6 seasons, NBC finally closes the book on the story of the Braverman family with the series finale of Parenthood. Last week, Zeek decided he was not going to undergo the operation, so Sarah decided to move up the wedding so that her father could walk her down the aisle. Meanwhile, Amber went into labor and gave birth to her son, whom she (predictably) named Zeek; Kristina confronted Jasmine about guilting Adam into agreeing to rebuild the Luncheonette; and Joel moved back in with Julia, but getting things back to normal proved to be a bit of a struggle.

Get those tissues ready because tonight is the last we’ll see of the Bravermans, and since there’s a wedding involved, I expect we’ll see the extended family all return for this finale. What kind of closure will we get? Will Adam and Crosby resolve their differences and find a solution that would still let Crosby keep the Luncheonette while Adam pursues other interests (likely teaching at the new school)? It seems like Amber would be a good partner for Crosby, except that she doesn’t have any money to invest. Will Joel and Julia be successful in repairing their marriage? Will we get a glimpse into what lies in the future for all of the children? And will Zeek survive the night, or will this episode be “One Wedding and a Funeral”?

On tonight’s finale, “May God Bless and Keep You Always,” Sarah prepares for her special day. Meanwhile, Hank has big questions for Zeek and Drew; Amber adapts to motherhood; Julia and Joel get a phone call that prompts a crucial decision; and Kristina presents Adam with a plan for the future.

Don’t miss the final episode tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

atoz122smallUnfortunately, the NBC comedy A to Z comes to a close tonight after just 13 episodes. Last week, Andrew got a visit from his father, and Zelda tried everything to win him over, but nothing seemed to work. However, Andrew soon realized that his father was just worried that his relationship with Zelda would leave little time for his father. Meanwhile, Lydia tried to implement a new policy at Wallflower, requiring that all membership cancellations had to be done in person, but this kind of backfired on her. However, her relationship with Dane still seems to be going quite well.

Andrew and Zelda haven’t even moved in with one another yet, and we are already at the series finale of the show! How will it end? Did the writers take the early news of their demise to heart and write a satisfying conclusion to this 13-episode story? Will we get some sort of fast-forward montage? Or will we just be left hanging, wondering what happens to this couple at the end of their 8 months of dating? And what about the rest of the characters? It seems like a lot to fit into one half-hour, but I’m hoping for the best tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “M Is for Meant to Be,” Andrew’s former girlfriend arrives, stirring up tension and causing Zelda to feel threatened. In addition, Zelda mulls over making a big career move. The series finale.

Find out how it ends tonight on NBC at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Elementary, Parenthood, Backstrom, Archer, and Babylon.

criminalminds121smallI admit that I am not as big a fan of—or as loyal a viewer of—Criminal Minds as I used to be. Most of that has nothing to do with the cases but has everything to do with the way the writers have treated Morgan and Garcia. It angers me when I look back at the first three seasons or so and compare them to now. It’s like in the beginning, they were thinking that at some point, they were going to get them together as a couple, but later on, they decided that wasn’t a good idea and they backed off how they are together. I even read several things a while back that said Morgan and Garcia’s relationship was that of a brother and sister. I’m sorry, but I have a brother, and there’s no way in the world I would say the things to my brother that those two characters say to one another. That would just be creepy. So now, I tend to skip an episode if I know Morgan’s girlfriend or Garcia’s boyfriend (I’m not even sure she has one…??) are going to be on. And that pisses me off.

That being said, I still enjoy the show when I do watch it—and I love having Jennifer Love Hewitt back on my TV weekly—and last week was no exception. I actually missed (or maybe I just don’t remember??) the episode(s) when JJ was tortured, so I learned about it all for the first time. It was hard to watch. And the case last week cruel, with the people being frozen to death by the sicko. I was so happy when the father and son were reunited and the little boy realized who the man was and threw himself into his dad’s arms. I hope JJ can get the help she needs. Poor Spencer, in the unenviable position of knowing something is very wrong but stuck because he promised his friend he wouldn’t say anything.

On tonight’s episode, “Anonymous,” which was directed by series star Joe Mantegna, the BAU searches Tallahassee for a serial killer who calls the authorities to report the crimes prior to committing murder. Also, as Rossi prepares for a weekend visit with his daughter, Joy, he receives startling news about the death of a comrade in Vietnam.

Find out how the team catches the killer tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, The Mentalist, Law & Order: SVU, Top Chef, Best New Restaurant, Chicago PD, Hot in Cleveland, Wahlburgers, Donnie Loves Jenny, & The Exes.

chicagopd114smallLast week was an exciting week for Chicago PD. Watching the bad guy nearly get the best of them so many times made for a tense episode, but in the end, the good guys won, of course, rescuing the final victim and catching the bad guy. But I gotta say that the personal stuff right now is just as interesting as the cases. Seeing Ruzek at the hospital with Burgess was great. (I swear, that’s the first time I’ve ever felt like I had a crush on him…) I was surprised (but not, because that’s what I’d guessed from the episode description) when Voight offered Erin’s position to Burgess, but I’m wondering what’s going to happen with her. She told him she had to think about it, then lied to Ruzek, and then woke up in the middle of the night to stare blankly into the bathroom mirror… Is she scared of working with Ruzek for fear they’ll end up like Roman and his ex? Scared of working Intelligence? Or just scared to go back on the job completely? Then, of course, we have Erin… This week she’s working with her new task force, but they’re working WITH Intelligence. But how long will that go on? I haven’t heard anything about her leaving the show, but I can’t imagine they’d keep her separate from them for long either, so… However it plays out, I’m VERY excited for tonight’s episode, given the preview I saw.

On tonight’s episode, “We Don’t Work Together Anymore,” Lindsay has her first case with the task force and realizes she needs to call on Voight and the Intelligence unit to assist. Meanwhile, Burgess is back on the job but relegated to desk duty which allows Desk Sgt. Platt the opportunity to partner up with Roman.

To see the teams work together to take down the bad guys, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, The Mentalist, The Mysteries of Laura, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, black-ish, Hot in Cleveland, Top Chef, Wahlburgers, Donnie Loves Jenny, & The Exes.
