hawaiifiveo227smallI’ve really been impressed with the stories on Hawaii Five-0 this season, and I continue to be amazed at the character growth weekly. Last week’s episode was an incredible nail biter, while we watched McGarrett and the team track down an arsonist with the help of a suspended ATF Special Agent Kathy Millwood (Melina Kanakaredes, CSI: NY), whose husband was killed by the arsonist. They managed to track him down to a hotel, but he took Agent Millwood hostage and planned on burning them down together in the hotel room. I was actually a little concerned we were going to have to watch yet another burn victim scene in this episode, but thankfully Steve saved the day and got to Kathy before the gas she was doused with was lit, turning her into a human torch. The subplot of this episode was really good with Danny and Amber going away for the weekend, but little did Amber know her abusive ex-husband, Frank, was on the island looking for her. Turned out that Frank was sent to jail for almost killing Amber, whose real name is actually Melissa. No matter what you call her, she was not looking to see him again. Unfortunately for Danny, who didn’t know anything about Frank, the man tracked them to the cottage and he knocked Danny out in the kitchen. When Danny came around, he saw Frank holding a knife to Amber. Always the hero, Danny jumped into motion, and while he saved Amber, he got stabbed himself. My favorite part came when Amber was leaving to drive Danny to the hospital and Frank jumped in front of the car. Amber hit him and then proceeded to run him over—karma at its finest, if you ask me. In the end, Danny survived, Amber told him everything, and of course Steve rushed to the hospital to check up on his partner. I’m really looking forward to where this season is headed, but wherever it is, you can be sure it’s going to be fantastic.

On tonight’s episode, “Kuka’awale (Stakeout),” McGarrett and Danny work on their relationship while they stakeout a woman’s apartment after she escapes following a diamond robbery. Max Weinberg, Cloris Leachman, Charlie Saxton, Jon Lovitz, & Jessica Lowndes guest star, and Daniel Dae Kim makes his directorial debut.

To see how this bromance couple works on their relationship, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Amazing Race, 12 Monkeys, and Glee.

hawaiifiveo213smallLast week’s Hawaii Five-0 was great, especially for Kono fans. Five-0 was hunting down at criminal who’d never been seen. When Kono was left at the hospital guarding the prisoner/informant/witness, we found out that the female shooting victim was actually the bad guy. She began chasing Kono and the prisoner/informant/witness (who’d been shot in the stomach) around the hospital. Kono put him in the laundry room, where he hid in a big laundry tub, as she tried to lead the woman away from him. There was a huge fight when the woman caught up with her, and Kono finally put her down by grabbing the paddles and shocked her—which sent her flying away from the gurney and into the wall. It was awesome. At the beginning of the episode, Kono had admitted to Adam that his ties to his family’s business bothered her, even though he was trying to make it all legitimate. In the end, after the fight with the bad guy/girl, she went to him, interrupting his meeting, and told him she loved him and wanted to be his wife. Cue the feels! It was great. I love her and Adam, and it’s nice to see a stable relationship on that show, where no one dies or leaves!

On tonight’s episode, “E ‘Imi pono (Searching for the Truth),” when a journalist is killed, Five-0 must use his past reporting to hunt down a presumed dead Congolese warlord who is alive and well living on Oahu. Also, as Valentine’s Day approaches, Danny overreacts when Grace’s texts to a boy start accidently coming up on his cell phone. Barkhad Adbi guest stars as the Congolese warlord.

Watch Danny overreact to his little girl growing up tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 12 Monkeys, Grimm, King of the Nerds, Love Lust or Run, & Blue Bloods.

hawaiifiveo26smallI’ve been having a rough time lately with health issues, and as cheesy as it sounds, it’s my favorite shows that get me through the bad stretches. One of those shows is Hawaii Five-0. Last week’s episode was full of intense moments, and it brought us the return of Joe, who has been away for a while and not in contact with Steve. Joe is working private security, and he needed Steve’s help to protect a patient that was being taken to the CDC on the island. He was the first American to get a super-powered strain of the bird flu, and it could become a terrorist weapon if it fell into the wrong hands. Steve was really quick to start talking to Joe about what his mother did to Wo Fat’s mother and how it was a crime, but their chat got cut short when they were ambushed by a crane hitting their SUV, and the patient was kidnapped. The rest of the episode consisted of them all racing around the island to figure out where the patient was and stopping the terrorist group before they used the virus to cause mass destruction to Hawaii and ultimately the world. Thankfully, they succeeded, but Joe was exposed, so he was going to be in isolation until they were sure he didn’t have it. That was a good time for Steve to bug the room, after lying to Joe, saying that he trusted him. I’m interested to see what Steve finds out from his spying and if it leads to uncovering more of the truth.

On tonight’s episode, “Powehiwehi (Blackout),” while Five-0 hunts for a notorious criminal who has never been seen, Kono must fight for her life when she discovers the villain’s identity. Also, Kono confesses to Adam that she’s conflicted about their future together because of his ties to his formerly corrupt family business. Michael Imperioli guest stars.

To see if Kono and Adam can make it through this, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Grimm, 12 Monkeys, Blue Bloods, Undercover Boss, Hart of Dixie, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, and Constantine.

hawaiifiveo130smallI’m happy that Hawaii Five-0 is coming back tonight after a week off, because it’s still one of my favorite shows to enjoy on a Friday night. The last episode, we watched as Steve lost his mind when his car was stolen, demanding the uniforms find it right away—they did, but unfortunately it had already been stripped. Steve pulled a MacGyver move and made fingerprint-lifting solution out of stuff in his trunk, finding the prints of the thief, who turned out to be a homeless teenage boy. I loved seeing the soft side of Steve as he gave the kid a break, got him a job, and showed a kindness for his situation—it’s a rare moment for the usually tough Navy Seal. The case of the week was a disturbing one, where we found out that the murders were being committed to cover up a crime that was committed years ago, when a security officer from a boys’ probation camp killed four boys because he said no one would miss them. I was so sad watching that but happy that in the end, the truth came out and the boys got justice.

On tonight’s episode, “La Po’ino (Doomsday),” a patient with a contagious and deadly strain of bird flu is kidnapped—and the people responsible plan to weaponize the virus. Terry O’Quinn guest stars.

To see how the team help save Hawaii from the virus, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Hart of Dixie, Constantine, 12 Monkeys, Glee, Grimm, and Blue Bloods.

glee19smallLove or hate it, Glee is back for one final 13-episode season, and it kicks off with a two-hour premiere tonight! Last season, Mercedes broke up with Sam after she realized she could be holding him back; Blaine killed his performance for the showcase, and it looked like he and Kurt would have a promising future together; and Rachel completed her script for the “Untitled Rachel Berry Project.” By the end of the season, all of our New York City characters disbanded, each going his or her separate ways, agreeing to reunite in 6 months.

This show has certainly lost a lot of its luster over the past few seasons, but since I’ve already been with it this far, I’m certainly sticking with it until the end. I’m cautiously optimistic they may be able to turn things around in these final 13 episodes. Hopefully with the introduction of some new characters and a return to its glee-club roots, the series can find that magic it first had when the show premiered. It will be interesting to see how they wrap everything up, knowing that this is the final season.

On tonight’s episode, “Loser Like Me; Homecoming,” Rachel returns to Lima after her TV failure and discovers that Sue has banished arts at the high school, which Rachel sets out to rectify. Meanwhile, Puck, Quinn, Santana, Artie, Mercedes, Brittany, and Tina show up at McKinley for Homecoming and decide to pitch in and help Rachel recruit members for the resurrected glee club.

Check out the beginning of the final season tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Undercover Boss, Cristela, Banshee, and Newsreaders.
