chicagopd105smallLast week’s Chicago PD got a little bit more back to normal after the first episode dealt primarily with the fallout from Voight’s actions after his son’s death. And last week was very timely, given what’s going on in the country right now. When a young white couple was beaten up and the woman went missing in a primarily (all?) black neighborhood basically run by one of the city’s gangs, Intelligence and the rest of CPD had to work to make sure it wasn’t about race but simply about finding the missing woman. Of course, I had to feel for the woman when we figured out her fiancé had gone there to buy drugs and she was collateral damage. Thankfully, they were able to find her, but not before she was horrifically attacked by a guy who had been in prison before for rape. It was a very sad case.

The other big thing was Platt going up against Tay’s former boss, Commander Fogel. In the premiere, he ran into Tay at the hospital and learned she’d been moved to the 21st. So last week, he confronted Platt about going around him (to which she snarked she didn’t… She went above him. Hah!) to get Tay transferred. Then he basically threatened her and told her to move Tay back to his district immediately. When Tay asked her later if things were okay between her and Fogel, Platt said everything was fine…but it isn’t, and I have to wonder if that is part of what is up with tonight scary exciting episode…

On tonight’s episode, “All Cylinders Firing,” when Platt goes to her father Robert’s (guest star Chelcie Ross) house for dinner, she warns him to be careful with his new girlfriend Natalie (guest star Lilia Vassileva). Following dinner, Platt is physically assaulted as she’s getting into her car and is rushed to Chicago Med. Christian Stolte (Mouch from Chicago Fire, and Platt’s husband) also guest stars.

Find out if Platt is going to be okay tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

notomorrow104smallTonight kicks off The CW’s fall premiere week, and joining the network’s Tuesday line-up is new romantic comedy No Tomorrow. Evie Callahan (Tori Anderson, Killjoys) likes order in her life and enjoys making herself lists. However, her life is in a bit of a rut – her boss Deirdre (Amy Pietz, The Nine Lives of Chloe King) doesn’t take her ambitions seriously, and things with on-again/off-again boyfriend Timothy (Jesse Rath, Defiance) are going nowhere. Meanwhile, free-spirited Xavier Holliday (Joshua Sasse, Galavant) has calculated that an asteroid will wipe out mankind in just 8 months and 12 days and has decided to live life to the fullest by checking off everything on his bucket list, which he calls his Apocalyst. When Evie meets Xavier, it’s love at first sight, and even though she doesn’t believe the world is going to end, Xavier’s charming personality and upbeat and adventurous attitude is just what she needs to help add some excitement back into her life. But she’s also a little concerned that Xavier might be crazy, and so Evie enlists the help of conspiracy theorist Hank (Jonathan Langdon, Game On) and nihilist Kareema (Sarayu Blue, Monday Mornings) to help her figure this out.

This is the first new show of the season I’m recommending sight-unseen. However, the premise sounds fun, the show looks pretty promising based on the trailer, and I’ve really enjoyed the cast’s previous work (especially Joshua Sasse in Galavant). I can’t wait to check out tonight’s premiere! Plus, the lighter tone of the series should make it fairly good companion to The Flash in tonight’s CW line-up.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a female procurement manager falls for a freewheeling man who believes the apocalypse is imminent, and the two begin a journey to complete their individual bucket lists.

See how Evie and Xavier meet tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Flash, Halt and Catch Fire, Aftermath, and Chrisley Knows Best.

theflash524smallTonight, the second season of The Flash comes to a close on The CW. Last week’s episode picked up right as Zoom had amassed an army of Earth-2 meta-humans and had brought them to Earth-1 to take over Central City. While the group quickly got to work on a plan to stop the meta-humans, Wally took to the streets to join the fight vigilante-style. Joe was worried and asked Barry to help bring Wally home. However, Barry was thrown off his game when he discovered the leader of the attack was the Black Siren – Laurel Lance’s (aka the Black Canary’s) Earth-2 doppelganger. Eventually the group at STAR labs came up with a plan to blast a sound at a particular frequency that would render anyone from Earth-2 unconscious. The plan, which also involved Caitlin and Cisco going undercover as Killer Frost and Reverb, seemed to be a success, and they were able to round up all the Earth-2 meta-humans. However, Zoom managed to open a rift and escape, and Dr. Wells was nearly killed when he gave his protective headphones to his daughter after hers started to fail. At the end of the episode, Zoom returned to get his revenge – he grabbed Henry and brought him to the same room where Barry’s mother died and stuck his reverberating hand through Henry’s chest as Barry watched in horror.

What a cliffhanger… I’m so glad we still get one more episode tonight! Will Barry be able to avenge his father’s death and finally kill Zoom? Will we finally find out who the man in the iron mask is in Zoom’s lair? How is Wally going to react to discovering that Barry is the Flash? And will Cisco figure out how he unleashed that Reverb-style blast, and will he be able to recreate it and harness this power?

On tonight’s finale, “The Race of His Life,” season 2 ends with Zoom revealing his true plan and Barry vowing to do whatever it takes to stop him.

Find out how the season ends tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Price Is Right Primetime Special – Big Brother Edition, Fresh Off the Boat, The Real O’Neals, Containment, Chrisley Knows Best, and First Impressions with Dana Carvey.

whoseline2016smallWe’ve had a bunch of finales the last couple of weeks, so it’ll be my great pleasure to watch a premiere instead, and there isn’t a better one right now than Whose Line Is It Anyway? on The CW. And there have been a LOT of remakes of shows, both with new characters and story lines and ones that just continue from where they left off. I was oh-so-thankful when they brought this one back, especially since they kept three of the funniest and most talented men on television: Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, and Ryan Stiles. If you haven’t seen the show, the basic premise is this: the performers are given a setting, style, or other instructions and have to come up with the funniest improve performances they can dream up – and what they dream up is AMAZING. It never fails to blow my mind just how creative and brilliant these performers are.

On tonight’s first episode, the guest comic is Gary Anthony Williams, while Alfonso Ribeiro also guests. Then on the second episode, the always fantastic Keegan-Michael Key guests.

Check out the always funny performances tonight on The CW at 9/8c & 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kids BBQ Championship, Person of Interest, & Blindspot.

legendsoftomorrow519smallTonight, the first season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow comes to a close. Last week, Rip, Martin Stein, and Ray Palmer were locked up in the prison at the Vanishing Point. Just as the Time Masters were about to have Chronos execute them, Leonard Snart and Sara Lance showed up to save the day. And it turned out that Mick had been able to resist his re-programming. The group then set out to destroy the source of the Time Masters’ time manipulation abilities, the Oculus. When they arrived at the wellspring, they found it well-guarded. And ultimately Snart volunteered to sacrifice himself in order destroy the Oculus. This left Savage without the power of the Time Masters to manipulate time for him, and so it seemed like it was just a matter of time (so-to-speak) until he would no longer be in power. However, Savage revealed that he had his own time machine and that he didn’t need the Time Masters anyway.

Will this team ever find a way to stop Vandal Savage? Where/when will they head next, and what is their next plan of attack? I’m looking forward to seeing how the season ends and what the show’s creators set up for next season. I’m kind of hoping they find a way to resolve this Vandal Savage story line or expand the universe so that we can explore some new villains next season.

On tonight’s finale, “Legendary,” season 1 ends with Rip returning the team to Central City a few months after they first left. They return to their normal lives and must decide individually whether to sacrifice everything in order to save the world. Meanwhile, Sara visits with her father, who delivers some heartbreaking news about her sister.

Find out what decisions everyone makes tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, The Blacklist, Bones, The 100, Archer, 60 Days In, & Orphan Black.
