My first pick tonight is the season finale of Home Free. This show on FOX has been a lot of fun. It combines a design-competition show with a feel-good, heartwarming one. Nine couples started the show, thinking they were competing to be the last couple standing to earn their dream home. Each week, all the couples worked together – on teams and down to individual couples last week for the top three – on renovating an old or worn-down or just plain out-of-date home, and Mike Holmes decided which couple to send home. What the contestants didn’t learn until after the other teams had left the site was that the lucky family to get the home they’d just finished renovating was them. So all nine couples will win a house, not just the final, “winning” couple.

This was really fantastic to me, for a lot of reasons. One, each of the couples really needed a new home. Whether they’d hit on hard times, outgrown their old home, or (in the case of the sisters who “lost” last week and wanted a house for their parents so they could be closer to them now that their father has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s) for whatever reason, the new home was needed. But my favorite thing about the show was that they aren’t just giving homes to lucky couples. The couples WORKED for them. They put their blood, sweat, and tears into each of the houses, even down to the final two teams on tonight’s episode. I love it.

On tonight’s season finale, “Dream Holmes,” week after week, each couple followed Mike’s lead and pushed themselves to make the best home possible for a deserving family. Weeks of tools, dry wall, and construction all come down to this moment when the winner is revealed!

See who takes the win and check out the final two houses tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

theleague99smallTonight, The League returns to FXX to kick off its final season. When we last left off, it was Ruxin versus Andre in the Shiva Bowl. The rest of the gang really wanted Andre to win, because at least then they might actually get a chance to use the huge Laguna Beach house prize that Ted had bequeathed to the winner. Meanwhile, Ted’s ghost appeared to Kevin and said he would help him avoid winning the Sacko if he pulled off a huge prank. In the end, Andre took home the Shiva, and it was Taco who ended up with the Sacko. Andre set off some celebratory “Suck It” fireworks, but due to the aforementioned prank, the whole beach house suddenly went ablaze. While it seemed like there was a chance some of the gang might move to California for the final season, once Ruxin blew his job opportunity and Andre’s beach house was turned into ashes, that no longer seems very likely.

I am the farthest thing from a sports fan – the only football I see is when I turn on FOX and CBS to see just how delayed all of my Sunday shows are going to be. However, for some reason, I really enjoy this series. I find the relationships between these friends so much fun and love to watch all of the hijinks, smack talk, and craziness that ensues as they battle it out for the Shiva title each season. Not that the show has every really held anything back, but I can’t wait to see what they do in this final, go-for-broke season!

On tonight’s premiere, “That Other Draft,” Marshawn Lynch is in town for the Taco Corp Annual Board Meeting; Kevin has an encounter with Seahawks general manager John Schneider; Jenny has big-shot status at the Chicago draft; and Pete runs into Meegan.

Check out the beginning of the final season tonight on FXX at 10/9c.

longmire2015smallFor fans of Longmire, the news that it had been cancelled, especially with the huge cliffhanger ending of season 3, was upsetting. But thankfully, Netflix has picked it up for season 4, so we’ll get the answer about whether it was Branch or his father, Barlow Connally, who got shot, if either of them, and whether or not Barlow will get away with setting up Walt’s wife to be killed. Henry was let out of jail, David Ridges was killed, and Vic was served divorce papers. So season 3 was a big one!

Tonight (or rather early, early tomorrow morning), Netflix will release the entirety of season 4 on their site. They currently have all 3 previous seasons on there, although I don’t know if they’ll stay or not, so if you need to get caught up, you can. This is a great show and worth the watch, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, now’s the time!

Check out the complete 4th season on Netflix tonight at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, MasterChef, Steampunk’d, Cutthroat Kitchen, & Last Comic Standing.

youretheworst99smallTonight, the hilarious FX comedy You’re the Worst moves to FXX as it goes into its second season. When we last left off, it looked like things might be over for our favorite despicable couple. However, the separation made Jimmy realize how much he loved Gretchen, and the two reunited after Jimmy offered her the key to his apartment – which she happily took as hers had just burned down. It turned out that Jimmy came up with the speech on the spot and in fact had actually given her his ONLY key to his apartment. Meanwhile, Paul finally broke up with Lindsay and asked her for a divorce, stating that he’d been having an emotional affair with another woman who actually likes him. Becca’s happiness over her sister’s misfortune was short-lived when Jimmy pointed out her own horrible marriage and the fact that she had just tried to sleep with him.

While I wasn’t a fan of the pilot of this series, I was so glad that I stuck with it. Each episode of the first season was better than the one before, and the show developed into a hilarious show with fun characters that I couldn’t wait to watch each week. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Gretchen and Jimmy living under the same roof changes up their dynamic and what kinds of issues arise from this new situation – this does not seem like a couple that is really ready for this next step!

On tonight’s premiere, “The Sweater People,” Jimmy and Gretchen are living together but try to avoid domesticity by partying all the time, a lifestyle that’s harder than it looks. Meanwhile, Edgar is smitten with Lindsay, who attempts a desperate reconciliation with Paul.

To see how Jimmy and Gretchen are handling their new situation, tune in to FXX at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, MasterChef, Young & Hungry, Kevin From Work, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Impastor, and Twinning.
