If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/8/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

playinghouse98smallTonight, the (too short) second season of Playing House comes to a close with a double-dose of episodes. Last week, Maggie and Emma headed to Lake Kimmewah to spend the weekend together at their childhood vacation spot. It was the annual Kimmewah Kup paddle boat race, and the girls planned to beat their old nemeses the Custerman twins (played by the Sklar brothers). However, Maggie got upset that Emma was distracted during their gals weekend, constantly texting and calling her boyfriend Rabbi Dan. And when Dan showed up at the cabin, things only got worse. But, as always, the girls talked it out — their friendship can overcome any hurdles!

All I can say is that I love this show. It always makes me laugh out loud, and the relationship between Maggie and Emma feels so natural and real. They make you wish you were part of their world. If you haven’t checked out this show, what are you waiting for?! You can really jump in with any episode and also catch up via On Demand. I really hope tonight’s episodes aren’t the last 2 episodes of the series…and that USA won’t make us wait until December again to find out if the show’s coming back!

On tonight’s first episode, “Officer of the Year,” Emma organizes a policeman’s ball with help from Maggie and Rabbi Dan; Mark doesn’t have a date. And then in “Celebrate Me Scones,” Maggie surprises Emma with tickets to a special concert; and an old friend returns.

Catch the last two episodes of the season tonight on USA Network at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Zoo, Hollywood Game Night, and Face Off.

Jenny’s Choice

hollywoodgamenight2015smallI absolutely adore watching Hollywood Game Night. It makes me laugh every time. I’m a big games person, so getting to see a handful of them at a time once a week has been a blast and made me very happy. I’d be hard-pressed to pick my favorite game. Probably one of the charades games — like one where the non-celeb has a set of headphones on and the celebs try to act out songs. And I really love that the bonus round at the end this season has had two celebs helping the non-celeb win the money. That’s great for a 2nd charity and can definitely help them give good clues. I’m sad that tonight is the season finale, but I have high hopes, given this season’s great ratings, that it’ll be back for another season.

On tonight’s episode, “Cedric Gives Niecy a Hand,” two contestants will lead a team of three celebrities, which include Pete Wentz, Niecy Nash, Ming-Na Wen, Kevin Nealon, Cedric the Entertainer, and Mel B, in hopes of winning the $25,000 grand prize.

See if someone can win the big money tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Cake Boss, Chopped, & Playing House.

Megan’s Choice

cakeboss2015smallI am very excited for the season premiere of Cake Boss tonight because I always find this family amusing and the cakes they make amazing. Buddy always has the most unique ways of creating a cake that someone else would be totally stumped by. When they make cakes that move, I am always flabbergasted and want to figure how to make my own moving cake, using his vanilla sponge recipe, which is a favorite of mine to bake around here.

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “All in the Famiglia,” Chef Buddy Valastro starts off the new season with comic Lisa Arch; featuring new episodes, fun with Buddy’s Famiglia and chances to win cakes for a year.

To see how this master kicks off this season, tune in to TLC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent, Chopped, and Hollywood Game Night.
