If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/18/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

bobsburgers1018smallTonight’s annual Halloween-themed episode of Bob’s Burgers airs at a special later time, and this one may be my favorite one of these episodes yet! The Belchers are such an entertaining TV family – while what they say is often ridiculous, they still feel like very real characters, and this is very much due to the amazing chemistry between the voice actors. And the writing is so witty and hilarious that I always have a smile throughout each episode. While I love all of the characters, Gene is definitely my favorite, and he is on fire in tonight’s episode. Well, not literally – though I wouldn’t put it past these writers – but he does have so many great one-liners! And to top it all off, at the end of tonight’s episode Boyz 4 Now makes a return appearance for a delightfully cheesy music video.

Bob’s Burgers is always a highlight of my Sunday night TV viewing, but after tonight, the show will be off the air for a few weeks, when it returns with a Thanksgiving episode (already?!). While the series is currently only in its fifth season, it has already been picked up through its eighth season! So I look forward to plenty more fun Belcher family adventures to come…and to seeing how they top tonight’s hilarious Halloween episode next year!

On tonight’s episode, “Hauntening,” as the Belchers ready for Halloween, Louise reveals that she’s never been scared by anything, so the family pays a visit to a spooky haunted house, where things start going bump in the night.

See if the haunted house scares Louise tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Quantico, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, The Walking Dead, Talking Dead, The Leftovers, Project Greenlight, Homeland, and Robot Chicken.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/16/14

Holy crap… Christmas is less than 6 weeks away! (Don’t shoot the messenger!) I cannot believe how fast time is flying by, and now all the fall finales start, as well as a bunch of Christmas specials, which I am always excited for. Speaking of Christmas specials, let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

angelsandornamentssmallYou can always count on Hallmark Channel to bring us some holiday cheer, and tonight they’re bringing it with a movie, Angels and Ornaments. I’m aware some of you may be avoiding these movies because it’s only November, but this TV addict is embracing the joy. One of the reasons that this movie caught my eye was because it stars Jessalyn Gilsig from Glee and one of my favorite actors from Flashpoint, Sergio Di Zio, who played Spike.

The movie follows Gilsig’s character, Corrine, as she prepares for her favorite holiday, auditioning for the Christmas concert at church and playing carols for shoppers at the music store where she works with her childhood friend Dave (Graham Abbey, Covert Affairs). Her holiday season gets a strange twist of romantic fate when a new co-worker, Harold (Di Zio), tries to form a love connection between Corrine and Dave. With Harold’s help, Corrine starts to see her friend in a different light, but she’s curious about Harold’s interest in her life. What Corrine doesn’t know is that Harold is on a Christmas Eve deadline from a higher power to make this holiday fairytale come true.

It’s a feel-good, romantic movie that is bound to help you get into the holiday spirit, so join me in feeling the joy when you tune in to Hallmark Channel at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/12/14

As I write this up, I’m watching the latest episode of Z Nation. I gotta say, this show amuses me to no end. It truly cracks me up. DJ Qualls is hysterical, and 10K rocks. But enough about me… 😉 Read on to see what we’re recommending tonight.

csi1012smallOn last week’s CSI, a robbery turned homicide at a medical marijuana shop ended up being a kidnapping…but then it turned out the wife of the shop’s owner set it all up—including her own “kidnapping” and that of their kids’—in order to get the money. It was pretty sad, actually. But I love this show. I’m interested to see how long they’re going to drag out the Gig Harbor Killer story line. Now that Julie’s in Seattle looking into the background of the brothers, I’m sure it’ll be put on the back burner for the most part.

On tonight’s episode, “Bad Blood,” Sara and Greg are quarantined after responding to a crime scene that’s contaminated with a deadly pathogen. James Lesure (Men at Work, Mr. Sunshine, Las Vegas) & Lauren Stamile (Burn Notice, Grey’s Anatomy) guest star.

Check out this timely story line tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Halloween Wars, Catch a Contractor, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/1/14

I hope you had a good break last week, because there’s a lot more on this week. Not as busy as it will be, but still a lot on. As I write this up, I’m watching Chow Masters and waiting for my husband to get home with drinks from Sonic. It’s been a good weekend so far. 🙂 Kyle’s power was out for 5 hours tonight (Saturday night), so he’s skipping the Remote. Megan & I are here to give you our recommendations, though, so check ’em out. 🙂

foodnetworkstar2013smallMy first pick tonight is the season premiere of Food Network Star. It’s no secret that I love cooking competition shows, and this is one of the great ones. Twelve contestants join mentors Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis, and Bobby Flay to compete in challenges designed to whittle the list down to the top spot, which will earn them their own show on Food Network. I love this show because there’s usually a wide variety of talent and personalities, and sometimes, those personalities clash, making it quite exciting. *laugh*

On tonight’s episode, “Hollywood Calling,” the mentors help prepare the finalists for their big debut at a Hollywood Premier Party, where each contestant must prepare and present one party appetizer to Food Network executives Bob Tuschman and Susie Fogelson, as well as Hollywood insiders, including E!’s Ross Mathews, who help decide which contestants have a shot at becoming a Food Network Star. One finalist’s dream ends here, and the remaining 11 continue their Star journey.

Meet the twelve contestants and pick your favorite tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/25/14

Wow… Looking ahead to the schedule this week, it’s pretty darn empty compared to the last little while! I think we can all use a break from the heavy amount of shows. In fact, I think Kyle was going to pull his hair out when we realized how many screeners for some of the summer shows as well as the first go-round of pilots started showing up! Fortunately, even though it’s a fairly light week, there’s still some good stuff on, so check out what we’re recommending tonight. 🙂

americandreambuilderssmallI’ve really loved American Dream Builders this season. It’s not a completely new concept, but there’s enough different and enough interesting personalities to make it a lot of fun to watch. I was so glad last week when Elaine was sent home. Sure, she’s been a bit better in recent weeks than she was for the first half (at least) of the series, but she was still overconfident, pompous, and rather witchy. And while I didn’t hate the red room as much as the others, I did see that it didn’t match the rest of the house at all. Find another way to work in the bold pop of color, but do it in a way that fits in with the house and the rest of the rooms, ya know? But what do I know? I’m certainly no designer. Anyway, I’m thrilled to pieces that it’s Lukas and Jay in the final two. Jay is really beginning to grow as a designer, instead of being a builder who does some design on the side, and Lukas has a great way of taking his minimalist POV and making it fit with the design and flow of the house. It should be an excellent finale, and honestly, I’ll be happy with whoever wins.

On tonight’s episode, “Beach Home,” after nine weeks and 19 renovations, the final two designers meet their final challenge. In their biggest renovation to date, they must transform two dream beach homes in Ventura, Calif. Luckily, they won’t have to go at it alone. They are reunited with a few surprise guests to help them. One designer will win the grand prize of $250,000 and be crowned as the first American Dream Builder.

See how the final renovations go and who comes out the winner tonight on the 2-hour finale on NBC at 7/6c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Iron Chef America, Cutthroat Kitchen, Salem, & Kitchen Casino.
