lastmanstanding417smallMy first pick tonight is another comedy. I just did this one recently, but tonight’s the season finale of Last Man Standing, and given that it hasn’t been picked up for another season and tonight could end up being the series finale, I wanted to recommend it again. Last week, the status of Eve’s relationship — if there even was a relationship — with Chuck & Carol Larabee’s son was up in the air. We finally learned that Eve just had Brandon helping teach her golf because she didn’t want to disappoint her dad because she wasn’t a natural at the game. In the end, though, there sure was a look between Eve and Brandon… Makes me think there COULD be something there in the future.

On tonight’s episode, “Daddy Dearest,” when Mike and Ed take Ryan and his supposedly ailing dad, Victor, on their hunting trip, Victor admits he wasn’t truthful about his reasons for finally coming to see Ryan. Meanwhile, Vanessa scrambles to get more family members to attend Ryan and Kristin’s wedding. Jere Burns (Justified) guest stars.

See if Ryan and Kristin’s wedding goes off without a hitch and find out Victor’s secret tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

thegoldbergs415smallOne of my favorites comedies is still The Goldbergs. It really is one of the funniest shows on TV. And I love the fact that so much of it is straight from Creator/Executive Producer Adam Goldberg’s childhood. Last week, it was Adam’s birthday, and while he simply wanted to hang out at the arcade with his friends, adamant about not having a birthday party — which he deemed too “young” — his mother (unsurprisingly) went behind his back and invited his friends (and one not-really-a-friend popular boy) over for a sleepover. Unfortunately, the boys decided to act stupid: one brought a smoking pipe, one brought throwing stars, and one brought homemade beer…which unsurprisingly made all the other boys sick (thankfully before Adam could take a drink). After being told they couldn’t hang out together anymore, Adam convinced his mom to reconsider and she finally realized that he was growing up, but he was still her little boy. Meanwhile, Barry and Erica tried to convince Murray to buy them a CD player (think HUGE stereo system for like $800. LOL), but he refused. After the usual back and forth, they got their CD player and the three of them took a step toward understanding one another like this show is so great at doing.

The funniest part for me, though, was at the end, when Barry had a portable CD player (like a Walkman) and he complained to Erica about it skipping. She was convinced she had it right when she held it way up above her head in one hand…but no, it still skipped. Oh yeah… I remember those days! That’s what I love about this show: the way it takes me back to my childhood every week. And tonight, we get two episodes, so double yay!

On tonight’s first episode, “La Biblioteca Es Libros,” Beverly finds out Adam is failing Spanish class, so she pays his teacher to tutor him. Barry takes on a job delivering pizzas in an effort to impress Murray, and Erica is bothered that Murray has never been impressed by her accomplishments. Then on the second episode, “Just Say No,” as the presidential election nears, Erica discovers Beverly always picks the candidate that Murray tells her to, and she plans to teach her mother about politics. After losing a wrestling match, Barry hopes to get on an athletic game show to prove his skills.

Laugh along with me tonight on ABC at 8:30/7:30c & again at 9:31/8:31c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Young & Hungry, Criminal Minds, Mystery Diners, CSI: Cyber, Hot in Cleveland, & The Soul Man.

yourfamilyormine47smallWith another of their comedies just ending, it’s time for TBS to put out a new one, and tonight, that happens with Your Family or Mine, starring Kyle Howard (Royal Pains), Kat Foster (‘Til Death), Richard Dreyfuss, & JoBeth Williams. Kelli (Foster) and Oliver (Howard) are a young couple at the center of this new show, which alternates between them and other members of their family each week, including his parents, played by Dreyfuss & Williams. We see them dealing with complexities and eccentricities of both their families while trying to maintain their own marriage and sanity. It’s based on a very popular Israeli comedy of the same name.

There have been a lot of comedies similar to this one, all about the different people and couples within a family, so I don’t know how American audiences will take to this one. But I love both Kyle Howard and Kat Foster, and Richard Dreyfuss and JoBeth Williams are big names. Plus, the previews on TBS have looked really funny, so I’m crossing my fingers it’ll be good!

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” happily married couple, Kelli and Oliver Weston are living the old adage “marry your spouse, marry their family” as they spend their weekends visiting their respective in-laws and learning to maneuver through the idiosyncrasies that make up every family. Kelli’s and Oliver’s two very different backgrounds are clear as they each find their own way of making it work.

Meet the families tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, NCIS, 19 Kids & Counting, iZombie, Married at First Sight, NCIS: NOLA, Weird Loners, 7 Little Johnstons, Chicago Fire, Chopped, & Younger.

archer42smallTonight, the sixth season of the FX spy comedy Archer comes to a close. In last week’s episode, a top CIA scientist had a clot in his brain, and Archer and friends were chosen to be miniaturized and injected into the man’s body, where they would pilot a ship to his brain and blast away the clot. It was important that they be injected as close to the brain as possible, as they only have 60 minutes before the miniaturization wears off. However, during the injection process, an outraged Krieger smashed into the room, causing the microscopic Archer and his crew to be injected into the patient’s foot instead, leaving them with a much longer and more difficult journey!

While it’s sad to see another fun season of this show come to an end, I’m really looking forward to seeing how tonight’s second half of the finale plays out. Now that the gang is actually on their voyage, do any of them have any knowledge of human physiology or biology? How are they going to find their way to this man’s brain to save him? Will they save him, or will this end in one big creepy, comical, literal mess on the operating room table?

On tonight’s episode, “Drastic Voyage: Part II,” the conclusion of the Season 6 finale sees the end of the gang’s most incredible voyage.

Check out the season finale tonight on FX at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, The Odd Couple, Grey’s Anatomy, American Crime, The Blacklist, The Slap, Bones, Dig, and Olympus.

younger331smallIt’s a busy night for me tonight, but one of the things I’m most excited about is the series premiere of Younger, on TV Land. This new romantic comedy stars Sutton Foster (Bunheads) as Liza, who goes back to work at age 40, only to find out she’s considered too old in her line of work, the competitive world of publishing. Her best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar, Entourage) convinces her to change her look and lie on her resume and pretend to be 26…and it works. Miriam Shor (GCB) plays Liza’s prickly boss Diana, while her new “friend” and coworker Kelsey is played by Hilary Duff. Meanwhile, Liza meets sexy tattoo artist Josh (played by Nico Tortorella, The Following) at a bar and tries to tell him how old she is, but…well, let’s just say that I wouldn’t be trying to hurry him out of my life either!

This seems like it’s going to be a good fit on TV Land. It’s not a show about teenagers. These are adults out in the real world, but the cast is still young and fun and the show looks like it’ll be a lot of fun. Sutton Foster is adorable, Debi Mazar is funny, Hilary Duff’s character seems great (from the previews I’ve seen), and eye candy Nico Tortorella sure won’t make it hard to watch. *laugh*

On tonight’s first episode, “Pilot,” a 40-year-old, single mother changes her look to get her dream job, but after passing for a woman in her mid-twenties, she must find a way to keep up the ruse. Then on “Liza Sows Her Oates,” Liza must make an aging writer’s work appealing to a younger audience; Liza goes on a great date with Josh but wants to look for a more age-appropriate partner.

Check out the 1-hour series premiere tonight on TV Land at 10/9c.
