Tonight, the first season of USA Network’s crime drama Eyewitness comes to a close. Last week, things got really tense – Lukas survived being shot but was in a coma. Ryan tried to poison Lukas’s IV bag in order to finally silence him, but Lukas was moved to another room before the bag was attached. Ryan was also surprised to learn that Philip, Helen’s foster son, was another witness to his murders. Meanwhile, Philip recognized Ryan at a gas station and alerted Helen (though neither was aware that he is the FBI agent she has been working with). Things went into high alert at the hospital, and Helen called Ryan to help protect the boys. However, shortly afterwards she finally had her Keyser Söze moment – in Ryan’s glove compartment she found the cologne worn by the killer, and in the backseat she saw the hat and glasses Philip said the killer was wearing. Her heart sank as she realized that she had just told the killer exactly where the boys were hiding.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this first season of Eyewitness. The series has a very unique look and feel. Each of the characters has his or her own interesting storyline, complete with character flaws and personal demons to overcome. And the central relationship between Philip and Lukas is one that is not regularly seen on TV. At the same time, we’ve also been getting this really tense cat-and-mouse game with Ryan always being two steps ahead of Helen and ready to kill her if she learns too much. I found myself yelling at the screen, hoping for Helen to realize what was really going on with Ryan. She had just been handing him all the evidence and details on the case. I was thrilled to finally see her wake up at the end of last week’s episode. But is it too late? Will she be able to stop him before he gets to the boys? Also, assuming his son survives, how will Bo react to Lukas’s relationship with Philip? And how will Tony take the news that his idol is the killer they had been looking for?

On tonight’s finale, “Mother’s Day,” Helen learns the identity of the killer and races to find Philip and Lukas, who are missing.

Catch the finale tonight on USA Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary and The Librarians.

shooter1129smallUSA Network recently launched the new series Shooter, which is based on the same novel as the 2007 film of the same name. Ex-Marine and expert marksman Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Phillippe, Secrets and Lies) was living a quiet lakeside life with his wife and daughter when he was approached by longtime friend/Secret Service agent Capt. Isaac Johnson (Omar Epps, House). A sniper had announced his intention to assassinate the president, and Isaac wanted Bob Lee’s help to prevent it. However, things went wrong and the Ukrainian president ended up dead, and Bob Lee quickly realized he had been set up to take the fall. In last week’s episode, Isaac arranged for someone to kill Bob Lee in prison, but he thwarted this attempt and managed to escape, making his way to the home of the mother of an deceased military buddy. However, Isaac wasn’t far behind, so he grabbed some money and a motorcycle and took off. He then made a call to his wife Julie, knowing the Feds were listening, and told her, “I’m going to do what I do best. I’m going to hunt.”

So now Bob Lee is out for justice — to clear his name and kill those responsible for the assassination and setting him up. Why was Bob Lee chosen as the patsy? Why did Isaac turn on his friend, and who is he working for? Was the US president really the target, or was the Ukrainian present the real target the entire time? Things are starting to get really exciting, and I’m anxious to see what happens next!

On tonight’s episode, “Musa Qala,” Bob Lee reaches out to Nadine while evading his pursuers; and Isaac juggles his double life while trying to find Bob Lee.

See what Bob Lee learns from Nadine tonight on USA Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, The Real O’Neals, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, Scream Queens, The Flash, No Tomorrow, Sweet/Vicious, and Good Behavior.

royalpains518smallI’m so happy because tonight is the season premiere of Royal Pains. On the season finale last July, all our favorite characters had big story lines. Hank came face to face with his ex-fiance, Nikki. Throughout the course of the episode, we got to see Hank’s memory of their breakup and then watched as he realized he had been remembering it wrong all this time. Maybe he can really move forward now that he isn’t completely blaming Nikki. Poor Divya lost her grandmother, but she also made the decision that she was going to go to school to become a doctor AND she and Raj met up again, and once he said that his marriage was over, he and Divya both admitted they still loved each other, he proposed, and she accepted! And finally… Evan and Paige were all set to adopt a young girl’s baby, but once she went into labor and Paige reunited her with her mother, they realized that Elan was ready to become a mother, so they bowed out of the adoption.

So where do they all go from there? Will Hank find love? Will Divya still be able to work with Hank Med AND go to school to become a doctor, and will she and Raj make a go of it? And what about Paige and Evan? Will they find a baby to adopt or will they get a miracle and be able to have their own? Whatever is coming for them all, I can’t wait to watch and find out!

On tonight’s episode, “Stranger Danger,” Hank treats a politician while Jeremiah enlists Divya’s help. Hank and Evan react very differently when Eddie returns to the Hamptons, and Divya’s future plans hit a roadblock. Henry Winkler guest stars.

Catch the premiere tonight on USA Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rosewood, The Goldbergs, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, black-ish, & Chicago PD.

ncis510smallLast week’s NCIS was kind of sad but also heartwarming. The episode opened with a man in a military uniform saying good-bye to his baby daughter, teenage son, and wife before being deployed. Then in the episode, that same teenager foiled what seemed to be a home invasion by grabbing his father’s gun and shooting at the intruder. Unfortunately, the boy was hiding what had really happened – the man, a drug dealer, was specifically coming after him because the boy had witnessed him killing a rival. Fortunately, the man was caught and the boy and his family were safe, and the boy’s father was brought home early, reuniting the family.

Then in the ongoing search for Jacob Scott, Director Vance and FBI Agent Fornell went over to London. They finally met up with former MI6 Chief Jessica Terdei and Fornell brought her to the US after Jacob Scott (we assume) found her at her father’s house. Unfortunately, while they were hiding out at Gibbs’s house, Fornell noticed a footprint in the kitchen and realized there was someone in his basement. He went back to Jessica and warned her, but before they could pull their guns or escape, they were shot. She was killed, and we were left with Fornell reaching out for his phone, where his daughter was calling.

We’re down to the final two episodes of the season and Michael Weatherly’s (Tony’s) final two episodes of the series. So first, where was Tony last week?! Was MW filming his pilot for Bull? Maybe… I don’t know. But it seemed very odd to me that with only a few episodes left, he wasn’t in that at all. Second, will Fornell survive? I can’t imagine that they’ll kill him off (for the same reason Vance can’t die…). His daughter lost her mother. Surely they won’t make her an orphan by killing off her father too… And finally, tonight we meet the two new agents who will be joining the team next season, Sarah Clarke (24) plays FBI Special Agent Tess Monroe and Duane Henry is MI6 Office Clayton Reeves.

On tonight’s penultimate episode, “Dead Letter,” the NCIS team, alongside the FBI and MI6, continue an international manhunt for an escaped British spy who has left one colleague fighting for their life in ICU.

Meet the soon-to-be team members and find out Fornell’s fate tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, The Real O’Neals, Chicago Med, Containment, NCIS: NOLA, Chicago Fire, Chopped, & Person of Interest.

wynonnaearp41smallThere’s a new show starting tonight on Syfy that could either be fun or really ridiculous. I’m hoping for the first. And it may seem like an April Fools’ Day prank, but it isn’t… Wynonna Earp follows Wyatt Earp’s great-granddaughter as she battles demons and other creatures. After years away, Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano, Damien, The Listener, Being Erica) has traveled back to her home town of Purgatory to reluctantly take on the role destined for Wyatt Earp’s heir: Demon protector. Her enemy: Revenants, the resurrected (and twisted) souls of the criminals Wyatt Earp once took down. Working alongside Wynonna is her sister Waverely (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), who has an obsession with their family’s legacy and is more than a little bitter that she wasn’t chosen as the heir to take over the family business; associate Agent Dolls (Shamier Anderson, The Next Step), an all-business straight shooter; and Wyatt’s cursed-with-immortality-best-friend Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon, Schitt’s Creek, Being Human, Lost Girl, Instant Star), a man with a thirst for revenge and on a mission to rectify the past. They must try to stop the Revenants from taking over the town – and escaping into the world.

Like I said, this could be a lot of fun or just silly enough to be stupid. But the premise is interesting, so it’s worth a shot to figure out if you’ll enjoy it or not!

On tonight’s episode, “Purgatory,” on her 27th birthday, Wynonna Earp reluctantly returns home to take on her family’s legendary curse.

Meet Wynonna and the rest of the Revenant-hunting gang tonight on Syfy at 10/9c.
