If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/12/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

darkmattersmallI’m cautiously excited about tonight’s series premiere of Dark Matter because in some ways, it reminds me about Firefly, although it might be a little darker, a little heavier. (Next week’s premiere, Killjoys, also reminds me of Firefly, and it’s definitely lighter than this one.) Crew members of an abandoned spaceship are woken from stasis…but none of them remember who they are or how they got there. They have to work together to survive, overcoming threats, vengeance, betrayal, and hidden secrets. Based on the graphic novel Dark Matter (both it and the show were created by Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie), it stars Melissa O’Neil (Broadway’s Les Miserables), Marc Bendavid (Bitten), Anthony Lemke (White House Down), Alex Mallari Jr. (Robocop), Jodelle Ferland (Twilight), Roger Cross (The Strain), & Zoie Palmer (Lost Girl).

On tonight’s episode, “Episode 1,” the crew of a derelict spaceship awakens from stasis with no memories of who they are.

Check out the premiere tonight on Syfy at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Love, Lust or Run, & American Diner Revival.

defiance612smallTonight, Defiance returns to Syfy for its third season and picks up 7 months after the events of last year. At the end of last season, Alak and Christie were taken at gunpoint by Pilar, Christie’s not-so-stable mother. Datak rescued Rafe from being executed at Camp Reverie in order to get his help to find the children. And it was up to Irisa to save the world by stopping the ship from terraforming Earth. Kaziri tried to distract Mordecai and Irisa with hallucinations, but they managed to make it to the pilot’s chamber to perform the ritual that needed to be done. They had saved the day, but the ship started crumbling and collapsing, and Nolan and Irisa were trapped inside the rubble in some sort of egg-like pod.

Will Datak, Stahma, and Rafe find their kidnapped children? And what will they do to Pilar when/if they do? Did Nolan and Irisa survive, and if so, will that egg have changed them in some way? And what new threat(s) will the townsfolk of Defiance face this season? I’m looking forward to another crazy season of action and adventure!

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “The World We Seize; The Last Unicorns,” Nolan and Irisa are mysteriously rescued from their underground confinement just in time to discover that enemy forces are marching on the town of Defiance, which has fallen on hard times following the collapse of the gulanite mines. Meanwhile, Datak, Stahma and Rafe run into deadly complications on their quest to reunite their family; and Alak comes to realize just how unstable her mother-in-law is during their journey through the woods.

To see how Nolan and Irisa are rescued, tune in to Syfy at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording the Phineas and Ferb finale, the Dark Matter premiere, and Childrens Hospital.
