On last week’s Criminal Minds, bodies (well, torsos…) were being found without the heads, legs, and arms. It was a creepy case of an abusive husband turning into a serial killer, but the team did catch up to him – just in time, too, before he could kill his husband. And poor Reid… He has his mom at home with him, trying to take care of her, but it’s a big job. He finally found someone who could handle helping him while he was out of town for work, but he’s keeping her in the dark with the mysterious drugs he’s giving his mom. He finally admitted at the end of the episode last week that trying to take care of her at home may be too much for him to handle. So what are the drugs he didn’t tell the caregiver about? And is he really going to move his mom to a home? And given the description for tonight’s episode, what in the world happened between last week and this?! I’ve read several places that this episode changes Reid’s life in a drastic way. I don’t think the actor is going anywhere, unless it’s the biggest secret the show’s ever kept. So…

On tonight’s episode, “Spencer,” when a BAU member gets in trouble in Mexico, the team enlists the services of the International Response Team for their help. Alana De La Garza & Daniel Henney from Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders guest star.

Find out why Reid is in Mexico tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Blindspot, The Goldbergs, Hunted, Lethal Weapon, Cooks vs Cons, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, black-ish, Bakers vs Fakers, Chicago PD, Match Game, & Six.

The Mick has turned out to be one of my favorite new comedies this season. Last week, Chip got caught with a lewd photo on his phone and had to go in front of the school’s honor-board. Sabrina was overseeing the trial and wasn’t going to let her brother get off easy. Chuck refused to give the names of the students who sent the photo…until he realized that the photo he had pleasured himself to was of his sister. After puking several times, he immediately gave up the names. Meanwhile, Mickey had a scared-straight speech with Ben about what happens to “rats,” so when he witnessed a man keying the family’s expensive car, he refused to tell Alba what he knew.

This show is so hilarious. Every week I find myself laughing out loud. The writing also seems to be getting better each week, as the writers find new and clever ways to intersect the various story lines and pair up the characters. I can’t wait to see what crazy, messed-up antics the family gets up to tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “The Mess,” Mickey dumps the “cool aunt” persona and decides to lay down the law when the kids ignore her attempts at disciplining them.

See how Mickey stands up to the kids tonight on FOX at 8:31/7:31c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, The Real O’Neals, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Wall, Bones, Imposters, Detroiters, Switched at Birth, Face Off, and Teachers.

Tonight, AMC’s sci-fi drama, Humans, returns for a second season. The series is set in the near future, where human-like robots known as synths have become a regular part of society, almost like a standard household appliance. In the first season, some of these synths had become sentient and now had the ability to think and feel like humans. Leo Elster, the son of the original creator of the synths – and part synth himself – had been tracking down these conscious synths to protect them from those eager to tear them apart to discover what makes them tick. The Hawkins family, who had purchased one of these synths to help out with housework, found themselves swept up in the middle of the action and drama. By the end of the season, Leo’s group of sentient synths interfaced with one another in order to share their individual pieces of the sentient code. Leo saved the completed code to a hard drive and considered publishing it so that all synths round the world would have the choice to become conscious, but he ultimately decided to hold off. However, synth Niska secretly made her own backup of the code before heading off to some unknown destination to live on her own.

What does Niska plan to do with this code? Will she unleash it to awaken every synth around the globe? Will Leo ever find a safe haven for Mia and the others? And who is still hunting them down to discover this “flaw” in the code? Will Laura ever forgive her husband Joe for sleeping with their synth, Mia, and how will the Hawkins family fit into the larger story of the second season?

This series was in my top ten for 2015, and I’m really happy to finally see it back for a second season! Not only does it provide an interesting story, some tense moments, and some great drama, but there is also this very interesting layer to the show that explores what actually makes someone human. The acting is superb – the people playing the synths are amazing at making these characters look so lifeless and robotic as needed!

On tonight’s premiere, “Episode 1,” Niska faces a critical decision, while Mia, Leo, and Max remain in hiding. Meanwhile, the Hawkins struggle to move on; and Dr. Athena Morrow gets a surprise visitor.

See the season premiere tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, The Celebrity Apprentice, Timeless, 24: Legacy, APB, Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, and Beyond.

I didn’t get into Impractical Jokers until the last season or so. I thought it was a normal hidden camera show, which I find funny but get tired of really quickly. But my son really liked it and was watching it one day in the living room, and I saw it and laughed harder than I’d laughed in a while. These four friends (Sal, Joe, Murr, & Q) are an absolute riot to watch. This is must-see TV in our house, and if you give it a chance, it just might be in yours as well. Tonight’s a good night to check it out because it’s the season premiere. And don’t miss the “Inside Jokes” episode after, where you get to see behind-the-scenes shots and information during a previously aired episode. Those are always hysterical!

On tonight’s episode, “Swim Shady,” the guys are hit with some bad reception while working behind a desk; the guys head to the park where they ask strangers for advice on their questionable life choice; tonight’s big loser is tasked with taking photos of a water aerobics class.

Find out who loses big tonight on TruTV at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, MasterChef: Junior, Powerless, The Great Indoors, Chicago Med, Top Chef, My Kitchen Rules, & Beat Bobby Flay.

Tonight, FX enters the world of Marvel Television with its new series, Legion, based on characters from the New Mutants comic. David Haller (Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey) has been confined to the Clockwork Psychiatric Hospital for the past 6 years, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He has been seeing and hearing things ever since he was a young boy and believes he may even have telekinetic abilities. He finds it difficult to tell the difference between what is real and what is not. When he’s not trying to convince those in charge that he’s ready to be released, David spends his days in the common room with best friend and fellow patient Lenny (Aubrey Plaza, Parks and Recreation). That is, until he meets kindred spirit Syd Barrett (Rachel Keller, Fargo), a new patient with whom it’s love at first sight. Through flashbacks and interviews, we not only learn more about how David got to this point, but the series also sets up a much larger, more interesting mystery about what’s really going on in the present.

The series comes from writer/director Noah Hawley (Fargo) and has a very unique, stylized look and feel that reminded me of 60s spy film meets The Prisoner. Add to that a soundtrack that goes anywhere from unsettling string music to 60s rock music, and you’ve got a very interesting viewing experience. The premiere really builds the mystery and tension throughout, while also adding in a bit of humor here and there. I found myself constantly trying to put together the pieces, and just when I thought I had things figured out, there would be some new twist. But by the end of tonight’s premiere, I was completely sold on the series and can’t wait to see what happens next. It felt like I was watching the formation of a new X-Men team.

Dan Stevens is fantastic in this role – I didn’t even recognize him and was shocked at the end to see his name pop up in the credits. The rest of the cast also includes Jean Smart (Fargo), Mackenzie Gray (LoliRock), Katie Aselton (The League), Jeremie Harris, and Amber Midthunder.

On tonight’s extended-length premiere, “Chapter 1,” a troubled young man battling mental illness wonders if the visions he experiences are real following a strange encounter with a fellow patient.

See if David connects with reality tonight on FX at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Speechless, Modern Family, black-ish, Match Game, Hunted, Criminal Minds, Arrow, The 100, Spy in the Wild: A Nature Miniseries, Workaholics, Jeff & Some Aliens, Man Seeking Woman, The Magicians, The Expanse, and Suits.
