I loved the previous new episode of Scorpion. When an online friend of Happy’s disappeared in the middle of a conversation and never returned, Happy hacked in and found where the address the IP was coming from. She went to the nearby town and found a house surrounded by police and fire trucks. Turned out the girl had to live in a “bubble” because she was so immune compromised that she couldn’t be exposed to anything. Unfortunately, a bad storm knocked a tree and power lines into their roof, which was threatening her power supply for the oxygen and air purifier, and debris was about to crash through the hole in the roof and puncture the “bubble” (enclosure made of plastic sheeting-type stuff) she lived in. Of course, Scorpion made the trip and figured out a way to save her, but it was crazy – involved her first in a fireman’s Hazmat suit, then in a vat of fresh honey when she had an allergic reaction in the suit, finally coming out into an industrial freezer right after they burned off all the germs using cans of Sterno. Once again, you had to go with suspension of disbelief, but that’s a norm for this show. LOL

On other notes… Cabe broke up with Allie after she posted a damning video of Sly on the internet, of him wiping his palm on his sweater after shaking a military veteran’s hand. He was doing it with everyone, not singling out the veteran, but when Allie’s boss told her to do that, she did it. Cabe understood that it was her job and she needed her job, but he couldn’t be with someone who attacked one of his “family.” Sylvester ended up losing the election, but he saved the comic book store, as they found out from one of the veterans that the building had been around long enough to qualify as historic and therefore couldn’t be torn down. And finally (FINALLY!), Paige and what’s-his-face (LMAO) broke up when…okay, okay…Tim extended his time overseas because it wasn’t working out for them long distance. Yay!

On tonight’s episode, “Monkey See, Monkey Poo,” to stop a dangerous virus from spreading, Team Scorpion must locate a rare endangered monkey in the Amazon that has the antibody for the cure. Also, Toby and Happy see a counselor to prepare for matrimony. Guest star Penn Jillette returns.

See if the team can find the monkey in time tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 24: Legacy, Kevin Can Wait, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, APB, & 2 Broke Girls.

Tonight, Bates Motel returns for the start of its fifth and final season on A&E. As the fourth season came to a close, Norman had gone full-on Psycho, blocking up the furnace vents in order to try to kill himself and his mother via carbon monoxide. Romero happened to stop by the house shortly afterwards and tried to save them, but it was too late for Norma. Norman had left a suicide note from Norma, but Romero figured out what must have really happened. He had a gun ready and was planning to kill Norman but was arrested for perjury, which delayed those plans. After the funeral, Norman dug up his mother’s body and brought it back home, but he still seemed confused and hadn’t really accepted that Norma is actually dead.

As we head into the final 10 episodes of the series, I’m curious to see what stories the writers have left to tell. We’re almost to the point in Norman’s journey that took place in the original Psycho film. Are we building to that moment? Will they re-create the events of the film in the series? Will Dylan learn about his mother’s death, and if so, how will he react and will he return home? Will Romero get his revenge on Norman, or will he ultimately become one of his latest victims? I’m looking forward to seeing how this creepy final chapter plays out.

On tonight’s premiere, “Dark Paradise,” a troubling discovery surfaces and Dylan and Emma get a surprise guest.

Check out the beginning of the end tonight on A&E at 10/9c.

And in case you need a refresher going into the final season, A&E will be airing a 30-minute “Quickie Catchup” before tonight’s premiere, at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, Timeless, APB, Jane the Virgin, Humans, and Beyond.

Tonight, AMC’s sci-fi drama, Humans, returns for a second season. The series is set in the near future, where human-like robots known as synths have become a regular part of society, almost like a standard household appliance. In the first season, some of these synths had become sentient and now had the ability to think and feel like humans. Leo Elster, the son of the original creator of the synths – and part synth himself – had been tracking down these conscious synths to protect them from those eager to tear them apart to discover what makes them tick. The Hawkins family, who had purchased one of these synths to help out with housework, found themselves swept up in the middle of the action and drama. By the end of the season, Leo’s group of sentient synths interfaced with one another in order to share their individual pieces of the sentient code. Leo saved the completed code to a hard drive and considered publishing it so that all synths round the world would have the choice to become conscious, but he ultimately decided to hold off. However, synth Niska secretly made her own backup of the code before heading off to some unknown destination to live on her own.

What does Niska plan to do with this code? Will she unleash it to awaken every synth around the globe? Will Leo ever find a safe haven for Mia and the others? And who is still hunting them down to discover this “flaw” in the code? Will Laura ever forgive her husband Joe for sleeping with their synth, Mia, and how will the Hawkins family fit into the larger story of the second season?

This series was in my top ten for 2015, and I’m really happy to finally see it back for a second season! Not only does it provide an interesting story, some tense moments, and some great drama, but there is also this very interesting layer to the show that explores what actually makes someone human. The acting is superb – the people playing the synths are amazing at making these characters look so lifeless and robotic as needed!

On tonight’s premiere, “Episode 1,” Niska faces a critical decision, while Mia, Leo, and Max remain in hiding. Meanwhile, the Hawkins struggle to move on; and Dr. Athena Morrow gets a surprise visitor.

See the season premiere tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, The Celebrity Apprentice, Timeless, 24: Legacy, APB, Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, and Beyond.

One of the shows I’ve most been looking forward to is APB, which premieres tonight on FOX. Justin Kirk (Tyrant, Weeds) stars as tech billionaire Gideon Reeves. When he witnesses his best friend’s murder and learns that the police may never be able to find the killer, he decides to fix it the only way he knows how: using technology. From fancy new cop cars to a drone and much, much more, he’ll do a complete overhaul on how the police in the 13th District fight crime. Natalie Martinez (Kingdom, Under the Dome) stars as Detective Theresa Murphy, who has a great chemistry with Reeves, although it takes her a bit to warm up to him. Ernie Hudson is great as the precinct’s captain, Ned Conrad. And Nestor Serrano (The Last Ship, Revenge) plays Mayor Michael Salgado, a character I think I’ll love to hate.

I’ve seen the pilot and really enjoyed it. Reeves is quite cocky, very full of himself, but Justin Kirk plays him brilliantly when his friend is killed. I loved the tech they used in this first episode alone, so I can’t wait to see more! One thing I loved is that I don’t think they used any tech that I couldn’t see actually being used in real life…

On tonight’s episode, “Hard Reset,” after witnessing the murder of his best friend, tech billionaire Gideon Reeves takes charge of a troubled Chicago police district and reboots it using technical innovation; Gideon launches the APB app, but things don’t go quite as planned.

Check out the new show tonight on FOX at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 24: Legacy, Kevin Can Wait, Kids Baking Championship, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, 2 Broke Girls, & Scorpion.

Tonight, The Celebrity Apprentice returns to NBC, but this time it’s got a new name and a new host. The Donald has been fired, and the contestants on The New Celebrity Apprentice have a brand new boss to impress: Arnold Schwarzenegger! This year’s crop of celebrities includes TV hosts/entertainers Brooke Burke-Charvet, Carson Kressley, Matt Iseman, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, & Porsha Williams, musicians Carnie Wilson, Boy George, & Vince Neil, actors/comedians Carrie Keagan, Jon Lovitz, & Kyle Richards, and sports personalities Chael Sonnen, Eric Dickerson, Laila Ali, Lisa Leslie, & Ricky Williams.

I had quit watching this series many years ago, and even though I don’t really know who half these “celebrities” are, I’m really interested to see how much the series has changed with the move to LA and the addition of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the host. And Arnold also has some new advisers: Tyra Banks and his nephew Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger. Will Arnold use “You’re Fired,” or will he have his own fun new catch phrase? I really hope it involves something like “Hasta La Vista, You Won’t Be Back!”

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “In Here You Call Me Governor; Your Smile’s Gonna Knock Them Out,” sixteen celebrities create a 10-minute beauty experience. Later, they must produce an original song and video for Trident.

Meet the new boss tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Man With a Plan, The Wall, MasterChef Celebrity Showdown, and Beyond.
