From 2002-2007, the Disney Channel animated action comedy-adventure series Kim Possible followed the adventures of teenage crime fighter Kim Possible, who balanced saving the world with dealing with the normal problems of a high school student. Helping her on her missions was clumsy best friend Ron Stoppable and his pet naked mole rat Rufus. Providing them with remote technical assistance was 10-year old computer genius Wade. While Team Possible came up against many different criminals, their biggest foe was super-villain Dr. Drakken and his sidekick Shego (who was often the more grounded and sensible of the pair).

Tonight, these characters return in a brand new live-action Disney Channel Original Movie, Kim Possible. In the film, Kim (Sadie Stanley) and Ron (Sean Giambrone, The Goldbergs) enter high school and become friends with Athena (Ciara Riley Wilson, OMG!). With Kim’s guidance, Athena transforms into the newest member of Team Possible and soon starts to eclipse Kim. When Drakken (Todd Stashwick, 12 Monkeys) and Shego (Taylor Ortega) resurface in Middleton, the team must stop them. The movie also stars Issac Ryan Brown (Raven’s Home) as Wade, Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) as Kim’s mother Dr. Ann Possible, Patton Oswalt (A.P. Bio) as Professor Dementor, and Christy Carlson Romano (the original voice of Kim) as Poppy Blu.

I was a huge fan of the original animated series and can’t wait to check out tonight’s film to see how these characters translate into the real world.

Go back to your childhood (or in Jenny’s case, her son’s childhood…she sighed sadly…) tonight on Disney Channel at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Doom Patrol, The Umbrella Academy, Fresh Off the Boat, Proven Innocent, and Strike Back.

Tonight, TBS kicks off the 7-episode limited comedy series Miracle Workers, which is based on the book “What in God’s Name” by Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman). The series in set in the headquarters of Heaven, Inc., where everyone has pretty much given up on humanity. God (Steve Buscemi) has grown bored with his creation and is upset that his number of fans has been steadily declining. Assistant Sanjay (Karan Soni, Deadpool) is getting increasingly frustrated with his omnipotent boss, especially when he announces that he is ready to just blow up the Earth and move on to a new venture/hobby.

The only person who seems to care is Eliza Hunter (Geraldine Viswanathan, Blockers) – she is tired of working in the Dept. of Dirt and requests a transfer. She is excited to join the Dept. of Answered Prayers, where she will be able to do some good. But when she arrives for her first day, she discovers only a single co-worker – low-level angel Craig (Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter), who seems content with just resolving a few minor requests to find lost items and marking the rest “impossible,” sending them up to the big boss, where they remain unanswered. Eliza is eager to actually make a difference, and when she learns of God’s plan to destroy Earth, she makes a bet with him – God will spare Earth if she and Craig are able to close one impossible prayer over the next 2 weeks. Their seemingly impossible task? Helping humans Sam (John Bass, Baywatch, Big Time in Hollywood, FL) and Rosie (Lolly Adefope, Damned, Loaded) fall in love.

I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere (which TBS has made available online and On Demand). It reminds me of The Good Place crossed with a workplace comedy, with some inspiration from series creator Simon Rich’s previous dating comedy Man Seeking Woman. I like that this is a short, limited series, so it’s not going to be a huge time commitment, and we’ll likely get a complete story in just 7 episodes. The main cast is a lot of fun and are joined by some great guest stars over the course of the series, including Tituss Burgess, Margaret Cho, Angela Kinsey, Tim Meadows, John Reynolds, and Chris Parnell. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the story plays out.

On tonight’s premiere, “2 Weeks,” frustrated with the mess that Earth’s become, God contemplates the end while two determined angels try to change his mind.

Go to Heaven and meet with God and his angels tonight on TBS at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording American Housewife, The Kids Are Alright, black-ish, The Rookie, This Is Us, and The Flash.

Good morning, USA! I have a feeling that it’s going to be a wonderful mid-season premiere of American Dad! tonight. This show is one of the funniest animated series ever, and I am glad there are still seasons to go on this whacky Seth McFarland creation. The mid-season finale was a classic and hilarious end to another amazing run of episodes. It started with Francine getting appointed guidance counselor at Steve’s high school, because of course. Steve’s French Club pals were putting on a fashion show, which prompted Rodger’s “school janitor persona” to warn Francine about the dangerous bullies, the “Golden Girls,” who will mock Steve’s efforts. This trio of bad girls, all with the same 1/2-Chelsea haircut, reminded Francine of the Archery Club bullies who once crushed her spirit in HS.

There was a completely “bleh” B story about Jeff losing his hat, and Stan and Klaus just sort of hopped into a high school movie tertiary character role and landed a few good jokes. Predictably, Francine tried to fit in with the girls rather than curbing their cruelty. She chopped her hair down to their style haircut to fit in and blew off her counselor duties. When Steve’s show finally did happen, it was a coconuts train wreck that got worse when Francine dumped clam chowder on his head – just to earn her golden bowling jacket, a sign she’s in the bad girl club now. When she tried to apologize to Steve about her actions, he urged her to rise above the petty nature of the Golden Girls and pursue the dreams the Archery Club once stole from her.

So she went into the cafeteria and did a break dance number, as that’s what high school Francine really wanted to do. She used her insight as a guidance counselor to out all sorts of dirt on the girls, and they fled in shame. The last scene was Jeff & Hailey at a hat store with a “to be continued” pinned on, as if that was some sort of suspense. No one cares, Jeff. You were cool when you were stranded in space with Sinbad, but you are back to being the suck now. Nonetheless, tonight is going to be awesome. This show is the bee’s knees and then some, get some.

On tonight’s episode, “One-Woman Swole,” after her family accuses her of being a quitter, Francine becomes a bodybuilder. Klaus claims to have invented the high five.

To see how it goes for bodybuilder Francine, tune in to TBS at 10/9c.

I’m also watching Arrow and Black Lightning.

Tonight, The Walking Dead returns to AMC. In the first half of the season, we said goodbye to Rick Grimes. While our main group believes that he is dead, we know that he was taken away in a helicopter and that his story will continue in some future TV movies. There was a time jump, and folks tried to move on, but Michonne still struggles with the loss of Rick. She was at odds with daughter Judith, who welcomed some new arrivals to Hilltop. Meanwhile, Negan has spent the past several years locked in a cell in Alexandria (why didn’t they just kill him?!), and Carol is married, living in the Kingdom, and helping to raise Henry as her son.

As the first half of the season came to a close, Daryl, Jesus, and Aaron were on a rescue mission to save Eugene and Rosita, who had been injured and were being pursued by an unusually intelligent herd of walkers. This herd was a lot more organized than usual, double-backing and following them at every turn – and Eugene swears that he heard them talking. The herd ended up cornering them into a cemetery and attacked. As Aaron was about to kill one of the walkers, it quickly dodged his weapon and then stabbed and killed him with a knife, whispering “You are where you do not belong” – certainly not your typical walker behavior! The others managed to kill this “walker” and then discovered that it was a normal human wearing a mask made out of walker flesh. Meanwhile, back in Alexandria, Negan discovered that Gabriel forgot to lock his cell and decided to make his escape.

Who are these new “Whisperers” with the ability to control the walkers, and what do they want? Do they plan to attack Alexandria, Hilltop, and/or The Kingdom? What does Negan plan to do with his newfound freedom? Will he go back to his old ways and rally his troops to get his revenge? Or will he just quietly go away? (I really hope it’s the latter!) I did not enjoy the last two seasons with all the Negan stuff, but the first half of this season was a surprising return to the great show I once loved – I didn’t even miss Rick, and I’m actually really looking forward to tonight’s midseason premiere! While I do wish the show would think about winding things down and plan an ending, it’s already been picked up for a tenth season, and Norman Reedus (Daryl) has signed on for 3 mores seasons (I guess they are trying to lock down at least one of the original characters for the long haul), so there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight.

On tonight’s midseason premiere, “Adaptation,” the communities thought they could build a better future separately, but the recent loss of one of their own drives them to band together; new leaders rise when a disturbing and dangerous threat is unmasked; an escaped captive revisits his past.

Catch up with the survivors tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Worst Cooks in America, Counterpart, Black Monday, and SMILF.

Last week was Gina’s last week at the 99 on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Tying back to the previous episode, she took Jake’s advice and decided to spread her wings and fly. Much to Holt’s dismay, she didn’t have concrete plans for her future – basically anything that would then make her a millionaire. During his time with her, while they played game after game of chess, Holt tried to talk her out of it, but she stuck to her guns. The funniest part of the episode was Gina and Jake trying to get to Mario Lopez at the Manhattan Club and then having him show up at the “hungry monkeys” party only to be turned away. It was a sweet episode, seeing her spend time with all (okay, most…poor Hitchcock & Sully. LOL) of them – or in Terry’s case, giving him a subscription to the Yogurts of the World Club.

I love this show, and I love that the move to NBC didn’t change it. It’s still the same show we’ve always known and loved – funny and quick=witted with a little bit of heart.

On tonight’s episode, “A Tale of Two Bandits,” Terry believes the Pontiac Bandit is stealing cars again, but Jake is convinced his friend wouldn’t do that. The rest of the squad fight to keep Shaw’s a police bar after some firemen stake their claim to it. Craig Robinson & Rob Riggle guest star.

See if Terry or Jake are correct about Doug Judy tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, The Titan Games, Top Chef, Dr. Pimple Popper, Will & Grace, Beat Bobby Flay, & S.W.A.T.
