If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/18/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

bobsburgers1018smallTonight’s annual Halloween-themed episode of Bob’s Burgers airs at a special later time, and this one may be my favorite one of these episodes yet! The Belchers are such an entertaining TV family – while what they say is often ridiculous, they still feel like very real characters, and this is very much due to the amazing chemistry between the voice actors. And the writing is so witty and hilarious that I always have a smile throughout each episode. While I love all of the characters, Gene is definitely my favorite, and he is on fire in tonight’s episode. Well, not literally – though I wouldn’t put it past these writers – but he does have so many great one-liners! And to top it all off, at the end of tonight’s episode Boyz 4 Now makes a return appearance for a delightfully cheesy music video.

Bob’s Burgers is always a highlight of my Sunday night TV viewing, but after tonight, the show will be off the air for a few weeks, when it returns with a Thanksgiving episode (already?!). While the series is currently only in its fifth season, it has already been picked up through its eighth season! So I look forward to plenty more fun Belcher family adventures to come…and to seeing how they top tonight’s hilarious Halloween episode next year!

On tonight’s episode, “Hauntening,” as the Belchers ready for Halloween, Louise reveals that she’s never been scared by anything, so the family pays a visit to a spooky haunted house, where things start going bump in the night.

See if the haunted house scares Louise tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Quantico, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, The Walking Dead, Talking Dead, The Leftovers, Project Greenlight, Homeland, and Robot Chicken.

brooklyn991018smallLast week’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine was so freakin’ funny. Charles met his perfect woman – good palate and love of strange foods, sleeps on the floor because she has a lot of dogs…and got sentenced to ten years in prison. Oh… So maybe she wasn’t perfect. No, she really kind of was perfect for him, and he had a hunch (ergo, the name of the episode!) that she’d been set up and hadn’t stolen her own artwork. He and Jake went to the prison to talk to her and learned that her ex-boyfriend might have motive. In the end, they figured out that the ex’s assistant was in love with him – even though he was still in love with the ex – and set her up so he would be really free to be with her. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear more about it, so did Charles reunite with her? Will we see her again?!

The other story lines were just as funny. Holt wanted to promote a more positive image for the police, so he put up posters of Amy as the first good police officer…but that was quickly squelched (much to Gina’s “I told you so” delight) when vandals drew graffiti all over them. He chose to revamp it with posters that said something to the effect of they knew they could make some improvements, so to let them know. Then he gave his personal email address. REALLY?! LOL But okay… And finally, Rosa and Terry worked together to try to prove that Hitchcock and Scully had eaten her ice cream. They denied, denied, denied, even claiming they couldn’t have because they were lactose intolerant…but just when Rosa and Terry brought them pizza to apologize (really, to test their claims), the guys admitted they’d eaten it but didn’t apologize.

On tonight’s episode, “The Oolong Slayer,” when investigating a serial killer, Jake enlists Holt’s help in an attempt to solve the case off the radar. At the precinct, Rosa and Amy are forced to deal with demands from an old adversary and Terry discovers a new obsession.

Find out what the demands are and how the squad deals with everything going on this week on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Halloween Wars, Cutthroat Kitchen, & CSI: Cyber.

Megan’s Choice

guysgrocerygames2015smallI watch a lot of different kinds of shows, but some of my favorite will always be cooking competitions, because I don’t have to be caught up on previous episodes to know what’s going on, and they’re great for just relaxing. Guy’s Grocery Games is always a fun one to watch, not only because of the awesome host that Guy is but also because the judges are amusing while they watch the cooking and because the games are twisted. I love the game that’s like Plinko, only for terrible food you have to include in your dish, because sometimes those ingredients are just plain disgusting, so it’s cool to see what the chefs can do with it.

On tonight’s episode, “DDD Returns to GGG,” Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives buddies roll up to Guy’s turf for a challenge of a lifetime. The chefs must first knock down crazy food pins to pick the ingredients to put between two buns! Next, they must make tacos after all the traditional taco ingredients are thrown out of the window in Un-Gredients. The final two chefs will go to their roots when Guy asks them to make a finer diner dinner using an item from both the high end and low-end food wheels.

To see if these Triple D chefs can hack it on Triple G, tune in to Food Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Once Upon a Time, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Quantico, Bar Rescue, Cutthroat Kitchen, CSI: Cyber, Blood & Oil, and Halloween Wars.
