boschsmallI’m a huge reader, and one of my favorite authors/series is Michael Connelly and his Harry Bosch series. So when the news first came out about it becoming a TV series on Amazon, I was over the moon. Thankfully, I was very, very happy with the first season last year. I LOVE Titus Welliver as Bosch. The writers and Welliver himself really capture the character from the book. It’s a slow-moving series – what real action there happens to be is pretty quickly resolved – but for me, that didn’t mean boring. There’s a lot to think about during the show, a lot of emotion and drama. I was incredibly happy when I learned of the renewal for season 2, which premieres late tonight/early tomorrow morning on Amazon at 3AM/2AMc.

The first season combined stories from two of the books, focusing on the remains of a missing boy and a trial for Bosch over the fatal shooting of a murder suspect. The second season picks up where season one left off and plays off the book Trunk Music. A dead body found in the trunk of a car on Mulholland Drive appears to have mob connections and leads LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch down a dangerous trail of corruption and collusion that stretches to Las Vegas and back. As the case becomes more complex and personal, and Bosch’s search for the truth more relentless, the dark side of the police department is brought to light.

Check out season 2 Thursday night/Friday morning on Amazon at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Top Chef, 2 Broke Girls, Colony, & Recipe for Deception.

wahlburgers2016smallOne of my favorite family reality shows, Wahlburgers, is back tonight on a 1-hour season premiere. Last season, it was more of the same for this fun family: Mark tortured Paul, Paul created a new burger for some football friends, Mark and Donnie got to spend time together in NYC when their schedules overlapped, and new Wahlburger restaurants opened in Toronto and Coney Island. Not to mention we got lots of Alma and brother Bob. I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for the Walberg family this go round.

On tonight’s episode, “Directing Drama,” when Johnny Drama looks to take his music career to the next level, Mark suggests Drama make a music video that Mark himself will direct. The music video will be Drama’s Wahlburgers Rap Jingle and shot down in New Orleans where Mark is filming his latest movie. Mark enlists music mogul Sean “P Diddy” Combs and movie director Peter Berg to help mentor Drama. But filming hits a rough patch when Drama is not comfortable with the alter ego “Drama Boy” that Mark creates for him.

Check out the crazy fun tonight on A&E at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rosewood, Hell’s Kitchen, Property Brothers, & CSI: Cyber.

damiensmallTonight, A&E kicks off a creepy new lineup. Bates Motel returns for its fourth season and is joined by new series Damien. This sequel to the 1976 film The Omen comes from The Walking Dead producer Glen Mazzara. It’s 25 years later, and Damien Thorn (Bradley James, Merlin) is all grown up, working as a war photographer in Syria. He is blissfully unaware of the fact that he is the Antichrist until, on his 30th birthday, his past comes back to haunt him and the truth is revealed. Damien’s close friend and colleague Amani (Omid Abtahi, Homeland) is also in for a shock when he learns Damien’s secret, which will test their friendship. Meanwhile, Ann Rutledge (Barbara Hershey, Once Upon a Time), a powerful woman who once protected Damien, has now been tasked with making sure that he fulfills his destiny. The rest of the cast includes Meganlyn Echikunwoke (Vixen), Scott Wilson (The Walking Dead), David Meunier (Aquarius), Tiffany Hines (Stitchers), Gerry Pearson, and Brody Bover.

While I’ve never seen any of the Omen films, I’m looking forward to checking out tonight’s premiere based on the premise and those involved both in front of and behind the camera. Plus, it sounds like a great companion series for Bates Motel!

On tonight’s premiere, “The Beast Rises,” acclaimed war photographer Damien Thorn realizes he is the Antichrist following a traumatic event while on assignment.

See what happens to alert Damien tonight on A&E at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Castle, Blindspot, Gotham, Lucifer, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, Major Crimes, Bates Motel, The Magicians, and Better Call Saul.

unforgettable2016smallI was so glad that A&E brought Unforgettable when I was sure it was going to be canceled after the last season ended. And this season has been great, even with the cast changes. I miss Eliot (Dallas Roberts) and Joanne (Jane Curtin) especially, but Alani “La La” Anthony as Delina the M.E., Kathy Najimy as Sandra the boss, and E.J. Bonilla as cutie Denny have been great additions. In the latest episode, the body of a young woman was found buried on the beach, and Carrie and Al found and arrested her killer and his accountant (or so they thought). Unfortunately, they were shot at and had to take cover from the bad guys and the coming hurricane in Precinct 51, which was closed for renovation with only an administrative assistant and a green cop (on the job literally four days) on the premises. The bad guys found them, but Denny and Jay drove through the storm to back them up, and they were able to take all the bad guys down, including the accountant…who turned out to be the actual big bad boss. I loved at the end when they met at the boardwalk and Carrie gave out shots to everyone, toasting to Al and to the others for coming to their assistance.

Tonight was supposed to be the two episodes leading up to next week’s final two of the season, but A&E decided to air four episodes tonight, which includes the season finale. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean that it’s the final episode of the SERIES, although since we haven’t heard any renewal news yet and they’re airing four episodes in one night, I have a feeling that news won’t be good. I really hope we get some resolution tonight on a few things. One, Carrie and Al. They’ve been hinting off and on all season that there’s something going on, although they’re either not exclusive or not serious or something, what with her (now ex) husband showing up a few times and their kiss. I WANT to see Carrie and Al kiss and become official, darn it! Also, I would love to get some resolution to Carrie’s sister’s murder. That story line has been a big part of her history since episode one.

On tonight’s first episode, “Game On,” when a young man turns up dead inside a popular haunted-house attraction, Carrie and Al are called in to investigate and soon find themselves in a world of high-stakes video games and hi-tech corporate espionage. Then on the second episode, “About Face,” when a hot lead turns up in a cold case of a missing surgeon, Carrie and Al find themselves on the trail of two con artists. But unmasking the truth may have explosive consequences.

On the third episode, “Bad Company,” when Captain Russo is suspected in the murder of an informant, Carrie and Al enter into a cat-and-mouse game with a crooked former cop. And finally, on the season finale, “Paranoid Android,” when a shooter on the loose triggers a flashback that doesn’t add up with Carrie’s perfect memory, the team at Major Crimes discovers that a nefarious conspiracy is at play and trained killers are among them.

Enjoy the mini-marathon and see how the season (possibly series?) ends tonight on A&E starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef: Junior, American Diner Revival, Hawaii Five-0, Hell’s Kitchen, Blue Bloods, & Burgers, Brew & ‘Que.

unforgettable1127smallMegan and Kyle are taking today off for the long holiday weekend, but because tonight is the season premiere of Unforgettable, I wanted to post. I was so sad when it looked like this show wouldn’t be back, but thankfully A&E picked it up. (I’m hoping for a better outcome than we got with The Glades!) There are some changes, mainly to the cast. Tawny Cypress, Dallas Roberts, and (even more sadly) Jane Curtin are out, while joining Poppy Montgomery, Dylan Walsh, and James Hiroyuki are Alani “La La” Anthony, E.J. Bonilla, and Kathy Najimy. I’m not sure why there were cast changes, but I’ll miss the others (Dallas Roberts and Jane Curtin especially).

Going into this new season on the new network, I have to wonder… Will Carrie and Al finally become a couple (again for them, but for the first time for us viewers)? Will the mystery of Carrie’s sister finally be solved completely? I can’t wait to find out!

On tonight’s first episode, “Blast from the Past,” Eddie Martin, Carrie’s long-lost husband, pays a visit to Major Crimes while investigating a meth crew that is involved in something more nefarious than dealing drugs.

Then on the second episode, “Gut Check,” Carrie and Al are assigned to transport the star witness in a high-profile securities fraud case to Miami, while attempting to evade the killers on their trail. Rachel Dratch guest stars.

To catch the start of the new season, tune in for back-to-back episodes on A&E at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, MasterChef: Junior, & American Diner Revival.
