Tonight, Supergirl returns from its holiday hiatus. When we last left off, CADMUS had unleashed its deadly Project Medusa virus, which had originally been created by Kara’s father as a precautionary weapon to kill all non-Kryptonians but has now been altered to eliminate all non-humans. A small-scale test of the weapon left Mon-El infected and Eliza looking for a cure. Supergirl tried to stop Lillian from dispersing more of the virus, but she arrived too late – Lena had already launched the rocket. However, it turned out that Lena was only pretending to help her mother and that she had replaced the virus with an inert gas. Elsewhere, J’onn was locked in a battle with Cyborg Superman and was forced to use his White Martian mutation to defeat him. At the end of the episode, Alex finally got a chance to come out to her sister, just before Kara was whisked off by Barry Allen and Cisco for her big DC crossover adventure.

How will Kara’s other-earthly adventures affect her now that she’s back on her own Earth? Can Lena be trusted – is there really such a thing as a good Luthor? Has J’onn finally accepted the fact that he’s going to become a White Martian, or will he continue to look for ways to fight the mutation? I really enjoy Supergirl because it is one of the lighter, more fun shows in The CW’s DC lineup. The series has already been renewed for a third season, so there’s plenty more fun adventures for Kara to come.

On tonight’s episode, “Supergirl Lives,” the story of a missing woman named Izzy moves Kara to investigate, even though Snapper Carr has told her to leave the matter alone. When Kara and Mon-El check out the last place Izzy was seen, they end up thrust through a portal to another planet, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves as part of a trafficking ring run by Roulette. Meanwhile, Alex blames herself – and her new relationship with Maggie – for her sister’s disappearance.

Find out how Kara gets home tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, The Celebrity Apprentice, Timeless, Gotham, Lucifer, Jane the Virgin, Beyond, and The Young Pope.

Recap/Review – Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – 1/20/17

This week’s episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (titled: “Josh is the Man of My Dreams, Right?”) has the “devil winds” messing with the personal lives of our beloved characters.

Recap:

In the wake of Rebecca and Josh’s engagement, everything seems status quo for this couple. Rebecca is giddy at work, showing off her ring, and she and Josh even find a wedding venue. The only hitch is that it’s not available for two whole years. They agree being engaged for two years will be easy…then the “Santa Ana Winds” roll into town with a Jersey Boys-esque song that hilariously weaves its way through the entire episode. These “devil winds” are out to mess up everyone’s lives.

At work, Paula talks to Rebecca about her engagement and mentions that she must be having goosebumps about Josh since the proposal. Rebecca fakes having these feelings for Josh to her friend but instead wonders why her goosebumps appear for her arrogant and attractive boss, Nathaniel. And they even have the same sex dream about each other. Rebecca tries to avoid Nathaniel and their constant bantering until they get stuck in an elevator together. Their saving grace is George, but he’s tired of everyone treating him like a nobody, so when he wants Rebecca and Nathaniel to say his name, they can’t remember it and he leaves them there.

Recap/Review – Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – 1/13/17

This week’s episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (titled: “Will Scarsdale Like Josh’s Shayna Punim?”) brought the new couple back to Rebecca’s home for a Bar Mitzvah, where things don’t turn out as she expected.

Recap:

At the office, Nathaniel cracks down on the overabundance of candy. Darryl fights back, and soon enough everyone in the office backs him up. Nathaniel is not impressed. When his father calls and doesn’t give him a big client, he has a breakdown, eats an extraordinary amount of candy, and falls flat on his face on his desk treadmill. Darryl gives him a pep talk, and it appears that Nathaniel has some humanity in that beautiful stubborn head of his.

Josh and Rebecca seem to be doing well as a couple. And there’s a whole song telling us about it. “We’ll Never Have Problems Again” is a fun disco song that Josh and Rebecca sing as a duet.

They appear to be in their honeymoon phase and are posting pictures on social media religiously. Rebecca meets up with Valencia to talk about her relationship with Josh, but Valencia already knows since she is friends with Rebecca on her social media accounts. Valencia offers some advice to Rebecca, but it’s ignored. As is the advice from Father Brah when Josh speaks with him about Rebecca.

Oh my gravy! Last week on Rosewood, the only important thing that happened (okay, not THE ONLY one, but still…) was that at the end, Rosie learned that Tawnya had played him. After getting close to him (close enough he was thinking of living together, maybe marriage in the not-too-distant future), she stole all his money (like…ALL his money, from his safe at home AND from his bank account!) and then she and her daughter left! Ack! What a beyotch! I didn’t like her, but that was mainly because she was coming between Rosewood & Villa. Now? Oh damn. I have to wonder where that story line will go. Will he work to find her? I gotta imagine he will – or at least Villa will!

As for the case itself… It was kind of a heartbreaking one. The precinct – specifically Homicide, where Villa, Rosewood, and Slade were at the time – got taken hostage, and while it was exciting, especially since there were school kids inside, the reason the guy did it was…sort of understandable and very sad. His brother, who we figured out quickly had some mental disorder (I think it was more than just autism or Asperger’s.), had been arrested and was in jail, but the hostage taker truly believed his brother was sick, since he wasn’t normally violent. Fortunately, Rosie pushed and finally was able to meet with the brother, and he did indeed have something medically wrong, which was causing the violent temper. The hostage taker and his girlfriend/accomplice and the other accomplice (who was just in it because the guy said he could get him into the evidence room) still had to go to jail, but at least his brother was going to get the help he needed.

On tonight’s episode, “Mummies & Meltdowns,” the team is thrown for a loop when the mummified body of a notorious music producer is found on a yacht. Meanwhile, Rosewood is forced to deal with a shocking revelation about Tawnya.

To see how Rosewood deals with the shock of his stolen money, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Grimm, Last Man Standing, MacGyver, Hawaii Five-0, & Blue Bloods.

Recap/Review – Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – 1/6/17

This week we have a double dose of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The first episode (titled: “Who Is Josh’s Soup Fairy?”) showed off Rebecca’s maternal side while also giving her two things she’s wanted for a while. The second episode (titled: “When Do I Get To Spend Time With Josh?”) brought a new man into her life, which caused a lot of strain on her relationships.

Recap:

In the first episode, a huge bomb is dropped on Paula. Scott admits he slept with Tonya (the girl from work who obviously has a huge crush on him). Paula kicks him out and then becomes stressed about the decision because she’s now basically a single mother. At work, Rebecca thinks Paula is upset about their continuing feud, but the normally silent Mrs. Hernandez gives Rebecca a major dose of the truth.

Rebecca shows up at Paula’s house and apologizes for real and offers to watch her youngest son, Tommy, while Paula goes on a school field trip. Paula tries to talk Rebecca out of it (knowing she’s in for a rude awakening), but Rebecca insists. Rebecca jumps into a song called “So Maternal,” in which she performs an “Uptown Funk”-esque number about how even though she has no experience as a mom, she is as maternal as they come. When the song ends and we get back to the real world with Paula’s house a mess and Rebecca exhausted, we realize she bit off more than she could chew.
