If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/29/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

parenthood129smallTonight, after 6 seasons, NBC finally closes the book on the story of the Braverman family with the series finale of Parenthood. Last week, Zeek decided he was not going to undergo the operation, so Sarah decided to move up the wedding so that her father could walk her down the aisle. Meanwhile, Amber went into labor and gave birth to her son, whom she (predictably) named Zeek; Kristina confronted Jasmine about guilting Adam into agreeing to rebuild the Luncheonette; and Joel moved back in with Julia, but getting things back to normal proved to be a bit of a struggle.

Get those tissues ready because tonight is the last we’ll see of the Bravermans, and since there’s a wedding involved, I expect we’ll see the extended family all return for this finale. What kind of closure will we get? Will Adam and Crosby resolve their differences and find a solution that would still let Crosby keep the Luncheonette while Adam pursues other interests (likely teaching at the new school)? It seems like Amber would be a good partner for Crosby, except that she doesn’t have any money to invest. Will Joel and Julia be successful in repairing their marriage? Will we get a glimpse into what lies in the future for all of the children? And will Zeek survive the night, or will this episode be “One Wedding and a Funeral”?

On tonight’s finale, “May God Bless and Keep You Always,” Sarah prepares for her special day. Meanwhile, Hank has big questions for Zeek and Drew; Amber adapts to motherhood; Julia and Joel get a phone call that prompts a crucial decision; and Kristina presents Adam with a plan for the future.

Don’t miss the final episode tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/23/14

We’re a few days into the new season, and I couldn’t be happier. How good have the new shows been? I’m so glad to see some of my returning favorites, too. There’s a lot more of that tonight. Megan is without internet until the company fixes what they screwed up, so Kyle & I are here to give you our recommendations.

Jenny’s Choice #1

ncisnola923smallMy first pick tonight is the series premiere of NCIS: NOLA. (New Orleans, for those who don’t speak the lingo…) Yes, this is a spinoff of NCIS, but considering how much I love both the original and the Los Angeles version, it’s no wonder I love this one as much as I do. Last season, there was a double episode of the original series, introducing the NOLA team, set in New Orleans. Special Agent Dwayne Pride (Golden Globe Award winner Scott Bakula, Men of a Certain Age, Star Trek: Enterprise, Quantum Leap), aka “King,” a native of New Orleans who is a lot like Gibbs, only a little more relaxed in both temperament and in following the rules but no less a good man, is the leader of the team and an old friend of Gibbs. On Pride’s NCIS team is Special Agent Christopher LaSalle (Lucas Black, American Gothic), who is the…Tony of the group, for lack of a better phrase. He plays hard but works harder, but don’t think that makes him any less of a great agent. Also on the team is Special Agent Meredith “Merri” Brody (Zoe McLellan, Dirty Sexy Money, JAG), a charismatic and tough interrogator who transferred from the Great Lakes office in search of a fresh start. Supporting them is coroner Dr. Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder, Warehouse 13, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield), who is as eccentric as she is smart—she is a great match for Ducky in the fun and interesting character department.

Besides the two episodes last season, I’ve seen tonight’s premiere already, and it’s an interesting but heartbreaking case, especially for King. I loved the show, and I can’t wait to see the premiere again and then all the episodes to come.

On tonight’s episode, “Musician Heal Thyself,” a case turns personal for Pride when the body of a Petty Officer is identified as a former gang member he once mentored. Meanwhile, Brody continues her search for the perfect place to call home in New Orleans. David McCallum (Ducky on NCIS), James McDaniel, and Steven Weber (Chasing Life, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Wings) guest star.

To see if you fall in love with another NCIS team, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/19/14

What a crazy night last night was for TV. MasterChef was intense. If you didn’t watch, you’re missing out! As for tonight, there’s some great stuff on, so check out our recommendations!

rizzoli&isles819smallLast week on Rizzoli & Isles, I thought for sure Jane was going to become a foster mom to the homeless teenage girl from the previous episode, but I wasn’t shocked or even really unhappy when she set up the nurse to foster her instead. It was a great fit. You could see the happiness and relief on the girl’s face when the nurse started to “mom” her. Jane, meanwhile, didn’t know what to think or how to feel about losing her baby. She was obviously sad, but it seemed like she was in shock and kind of numb more than anything. I did love seeing all the love everyone gave her when they came to visit in the hospital. On the case side of things, it was very sad and very interesting…the mummified corpse of a woman who was so secluded and so distanced from everyone around her that (almost) no one knew she wasn’t still alive. So sad. 🙁

On tonight’s episode, “Phoenix Rising,” Korsak is involved in the investigation of an exceedingly cold case, so the team steps in to try to provide him some assistance. Jane decides to take some unorthodox means in order to stay involved with daily occurrences at the office.

See how Jane keeps in touch tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Fighters, America’s Got Talent, Next Great Baker, Royal Pains, Chopped, Restaurant Startup, Sullivan & Son, & Wizard Wars.
