Kyle’s Choice

theleague129smallAfter 7 hilarious seasons, the FX/FXX comedy The League finally comes to an end tonight. Last week, the guys were getting sick of giving automatic wins to Ruxin and suspected he might be milking the situation of his wife’s passing. So Taco finally confronted him, and Ruxin agreed to stop taking the free passes. Meanwhile, Raffi – in his unique and twisted way – tried to help Ruxin with the grieving process by offering to take his sister’s place in the bedroom.

Later, Raffi managed to get the league banned from the website after posting a video of himself and Dirty Randy having sex with some birds (and not the British use of the word) to the chat board. This meant Kevin was forced to run the league by hand – which led to a lot of issues, especially since he let baby Chalupa Batman help with the math. Due to the league stats mess, everyone will now be in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Andre tried to get an exclusive restaurant to let him use a dinner reservation Ruxin had set up for Sofia and himself. The episode ended with one final bombshell, that Pete’s ex-wife Meegan is pregnant.

After seven seasons, how will this show come to an end? It’s anyone’s game this time around – so who will be the final Shiva winner and who will take home the Sacko? Is Andre the father of Meegan’s baby? And if so, how will Pete and the others react?

On tonight’s finale, “The Great Night of Shiva,” the fates of the Shiva, Sacko, and Snip are decided. Also: Ruxin makes a big decision that impacts his chances of winning and the league’s survival.

To see how the series ends, tune in to FXX at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, black-ish, Arrow, Supernatural, American Horror Story: Hotel, You’re the Worst, and Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/9/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice #1

My first pick tonight is the season finale of Home Free. This show on FOX has been a lot of fun. It combines a design-competition show with a feel-good, heartwarming one. Nine couples started the show, thinking they were competing to be the last couple standing to earn their dream home. Each week, all the couples worked together – on teams and down to individual couples last week for the top three – on renovating an old or worn-down or just plain out-of-date home, and Mike Holmes decided which couple to send home. What the contestants didn’t learn until after the other teams had left the site was that the lucky family to get the home they’d just finished renovating was them. So all nine couples will win a house, not just the final, “winning” couple.

This was really fantastic to me, for a lot of reasons. One, each of the couples really needed a new home. Whether they’d hit on hard times, outgrown their old home, or (in the case of the sisters who “lost” last week and wanted a house for their parents so they could be closer to them now that their father has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s) for whatever reason, the new home was needed. But my favorite thing about the show was that they aren’t just giving homes to lucky couples. The couples WORKED for them. They put their blood, sweat, and tears into each of the houses, even down to the final two teams on tonight’s episode. I love it.

On tonight’s season finale, “Dream Holmes,” week after week, each couple followed Mike’s lead and pushed themselves to make the best home possible for a deserving family. Weeks of tools, dry wall, and construction all come down to this moment when the winner is revealed!

See who takes the win and check out the final two houses tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/3/14

What a week it’s been, and it’s only Wednesday! I shudder to think what the rest of the week will be like, seeing as this was supposed to be the easy days. Note to self: there are no easy days when it involves prying children from their beds for school, but it’s worth it because they’re learning. (Yeah, I almost believed it myself.) Now, let’s take a look at what we’re recommending tonight to distract me from my morning duties of getting kids off to be educated.

sytycd2014smallIt’s that time again on So You Think You Can Dance. Time to crown the winner, that is. What a season it’s been, with two amazing tap dancers making it to the finals, along with two more incredible contemporary dancers. How will America choose? The way I would, I hope. I would love to see either Ricky or Valerie win because they have been two of my favorites from the beginning. Their routines last week were all stellar, and it definitely made the race even closer. What about you? Who are you rooting for?

On tonight’s season 11 finale, guest judges Jenna Dewan Tatum, Debbie Allen, Tara Lipinski, and Adam Shankman return to help crown the winner. Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul are scheduled to perform during the two-hour live event.

To see if your vote helped your favorite take home the title, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent, Fool’s Gold, Wahlburgers, and Restaurant: Impossible.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/20/13

We’re a week and a day away from Thanksgiving, and I’m so excited. I love cooking that big meal with my husband and son. Until then, I’ll contend myself with gathering the recipes and making the shopping list…and of course, the great TV. Check out our recommendations so you can join me in relaxing tonight in front of the television.

topchef1120smallLast week’s Top Chef was all about the pot luck. Kermit Ruffins hosted a jazzy pot luck for his musician friends, and the cheftestants had to bring the food. In the end, Patty went home, and I was okay with that. There are a couple of them that I wouldn’t be sad to see them go, but there are some that I like, so I’m definitely interested to see more. To me, having it set in New Orleans has been kind of…boring. Not nearly as exciting as you’d think having it set in the Big Easy would’ve had more…I dunno. I don’t really know what I think. I just know I’m not getting what I thought I’d be getting. 😀 LOL (I did love the episode where they ran the food trucks for the people who are rebuilding houses still after Katrina.

On tonight’s episode, “Piggin’ Out,” after a Quickfire Challenge where the cheftestants are tasked with making their own hot sauce for legendary musician Dr. John, the focus turns to the pig, the whole pig and nothing but the pig, as the chefs butcher and cook up a 300-pound hog.

Check out the big pig tonight on Bravo at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, & CSI.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/4/13

I’ve been complaining for the last few days that there wasn’t very much on TV, but we all know that in a couple more weeks, I’ll be saying that I don’t have time for everything that’s on. 🙂 I suppose we should enjoy this lull before we jump into the swing of the new television season, so let’s see what’s on tonight.

Megan’s Choice

masterchef2012smallWe are down to the final four on MasterChef, and despite Kyle’s hate for her, Krissi is still in it! I get it. She has a horrible attitude, but I think she really is one of the most improved chefs overall. When she gets out of her own way, she is a great cook! Then again, so is Natasha, and I don’t like her very much, but would rather see her win instead of Luca. In the end, I’m not sure who are going to be the final two cooks, but whoever it is, there will be a good competition.

On tonight’s episode, “Top 4 Compete; Top 3 Compete,” the cooks split into two teams for the mystery box challenge; the remaining three contestants cook more sophisticated versions of the dishes they made in their initial auditions.

To see who makes it through to the Top 2, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Duck Dynasty and Top Chef Masters.
