If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/9/18

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

I’m so happy because it seems like forever ago that we last saw Jen, Bill, Will, & Zoey on The Little Couple. When we left them, the family had visited friends in Vermont and had some fun in the snow, but the big question was their job and living situation… Jen got offered a huge job opportunity in St. Petersburg, Florida, heading up a new simulation division, which is what she’s been doing at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, but this would put her in charge of it at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. In the end, they decided that even though Bill was just getting ready to open a new, bigger store for his business, the positives outweighed the negatives, and they decided to head to Florida. It should be fun to catch up with them and see how the move goes (well, by this time, how the move went!).

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Why Do We Have to Move?” after accepting a job in St. Petersburg, Jen, Bill, and the kids travel to Florida to find a perfect new home, but with specific needs and two curious kids, house hunting isn’t easy; the family grabs a sweet treat to celebrate Jen’s birthday.

Go house hunting with the family tonight on TLC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Chopped, FBI, Lethal Weapon, NCIS: New Orleans, & Sweet Home Sextuplets.

Phoebe’s Choice

The return of CW superhero shows is in full swing starting tonight with the season premiere of both The Flash & Black Lightning. Pushing into its fifth season, The Flash is one of the most highly anticipated superhero shows of the 2018-19 season, following the cliffhanger ending of last year’s finale. Let me take you back. That one began amidst the Thinker’s endgame, with 5 satellites over Earth beaming a network of magnetic rays that would render all humans brainless. To defeat him now, they only had one hope – the help of Thinker’s wife Marlize Davoe, who knew her husband had turned totally dark. She used a combination of Thinker’s floating chair and Cecile’s recently developing telepathy to send Flash into Davoe’s mind to find the “good” left in him.

Meanwhile, Cecile was having contractions and could go into labor any minute, but please don’t, because you are literally the living conduit linking Barry into the Thinker’s demented mind. He found Ralph, the Plastic Man, inside the villain’s mind. Which sorta made some sense because the current body that Davoe inhabited WAS Ralph’s. Ralph and Barry searched the mindscape and found the “good side” of Davoe. But he was dead. That’s when Barry figured it out. Ralph was the “good part” left in his mind. The two of them fought an army of Thinker manifestations – ala Agent Smith in The Matrix Part III – but soon made it past them and gave Ralph control of the body once again.

And that’s it. Big Bad defeated. Cool new team member, the Plastic Man, resurrected. But wait, Phoebe, didn’t you mention a cliffhanger? Well hells yeah I did. Okay so, when Davoe “died,” his satellites all crashed to Earth. Four of them crashed safely, but one crashed right on Central City. Fret not, though… Team Flash leapt into action to save the day! Only, when Barry ran up a building to punch and destroy the biggest chunk of the falling debris, a second speedster appeared next to him to help punch it to pieces.

So fast forward three days, and Joe and Cecile were having a baby shower or something, and the Mystery Girl who had been showing up randomly all season (usually at Jitters, but also at Barry & Iris’s wedding) showed up and walked right in. She admitted she was Nora, Barry & Iris’s daughter from the future, and that she had made a serious mistake!!

Well, to me it seems she came back in time to save her dad from suffering some sort of horrible injury in the attempt to punch the satellite. We already know that when speedsters change timelines that the Time Wraiths show up and attack them, so I bet she’s been facing them already and sought her family’s help!

On tonight’s episode, “Nora,” after an unexpected guest from the future, Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy), appears at their home, Barry and Iris must figure out how to get her back to the future without disrupting the timeline…even more than she already has. Team Flash must work together to send Nora back, while simultaneously fighting off another villainous meta.

Find out if & how they get Nora back home tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching the Black Lightning premiere, The Gifted, & Lethal Weapon. Fall TV is back!!

Megan’s Choice

NCIS: New Orleans had us on the edge of our seats again last week when Pride ended up pulled into an investigation when he just dropped by to say hi to the team. While there he got offered a more relaxed job as a regional director, out of the field, but he didn’t accept right away. Pride managed to help solve the case, and we were reminded yet again that the team needs him in order to be complete.

On tonight’s episode, “Diplomatic Immunity,” while NCIS investigates the murder of a Navy intelligence officer killed during a conference for foreign diplomats, the key witness cozies up to Sebastian. Also, Pride has some trouble adjusting to his new position at the agency.

To see if Pride decides to stay in the new position, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching NCIS, The Voice, The Flash, FBI, New Amsterdam, and This Is Us.
