Tonight, FOX kicks off the new drama Almost Family, the latest series from executive producer Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and writer Annie Weisman (About A Boy, Desperate Housewives). Julia Bechley (Brittany Snow, Pitch Perfect) has grown up as the only child of renowned fertility doctor Leon Benchley (Timothy Hutton, American Crime, Leverage)…at least that’s what she believed. Julia’s world is about to come crashing down when it’s discovered that her father used his own sperm to help over 100 women become pregnant. Being his partner in the clinic, Julia now has to deal with the fallout, both emotionally and legally.

As Julia deals with her father’s betrayal and starts to explore the breadth of the incident, she is upset to discover that one of her potential siblings is former best friend, now lawyer, Edie Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke, The Following, 90210) – the two had a falling out when Edie stole and married the guy Julia loved. Another one of the potential “Benchley Babies” is former Olympic athlete Roxy Doyle (Emily Osment, The Kominsky Method, Young & Hungry), who wouldn’t be that upset to discover that the parents who are still trying to make money off of her former glory might not be her real parents. For better or for worse, this unusual situation has brought these sisters together. They’ve started to form a bond and will be the ones to help one another weather the storm of their forever-changed lives. And this nontraditional family will likely grow as additional siblings come out of the woodwork.

I quite enjoyed tonight’s premiere – this series has a really great cast. In addition to establishing the main premise of the series, the first episode also sets up some other interesting storylines and character dynamics to explore. It doesn’t make light of this serious situation – it seems like Leon isn’t going to just get a slap on the wrist – but the episode does have some really fun moments. I look forward to seeing more of the fallout of this scandal and how the characters deal with it.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” only child Julia finds her life turned upside-down when her father makes a startling revelation.

Join the Benchley family tonight on FOX at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Schooled, Modern Family, Single Parents, Stumptown, Survivor, The Masked Singer, and American Horror Story: 1984.

When a big, long-running show ends, it usually marks the end of an era, and that’s truly the case with tonight’s series finale of The Big Bang Theory. All season, we’ve been seeing repeat guest stars, story lines wrapping, and the show preparing the characters and the audience for the end. That’s why getting advance notice of a series ending is so important. That doesn’t mean everything will wrap up with a nice and tidy bow. As of last week, Raj is single again. Sure, he may have a “meet cute,” romance-movie moment where he meets a woman and it looks like she’s the one. But that’s all it’ll be, since we won’t get to see their relationship grow like we have the others – including Stuart and Denise, who said their I-love-yous and agreed to move in together last week! I do hope we at least see Raj get his “moment,” though. And surely one of the characters will be pregnant… Will it be Amy & Sheldon? We know both are open to and/or want kids. Or will it be Penny & Leonard, who are on opposite sides of that wish? Or…will no one end the show with another kiddo on the way? Will Sheldon & Amy win the Nobel Prize? Surely they will, right? Now that Leonard’s relationship with his mom is in as good a place as it can be, there’s no other parental relationship up in the air…except for Howard’s father. Will the series end without so much as a single visit? Or maybe a repeat visit from his surprise brother, who we’ve only seen and heard of that one episode? Ahhh! So much to think of and only an hour left…

Of course, then after the Young Sheldon finale, there’s the half-hour special, where we get a look back at the show, so if you’re a fan, you won’t want to miss it!

On tonight’s first episode, “The Change Constant,” Sheldon and Amy await big news.

Then on “The Stockholm Syndrome,” Bernadette and Wolowitz leave their kids for the first time; Penny and Leonard try to keep a secret; Sheldon and Amy stick together; and Koothrappali makes a new friend, as the gang travels together into an uncharted future.

Later tonight, on “Unraveling the Mystery: a Big Bang Farewell,” actors Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco host a retrospective look at the show, sharing backstage secrets, unforgettable clips, personal memories and favorite moments; features tours of the iconic sets.

Don’t miss the exciting and emotional 1-hour series finale starting at 8/7c and the 30-minute special at 9:31/8:31c, both on CBS.

Last time on S.W.A.T., when a Mexican federal agent undercover with a drug-dealing gang went missing, Jessica Cortez and Chris went undercover down in Mexico to try to find him and rescue him. Cortez was undercover with them before and helped bring some of the old guard to justice, so she was their “in” with the gang again. The rest of the SWAT team stayed back in LA to try to track the missing agent there at home. It was rough for them because Jessica and Chris had to go in without any coms whatsoever. Jessica had to play up a relationship with the new head of the gang, and it all worked great…until it didn’t. They found out where the guy was being held just before their cover was blown, but it all worked out. The team found him safe (not unharmed, but better off than it could have been!) and Cortez and Chris got back home safely themselves. Meanwhile, Hondo visited his mom to help her around the house, and she talked with him about some of the rough time he’s going through. After his breakups with Cortez and then the attorney, Hondo is beginning to spiral emotionally, I guess, and that starts to affect his work on tonight’s episode, which should be interesting, especially since Deacon is having such bad money problems, given the issues with the house and the new baby on the way. So that should be fun to see…

On tonight’s episode, “Encore,” the SWAT team races to find a militant group that escaped their capture months earlier, when the criminals take hostages in exchange for a $500 million ransom from five corporations they deem corrupt. Also, Hondo’s emotional turmoil begins to affect his team leadership.

See if the team can find the bad guys tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, The Titan Games, Top Chef, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dr. Pimple Popper, Will & Grace, & Beat Bobby Flay.

Tonight, NBC’s The Good Place returns to kick off the first of its final three episodes of the season. When we last left off, Shawn and his demons from the Bad Place had found Michael and the others. The group managed to escape into Janet’s void. However, this killed the humans in the process. While in the void, the humans all took on Janet’s appearance. Eleanor and Chidi confronted their romantic past and feelings, and Jason and Tahani learned that Janet and Jason had been married at one point in their Good Place iterations. Meanwhile, Janet and Michael headed to Accounting to see if they could figure out what was going on. Michael was shocked to discover that in the past 521 years, no one had made it into the Good Place. If even the Doug Forcetts of the world weren’t getting into the Good Place, something fishy had to be going on! So Michael transported everyone into an empty office in the Good Place so they could investigate things further.

This show is constantly throwing all kinds of unexpected twists and turns at the viewer so that you never know where it will go next! Will Michael figure out how the Bad Place is manipulating the point system so that no one gets into the Good Place? What will Jason and Tahani do with this news about Janet’s feelings for Jason? And what other adventures and twists await our group as they return once again to the Good Place (the real one this time)? It’s sad to think that there are just three episodes left this season!

On tonight’s episode, “The Book of Dougs,” Michael presents his case to the Good Place Committee; Chidi tries to calm Eleanor down; Tahani struggles to help Jason and Janet.

Learn what the Good Place Committee decides tonight on NBC at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Fam, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gotham, The Orville, and Top Chef.

So if you’re anything like me, you go nuts every comic book TV show that they make…and you watch these shows even when they’ve become gratingly awful, which brings us to tonight’s big return, my beloved #SloMoSharkJump: Gotham! This show actually peeled itself back from the ledge of corny and finished strong, making this final season that much more exciting. Last year we saw Selina Kyle, the Catgirl, going into the ER after a shot to her vertebrae by Jeremiah, the Joker. GCPD was busy collecting his bombs, but he promised there was one they didn’t know about. He would only reveal where when Bruce Wayne came to face him. Meanwhile, a small consortium of Gotham’s biggest villains watched Dr. Hugo Strange resurrect the undead Solomon Grundy.

A general showed up to take over as the city was being evacuated and martial law was being put in place. He arrested Gordon for insubordination and ordered him taken out of the city, but Riddler kidnapped him during transit. Ed wanted Jim dead so Lee could finally leave that part of her life behind. He was crushing Jim under a huge industrial-sized press when Lee came in. She convinced Riddler that she was over Jim and ready to leave the city with Ed Nygma that night. Gordon, spared of his crushing death, returned to the police station. Ra’s al Ghul confronted Barbara and invited her to leave the city with him.

She declined. Bruce confronted the Joker, who revealed there were no extra bombs but that he needed to lure Bruce to where al Ghul could kidnap him. He absconded with both young Master Wayne and all the original bombs.

Alfred, Tabitha, Barbara, & the Penguin all went after Ra’s as Gordon realized the bridges were the target for the bombs. He ordered the bridges be cleared. The General again tried to arrest him, but GCPD all turned their guns on him. Knowing that only Bruce’s hand could slay Ra’s al Ghul, Barbara put the blade in Wayne’s hand and guided it into al Ghul’s chest. This happened as all the bridges got destroyed, leaving Gotham an isolated powerless island. As Ra’s disintegrated into ashes, he urged Bruce to “become the Dark Knight.” When it came time to leave the city, Lee decided to stay, so she and Riddler wound up stabbing each other. They kissed before collapsing to die – Hugo Strange found them though, so they were destined to be resurrected. Grundy was returned to life as Butch, but only long enough for Penguin to kill him in front of Tabitha. He wanted revenge for when she killed his mother. Bruce was offered a chance to get out of the city, but he stayed to fight the gangs that were already taking over.

Along with Gordon, Luscious Fox, and a few other cops, there was almost no one left to fight the rise of these pillaging gangs. Which brings us to tonight!!! I can’t wait to see how Bruce and Jim do against this dystopian version of Gotham. So much ass shall be kicked.

On tonight’s episode, “Year Zero,” Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne face the chaos Gotham City has become. Their mission to keep the city safe becomes more complicated as the villains who survived the attack on the city begin to resurface and claim various territories. Meanwhile, Selina Kyle grapples with how to deal with her uncertain future.

See how Jim and Bruce handle the chaos tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Orville.
