Tonight, The 100 finally returns for its fifth season on The CW. When we last left off, everyone was trying to escape the deadly radiation that was rapidly approaching. The lucky 1200 people who had been selected for the bunker were locked away, with Octavia inside and in charge. The remaining folks only had 90 minutes to escape and were desperately trying enact their plan to head back up to the Ark ring. However, in their haste to get things done quickly, the communications system went down, which meant that someone was going to have to activate the power on the Ark ring manually. Clarke volunteered, but when she got to the satellite station, the situation was worse than expected. She knew she wouldn’t get back to the ship in time and told the others to launch without her. They reluctantly did this but still weren’t out of the woods. They were rapidly running out of air and needed to dock the ship and get the oxygen scrubber connected to the Ark ring ASAP, which Bellamy managed to do in the nick of time. Meanwhile, Clarke was left on Earth, unprotected from the radiation but with the glimmer of hope that she would be immune.

The finale then cut to 6 years and 7 days later. Clarke is alive and well, living on a small, green plot of land along with a little girl named Madi. Every day Clarke tries to contact Bellamy and the others on the radio but has never made contact with either those on the Ark or those in the bunker. When she hears a loud noise overhead, she assumes it’s the others finally returning. However, she’s shocked and dismayed to discover a giant prison transport ship, with the name Eligius Corporation stamped on the side, landing nearby.

Who is this little girl Clarke is living with, and how did they survive the past 6 years? What is the Eligius Corporation, where did this ship come from, why are they here, and will those aboard pose a threat to Clarke? And when are the folks on the Ark ring and/or in the bunker going to make their way back to land? There are so many questions and so many opportunities for interesting stories. I look forward to seeing what the fifth season brings!

On tonight’s season premiere, “Eden,” Clarke struggles to survive on a desolate, scorched earth. Meanwhile, her friends in space come across a long-awaited beacon of hope.

Catch up with everyone tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, black-ish, For the People, Rise, LA to Vegas, New Girl, The Flash, Legion, and The Last O.G.

It’s been over 15 months since the first season of HBO’s Westworld came to a close, but the show finally returns tonight! The series is set in a high-tech theme park called Westworld, where realistic-looking robots, called hosts, allow guests to live out their deepest and darkest fantasies. As the first season came to a close, several of these hosts woke up and started having their own thoughts. They went against their programming and started hurting the guests. Park programmer Bernard also discovered that he was not actually human, but rather a host, and that park creator Dr. Robert Ford had used him to kill people and then wiped his memory. There was a bit of a power struggle happening behind the scenes at the park. Corporate wanted to get rid of Ford, and Delos executive director Charlotte was secretly working with disgraced Narrative Director Lee Sizemore, who was helping her reprogram one of the retired hosts so that she could smuggle information out of the park.

Maeve was the madam at the Mariposa Saloon when she woke up. She then convinced one of the park technicians to alter her programming — increasing her intelligence level to the highest setting — and to remove the explosive that kept her confined to the park. However, just as Maeve was about to leave Westworld, she had second thoughts and decided to go back to find the daughter she remembered from one of her past narratives. At the same time, Ford was having a gala to launch his final narrative before retiring. Thirty years earlier, Dolores, one of the first hosts, had accidentally killed one of her creators. Upon waking up, she experienced this all over again, shooting Ford in the head as he was giving his speech. The guests started to panic as the other hosts also started attacking them. Long-time park guest William (aka the Man in Black) was actually thrilled by this turn of events. For years he had grown tired of the safety of the park and had been striving for the next level of this game, where the stakes and danger were real.

I have been looking forward to the second season for a long time. How will things change now that Ford is presumably dead and the hosts are running amok? Will there still be guests at the park, or are the hosts completely running things now? We got a glimpse of Samurai World during Maeve’s escape — how will that play into things this season, and are the hosts there also becoming self-aware? Did the Man in Black survive the onslaught of hosts, and if so, what is his current plan? What information is Charlotte trying to steal, and what does she plan to do with it? How will the Delios folks respond to the news of what’s happening in Westworld? And are there others like Bernard who don’t yet know they are hosts? This evening I will be attending a special premiere event being held in Boston, where they will air the season premiere (only a couple hours earlier than it airs on HBO) and have a Q&A with some of the cast, followed by a Sweetwater & Mariposa-themed after-party. It should be a fun time, and I’m really glad to have this show back!

HBO sent the following description for tonight’s premiere, “Journey into Night”: The puppet show is over, and we are coming for you and the rest of your kind. Welcome back to Westworld.

Don’t miss the exciting 75-minute season premiere tonight on HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Deception, Timeless, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, Fear the Walking Dead, Killing Eve, Worst Cooks in America, Trust, Silicon Valley, and Barry.

Tonight, Supergirl returns to the CW. In the last episode, Supergirl and the DEO captured a second Worldkiller, Purity. As Alex and Kara interrogated her, hoping to get some info on how to defeat Reign, Purity used her sonic scream to escape from her cell and get away. Meanwhile, J’onn, Winn, and Mon-El teamed up to fix the Legion ship. During one of their conversations, Mon-El revealed that he only married Imra in order to unite Titan and Earth, not out of love.

Later, Purity and Reign teamed up to attack the subway, but our heroes managed to fend them off. As the Worldkillers were leaving, they promised that Pestilence would soon join their team and that then they would be unstoppable. After things settled down, Mon-El told Imra the truth about their marriage and that he may still have feelings for Kara. Imra responded with the news that she, too, was hiding something — the true purpose of their mission (though we never get to hear what this is). As the episode ended, Sam’s eyes once again flashed red, this time in front of Lena, who announced afterwards that she knew what was wrong with Sam.

Will the group be able to stop Worldkillers before it’s too late? What does Lena think she knows about Sam and the reasons for her blackouts? What is Mon-El and Imra’s true mission on Earth? Will Mon-El confess to Kara that he still has feelings for her? And what other dangers await our heroes in this final stretch of the season?

On tonight’s episode, “Schott Through the Heart,” when Winn’s father dies, his estranged mother tries to reconnect and explain why she abandoned him; a copycat Toyman attacks, and the two must work together to stop him; Mon-El tells Kara something important about the Worldkillers.

See how Kara reacts to Mon-El’s information tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Crossing, Good Girls, The Resident, iZombie, The Terror, UnREAL, and Final Space.

Tonight, AMC is airing a special The Walking Dead eighth season finale/Fear the Walking Dead fourth season premiere crossover event. Last week on The Walking Dead, Negan returned to the Saviors, who were surprised to see that he was still alive. Negan quickly dispatched Simon for his betrayal, chaining his walker body to the fence of the Saviors’ compound. During the chaos of Negan and Simon’s brawl, Dwight helped Gregory escape, sending him back to the Hilltop to warn Rick and the gang about Negan’s plan of attack. However, Negan later revealed to Dwight that he knew of his betrayal and purposely told him a fake plan so that he would in turn feed it back to Rick. Despite Dwight’s actions, Negan announced he wasn’t going to kill him just yet. Meanwhile, Daryl and Rosita kidnapped Eugene in order to take him back to the Hilltop. However, Eugene didn’t want to leave, so he forced himself to vomit all over Rosita as a distraction and ran away. Finally, Michonne called Negan over the radio in order to read the note Carl had left for him. In the letter, Carl pleaded with Negan, asking him to call off the war, but the words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Negan was still planning to go forward with his plan to completely eliminate Rick and the gang.

Will this battle with the Saviors finally come to an end tonight, or will the writers drag this on for yet another season? Has Eugene really changed sides, or does he have some sort of plan he’s hatching to sabotage the Saviors’ ammo? Will Rick and the gang fall into Negan’s trap, or will they figure out his real plan in time? Will any major characters not survive tonight’s episode? I really hope we see the end of Negan in tonight’s finale so that the show can move on to some other storyline next year!

Following tonight’s finale, Morgan will make his way from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead. I’m really curious to see how this is going to work, as Fear takes place before The Walking Dead and in another part of the country. Will Fear do a time jump? Or will we see a pre-The Walking Dead Morgan? Will the helicopter we’ve seen a few times this season on TWD play a role in transporting Morgan to the other series?

On tonight’s The Walking Dead season finale, “Wrath,” the communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors. The season’s story lines culminate in all-out war.

And in tonight’s Fear the Walking Dead season premiere, “What’s Your Story?” a lone traveler’s wearying journey is interrupted by new acquaintances, some who become friends, others who becomes foes.

Catch all the action tonight on AMC starting at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Timeless, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, Killing Eve, Worst Cooks in America, Trust, Silicon Valley, and Barry.

Danger Will Robinson! Early this morning, Netflix released the first season of a new reboot of the sci-fi series Lost in Space, which updates and modifies some things from the classic 1965 series. The Robinson family — Marine John Robinson (Toby Stephens, Black Sails), his wife aerospace engineer Maureen (Molly Parker, House of Cards, Deadwood), and their three children, Judy (Taylor Russell, Falling Skies), Penny (Mina Sundwall, Freeheld), and Will (Maxwell Jenkins, Sense8) — is part of the 24th colonist group, which has left Earth in search of a better life on a new planet. They are aboard the Resolute space station, when they are forced to evacuate. Their Jupiter 2 escape ship crash lands on a mysterious planet. Everyone in the family has gone through rigorous training for this mission, and each brings some sort of skill to the table, but are they really prepared for what lies ahead?

Immediately upon their arrival, the Robinsons face one danger after the next, until Will befriends a strange robot with special abilities. Meanwhile, another Jupiter ship also crash lands on the planet. This one containing a roughneck/smuggler named Don West (Ignacio Serricchino, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Bones), and a mysterious woman secretly assuming the stolen identity of Dr. Smith (Parker Posey, Search Party). It is only a matter of time until this ragtag group will eventually come together and must work together in order to survive their new environment. But who can really be trusted? Everyone seems to have secrets they are hiding from one another, including the robot!

As the series opens, viewers are immediately thrust into the thick of the action as the Robinsons struggle to survive their harsh new environment. Through flashbacks, the series slowly reveals the characters’ backstories and pieces together the events that ultimately led up to the Robinsons’ crash onto this unknown planet. Where are they? How did they end up here? Who is “Dr. Smith”? Where did the robot come from? And what happened on the Resolute that caused the crash? The first two episodes of the series have some really tense moments and unexpected twists. I look forward to seeing what other turns of events, mysteries, and adventures await in the rest of the 10-episode first season!
