lastmanstanding417smallMy first pick tonight is another comedy. I just did this one recently, but tonight’s the season finale of Last Man Standing, and given that it hasn’t been picked up for another season and tonight could end up being the series finale, I wanted to recommend it again. Last week, the status of Eve’s relationship — if there even was a relationship — with Chuck & Carol Larabee’s son was up in the air. We finally learned that Eve just had Brandon helping teach her golf because she didn’t want to disappoint her dad because she wasn’t a natural at the game. In the end, though, there sure was a look between Eve and Brandon… Makes me think there COULD be something there in the future.

On tonight’s episode, “Daddy Dearest,” when Mike and Ed take Ryan and his supposedly ailing dad, Victor, on their hunting trip, Victor admits he wasn’t truthful about his reasons for finally coming to see Ryan. Meanwhile, Vanessa scrambles to get more family members to attend Ryan and Kristin’s wedding. Jere Burns (Justified) guest stars.

See if Ryan and Kristin’s wedding goes off without a hitch and find out Victor’s secret tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

ncisla413smallMy top pick tonight is NCIS: LA. On the last new ep, the team investigated when a missile test was hijacked. Hetty brought in a young college student/genius tech girl — who already had a job at one of the government agencies waiting for her when she graduated — because she was even better at hacking and what not than both Nell and Eric. Nell got extremely jealous when it Eric seemed to be infatuated with the girl. It was cut, in the end, when he realized he didn’t fit in with the younger crowd as well as he thought he did. He came slinking back into OSP and met up with Nell, and they had an adorably fun moment flying a drone that Nell had just upgraded.

I love that we got the glimpse of Nell and Eric’s non-relationship relationship — they’re too cute together — but I’m eager to hear more about Deeks and LAPD’s IA investigation into him. There are only a handful of new episodes left in the season, so if we’re going to get some sort of conclusion before next season, I think that story line needs to be kicked into high gear. Unfortunately, this ep once again focuses on Callen (which isn’t a BAD thing…), but it’s especially irritating because Kensi has to go undercover as his girlfriend. *laugh*

On tonight’s episode, “Rage,” Callen and Sam resume their undercover identities as a prisoner and guard to infiltrate a white supremacist group believed to be in possession of stolen nuclear material, while Kensi transforms herself into a tattooed biker to play the part of Callen’s girlfriend. Also, Callen’s first meeting with Hetty is revealed.

To see how Callen met Hetty, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

grimm410smallGrimm has really sucked me in this season, although I’m not really pleased with the whole Juliette is a hexenbiest and Adalind is pregnant with Nick’s baby story lines — then again, neither of those two characters have been my favorite… I want Juliette and Nick to stay together because he’s happy with her, but I’m not sure that’s possible if she’s a hexenbiest, and I KNOW it isn’t possible when she’s being a raving crazy b…witch. I did love last week when the new Royal put Adalind in her place about the father of her baby by announcing that Viktor was sterile. *laugh* It’ll be interesting to see where both those stories go — the new Royal is a tough SOB, isn’t he?

On tonight’s episode, “Hibernaculum,” Nick and Hank are called to investigate a rare Wesen that leaves its victims frozen solid. Meanwhile, Juliette starts to feel that she is losing her humanity as she seeks to get revenge on Adalind. Elsewhere, Captain Renard continues to suffer from mysterious bleeding and visions, while Monroe works toward coming to grips with the Wesenrein incident.

See if Nick, Hank, and Wu can solve the case tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Last Man Standing, Cristela, Hawaii Five-0, Bride By Design, & Blue Bloods.

criminalminds48smallIt’s been a couple of weeks since the last new Criminal Minds (and how good was that? I totally called the mother being a creepazoid!), and I’m so excited for tonight’s episode, I can’t even explain it. I know a lot of people are tired of spin-offs, but give me a spin-off of my favorite procedurals, and I’ll for it. So tonight is the planted pilot, for lack of a better phrase, for Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. The cast is fantastic for the new show: Gary Sinise (best known for his role on CSI: NY and as Lieutenant Dan on Forrest Gump) plays Jack Garrett, basically the Rossi of the group—he’s a 20-year veteran of the BAU; Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) plays Lily Lambert, an international law expert; Daniel Henney (who starred in Three Rivers and guest starred a few times on Hawaii Five-0) is Special Agent Matthew Simmons, who is the “Morgan” of the group, kicking ass and taking names; and Tyler James Williams (probably best known for the role of Chris in Everybody Hates Chris, but he also guest starred in a handful of episodes of The Walking Dead more recently) plays the new team’s “Garcia,” tech guru Russ “Monty” Montgomery, who surprises Garcia with some of his additional responsibilities.

I think the show runners have learned their lesson after the failure of the first spin-off. This team is very much like the original BAU group, in that they work out of the FBI, unlike how Suspect Behavior worked out of a karate studio or old gym or whatever it was, and the team really echoes our FBI faves. So I have my fingers crossed that this plated pilot works well, because I really want Gary Sinise back on my screen every week!

On tonight’s episode, “Beyond Borders,” when a family of four is abducted while on vacation in Barbados, the BAU is called to assist Unit Chief Jack Garrett and his International Unit on their investigation. Garrett and his unit, the FBI’s top division for handling cases involving Americans abroad, work jointly with Hotch and his team when they discover that this case matches one the BAU investigated last year in Florida. Tom Everett Scott and Bonnie Somerville guest star as Greg and Colleen Sullivan, two members of the kidnapped family.

Meet the new team tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Young & Hungry, The Goldbergs, Law & Order: SVU, Mystery Diners, black-ish, Chicago PD, CSI: Cyber, Hot in Cleveland, & The Soul Man.

hawaiifiveo43smallIt’s been three weeks since the last new episode of Hawaii Five-0 (what is UP with the random breaks this second half of the season for so many shows?), and it was a great one. Steve was at Odell’s barbershop getting a haircut and old-fashioned shave, when a young man, bleeding from a gunshot wound, came stumbling in. They tried to stop the bleeding and Steve had to hold the bad guys off without his gun, which he’d left in his car, when they came to get the bleeding guy. There was a lot of action, a lot of bullets flying, and in the end, Steve figured out who was gunning for the kid. But it turned out the young guy was the bad guy’s son, and the father had figured out that his son was responsible for a good number of children going missing — he’d been kidnapping…and doing whatever else to…them for a while. He was trying to stop his son the only way he knew how without turning him in to the police. Seeing Steve break down was heartbreaking. Meanwhile, Jerry was accused of a string of home invasions, but Chin helped track down the guy who’d really been doing it. Jerry was hysterical as he freaked out over being in lockup for just a few hours. Overall, it was really a great episode — one of my favorite in a while.

I’ve seen tonight’s episode, and again, it’s a killer, emotionally. Michelle Hurd is back as Grover’s wife — and for a much bigger role this time. Also guest starring are Mykelti Williamson (Justified, 24, Boomtown, The Fugitive, & tons more) and Kim Wayans (Reckless, In Living Color). It’s really a terrific episode, and Grover absolutely shines.

On tonight’s episode, “’Ike Hanau,” when Grover’s oldest and closest friend tells him he witnessed his wife fall off a cliff to her death, Grover’s gut instinct tells him that this was no accident. Also, Danny and Dr. Shaw get trapped in an elevator with a dead body in need of processing.

To see what Grover’s gut is telling him, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Grimm, Last Man Standing, Cristela, Bride By Design, & Blue Bloods.
