NBC’s The Good Place continues to be a lot of fun and filled with unexpected twists and turns. Last week we sped through a year in the life of the characters. Michael and Janet were now trapped on earth without their powers and resorted to using hidden cameras to track the progress of the humans. Every time it looked like a member of the ethics study group was going to leave, they stepped in to fix things. First Eleanor needed money in order to afford to stay in Australia, so Janet used her knowledge to obtain an $18K lottery ticket. Next, Tahani was getting “mad horny” and was about to have sex with Jason, so Michael and Janet arranged for a meet cute with her ex Larry Hemsworth (the often-forgotten brother of the famous ones). However, things went a little too well, and six months later they were engaged. At their engagement party, Tahani announced that they were planning to move back to London. Eleanor didn’t like the idea of the group breaking up – this was the first time she felt a part of something – and lashed out. Michael decided they needed to reset the earth timeline, so he summoned a door back to the afterlife, but the humans happened to walk by and saw it, leading them to ask What the Fork?!

This seems very familiar – Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason discovering that all is not as it seems. How much do they know/suspect? Will Michael just tell them everything? And how would knowing about their long history together change the group? Or will Michael just reset things, causing the humans to be none the wiser? And if Michael does use the door to go back to the afterlife, will the Judge stop him before he can reset the timeline or prevent him from returning to earth? I have been thoroughly enjoying this season and am really anxious to see what happens next!

On tonight’s episode, “Jeremy Bearimy,” Eleanor and the gang explore the three main branches of ethical thought after learning the truth about their history with Michael and Janet.

Learn along with the group tonight on NBC at 8:30/7:30c

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Superstore, Will & Grace, and I Feel Bad.

Tonight, one of the best comedies of the last two years returns when The Good Place airs on NBC at 8pm. It’s a special hour of the show, which follows the afterlife of 4 morally dubious humans, one demon torment architect, & the lovely and polite robotic helper Janet. In case you forgot what happened at the end of last year’s rollercoaster ride of a season, let me remind you! After escaping from the fake “Good Place” to the central city that all angels, demons, and judges live in, the human stars Elanor, Chidi, Jason & Tahani get their moment before Judge Gen.

Played by Maya Rudolph, the judge was ready to have them all sent to “limbo’ style” Medium Places until a more formal decision could be made. Michael made an impassioned speech on behalf of the humans, and instead of the Medium Place, they instead re-inserted them all back into life, at the moment of death. They saved them all with a slight “push” to prevent their disastrous deaths. Struck by her near-death experience, Elanor decided to get her shit together. She quit her job and started working soliciting money for saving the environment. She even became a vegetarian. But after a half year, she grew bored of being good and opted for a Taylor Spliffed concert instead of work. (Yes, that’s a reggae band that covers Taylor Swift songs!)

Michael, who was monitoring them all, sneaked down to Earth to leave her a hint that led her to Chidi. After a night drinking together, Michael asked her, “What do we owe each other?” which led her to a YouTube video of Chidi lecturing on ethics & morality. And like totally sane people do, she tracked him down and flew to Australia to meet him. Cue season three!

On tonight’s episode, “Everything is Bonzer,” Michael intervenes in the near-death accidents of Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason on Earth, in hopes that a second chance at life allows them to become better versions of themselves.

Catch up with the gang tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching the premiere of the Murphy Brown reboot, because that’s just weird.

Tonight, The Good Place returns for the first of its final 5 episodes of the season. When we last left off, Michael was worried that Janet’s dimwitted new boyfriend Derek was going to go blab to Vicky, so he sought advice from Eleanor and Chidi on how to handle the situation (besides just killing Derek). Meanwhile, Jason and Tahani went off on a weekend getaway, where Jason proposed to Tahani. The two planned to get married later that day on the beach, but the rest of the group rushed to stop them. Eleanor told Tahani that in a past iteration, Jason had been married to Janet, and that was enough for her to call off the wedding. Janet was then forced to confront her feelings for Jason, and this caused her to dispose of Derek herself. Finally, Eleanor showed Chidi the VHS tape of the two of them professing their love for one another in a past iteration, and both of them agreed they didn’t have feelings for one another. And the episode ended with Michael returning to his office, where his angry boss Shawn was waiting.

Can Michael really become a good guy, or is he up to something? Does Shawn know about Michael and the others? And if so, does this mean Michael is going to be permanently terminated, or is there some other twist that we don’t know about yet? What is our gang’s ultimate plan? Will Eleanor and Chidi admit they do have feelings for one another? Will Jason and Tahani end up together, or is there still a chance for Janet and Jason? (And how does that even work?!) This is one of the shows I really look forward to each week, and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out, and what kind of new cliffhanger they leave us with 4 weeks from now!

On tonight’s episode, “Leap to Faith,” Michael receives a surprise visitor. Meanwhile, Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason attempt to solve a riddle.

Find out if the group can solve the riddle tonight on NBC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Superstore, Will & Grace, Van Helsing, and Damnation.

I’ve been enjoying the return of Will & Grace. It’s getting better every episode. Last week, Grace went to the doctor and was put under anesthesia when they found a spot in her breast and needed to do a biopsy. They called her emergency contact…and because Karen doesn’t do her job, Grace’s emergency contact was still Leo, her ex-husband, not Will. So she was shocked when he turned up to take her home. That brought out a lot of old feelings, including resentment and blame about who was responsible for the destruction of their marriage. After Grace talked to Will, she and Leo had another talk (including a kiss!), and they left things on a better note.

Meanwhile, Jack was waiting to see if he’d gotten a commercial (he didn’t…) and took a temp job as a pianist for a boys’ & girls’ club. He was…well, Jack. But Karen showed up and ended up helping out a young girl who had no women in her life and she needed a woman’s advice because she’d…well, become a “woman,” to put it blandly. Karen was shockingly sweet about it while still being Karen. I loved it.

On tonight’s episode, “Grandpa Jack,” Jack is stunned to learn that his estranged son, Elliot (guest star Michael Angarano) has a son of his own, Skip (guest star Jet Jurgensmeyer). Moreover, Skip needs the kind of help only Will and Jack can provide. Grace and Karen behave badly with the hot new guy at work. Jane Lynch and Andrew Rannells also guest star.

Meet Jack’s grandson tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped, Great News, Beat Bobby Flay, & Chicago Fire.

Tonight one of my favorite new shows from last season, The Good Place, returns to kick off its second season. Kristen Bell stars as Eleanor Shellstrop, a selfish, self-centered young woman who quickly realized that, due to some kind of error, she was accidentally sent to “the good place” upon her death when she really deserved to go to “the bad place.” Determined to keep this fact a secret from Michael (Ted Danson), the being in charge, she enlisted her assigned soulmate, ethics professor Chidi (William Jackson Harper), to help teach her how to be “good.” However, Eleanor soon discovered that she was not alone and that some others had also accidentally slipped through the cracks — dim-witted Jason (Manny Jacinto) and narcissistic socialite Tahani (Jameela Jamil). The first season ended with an amazing surprise twist that sets up some major changes for the second season.

I thought the first season was sheer perfection. Kristen Bell was forking delightful, and the entire ensemble worked so well together. Each episode would end in some sort of big reveal that always made you anxious to watch the next. So I was a little worried going into tonight’s premiere — how would last season’s finale change this fun, lighthearted comedy? The second season picks up immediately following the events of the finale, and I can happily say the series doesn’t miss a beat. The characters are still the same ones we fell in love with in the first season, and some of the other side characters, such as Real Eleanor, take on a hilarious new role. I checked out screeners for the first four episodes and probably would have binged the entire season in one sitting if it had been available. This show once again had me laughing out loud over and over again — the writers are so witty and constantly come up with fun new twists and turns. I’m so happy this show is back! If you haven’t seen the first season, I highly recommend binging it first, before watching tonight’s season premiere!

On tonight’s one-hour second season premiere, “Everything Is Great!” Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason — who’ve had their memories erased by ambitious master architect Michael — again settle into the Good Place. Eleanor discovers the one clue she left for herself, however, and attempts to piece things together.

Check back in to the Good Place tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, MasterChef, Worst Cooks in America, Channel Zero, The Sinner, and Mr. Mercedes.
