If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/6/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

If you’re like me and a fan of Bill & Jennifer Klein on The Little Couple, you’ll be happy to hear they, along with their kiddos Will & Zoey, are back tonight. Last season, they moved to St. Peterburg, Florida, when Jen got a job there. They bought a house but then had to have it retrofitted for little people. When we left off in December, the family was in China once again, for the first time after adopting Will a few years before. In addition to the four of them, they also took all six grandparents (Jen’s parents plus Bill’s mom and stepdad and dad and stepmom). Highlights included the walk up the Great Wall, where they had hot chocolate, and an adorable cooking lesson. All in all, it was a lot of fun for the whole family.

This season, we’ll see the family continuing to settle into St. Petersburg – in addition to school, the kids are involved in Bollywood dance and Cub Scouts (how cute!). On the downside, Jen needs hip replacement surgery, so the family must prepare for that. And Will, especially, is now old enough to really understand what surgery means. When Bill had his back surgery, neither kiddo was old enough to quite know what was going on. They knew they had to be careful with Daddy’s back, but that was pretty much it (at least, that’s what it seemed like to me). So it’ll be interesting to see how that all goes. Before tonight’s 2-hour season premiere, there’s an hour “Countdown to the New Season” special so you can catch up if you need to!

On tonight’s season premiere, “Wait, They’re Cutting You Open?” the family tries to make the best of the Christmas season as they travel to New York City for Jen’s hip replacement surgery.

See how the kids handle Jen’s surgery and find out how their time in Florida has been going tonight on TLC starting at 8/7c for the special and 9/8c for the 2-hour season premiere.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped & Bring the Funny.

I’m so happy because it seems like forever ago that we last saw Jen, Bill, Will, & Zoey on The Little Couple. When we left them, the family had visited friends in Vermont and had some fun in the snow, but the big question was their job and living situation… Jen got offered a huge job opportunity in St. Petersburg, Florida, heading up a new simulation division, which is what she’s been doing at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, but this would put her in charge of it at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. In the end, they decided that even though Bill was just getting ready to open a new, bigger store for his business, the positives outweighed the negatives, and they decided to head to Florida. It should be fun to catch up with them and see how the move goes (well, by this time, how the move went!).

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Why Do We Have to Move?” after accepting a job in St. Petersburg, Jen, Bill, and the kids travel to Florida to find a perfect new home, but with specific needs and two curious kids, house hunting isn’t easy; the family grabs a sweet treat to celebrate Jen’s birthday.

Go house hunting with the family tonight on TLC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Chopped, FBI, Lethal Weapon, NCIS: New Orleans, & Sweet Home Sextuplets.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/4/14

I am slowly healing from my hip injury, but I am impatient, so it feels like it’s taking forever to get back to normal! While I obsess about the speed I’m healing, let’s take a look at what’s on television to distract me.

Megan’s Choice

brooklyn9934smallBrooklyn Nine-Nine is one of my favorite moments of the entire week because it makes me giggle from start to finish. Last week, we learned that not only does Jake keep his mail in a bathtub (why didn’t I think of that?!), but that he is terrible with money and was going to lose his apartment. The shocking side of things was that Gena is actually extremely good with money and offered to buy Jake’s apartment and rent it back to him. I love that the captain did evaluations of the crew and that the sergeant went to bat for them all, saying that they are a gem of a team. That’s the thing about this show… It’s not just funny. There is also great character growth from an amazing cast that leaves us loving them more week after week. Honestly, if you haven’t tuned in yet, you are missing out on some incredible television.

On tonight’s episode, “Tactical Village,” the entire precinct heads to a mandatory training course, where Amy runs into Teddy (guest star Kyle Bornheimer), a fellow officer she once dated.

To see how the precinct behaves in public, tune in to FOX at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS: LA, NCIS, Mind Games, Person of Interest, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Glee, New Girl, About a Boy, Growing Up Fisher, Chicago Fire, Chopped, and The Voice.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/13/13

Wow. It’s back to school today for my sophomore in high school. I swear, time flies! I remember so much from the day he was born. It’s hard to believe he’s almost ready to drive! To console myself about him growing up that fast, I’m going to park myself in front of the TV and escape from the real world for a while. Kyle & I have some recommendations on good ways to do that if you’re looking to do the same. 😉

littlecouple528smallI just started watching The Little Couple at the beginning of this season, and I really enjoy it. Bill & Jen are just too sweet and cute together—and unlike Matt & Amy from Little People, Big World, there isn’t tension there every time we see them. When we last left them at the mid-season finale, they’d just taken custody of their new adopted son Will, from China. We didn’t get to see them bring him home, which is what tonight’s mid-season premiere is about. They are looking forward to the future, too, since they’re also adopting a little girl they’ve named Zoey, from India! Really fun stuff!

On tonight’s episode, “Welcome Home, Will!” Jen and Bill return to the States as new parents and experience family firsts.

To see how Will adjusts to his new home and new life, tune in to the one-hour mid-season premiere tonight on TLC at 10/9c.

I’ll also b e watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, America’s Got Talent, Capture, Covert Affairs, Rizzoli & Isles, & Chopped.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/28/13

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to work we go… I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! We had a pretty good day here, and now we’re ready to settle into the summer routine of being home alone all summer with my kiddo. Eek. LOL I don’t know about you, but I’ll be glad to have new TV every night to relax and unwind to. 😉

Jenny’s Choice #1

littlecouple528smallI’ve become enamored with The Little Couple this season. Jen & Bill are just the sweetest couple and really fun to watch. Both are under four feet tall. He owns his own business. She is a doctor (neonatologist, I think…). And they’ve been trying to have a baby. After problems with invitro and a miscarriage with their surrogate, they decided to adopt. They finally decided on a little boy (a couple of years old) from China they’ve named Will and a little girl (8 months old) from India they’ve named Zoey…and both are dwarves as well. Last week, Jen & Bill went to China to adopt their son. At the end of the episode, they were waiting in the room of the hotel, waiting for their adoption liason to bring the little boy in. It’s so nerve-racking, but so exciting!

On tonight’s episode, “Best Day Yet!” the big day arrives as Bill and Jen anxiously wait to meet their new son William, but nervousness and anxiety overwhelm them.

See the new family tonight on TLC at 10:30/9:30c.
