suits224smallLast week on Suits, the event that we’ve been building to over the last four and a half seasons finally kicked off: Mike’s trial for impersonating a lawyer. Harvey and Jessica had convinced Mike to do a practice mock trial in front of the firm, and the proceedings led to some intense moments between Harvey and Mike. However, the mock trial was interrupted by Anita Gibbs, who showed up to announce that she had gotten the trail date moved up. Meanwhile, Harvey’s plan to ship Sheila out of the country so she couldn’t testify backfired, and Gibbs threatened to go after him for witness tampering if Sheila didn’t return from Argentina. At the trial, Gibbs put Donna on the stand, and she was forced to plead the fifth so as to not incriminate herself, which didn’t look good for Mike. Harvey was able to score some points by convincing Mike’s former client Jimmy to testify that Mike went to Harvard with him (which was a total lie). Gibbs tried to convince the jury that Jimmy was perjuring himself, but did she do enough?

Things aren’t looking great for Mike – he needs to be able to testify but not end up on the stand himself. He wants to switch and represent himself, as this will allow him to not only achieve that but also help the jury see him as a lawyer. However, will he and Harvey be able to convince the judge to allow them to make this switch? Even so, do they have a chance at winning this case? Will Louis crumble under Gibbs’s pressure and make a deal with her in exchange for immunity? It’s amazing that a show can still be this tense and enjoyable five seasons in. I never thought we’d actually get to this case, but I’m so glad we have, because this has been really exciting to watch!

On tonight’s episode, “Tick Tock,” Louis considers Anita Gibbs’s offer to turn on his compatriots; Rachel advises Mike on how to win hearts and minds in the courtroom; Donna begs Harvey to not do anything rash, while Jessica thinks he should; and Harvey and Mike contemplate a new strategy.

Catch more of the trial of the year tonight on USA Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, black-ish, Arrow, Supernatural, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, Man Seeking Woman, Face Off, Younger, and Teachers.

suits127smallTonight, Suits returns for its fifth season winter premiere on USA Network. Last summer, things came to a head as there was a big power struggle at the firm. Jack had called for the partners to make a vote of no confidence to remove Jessica. Louis tried to figure out what Daniel was holding over Jack in order to coerce this move, but when Daniel got wind of this, he threatened that if Louis didn’t also vote along with Jack, he would have a client make a hostile takeover of Louis’s sister’s business and dismantle it. At the vote, Harvey showed that he had also been busy trying to find a solution, announcing that one of Daniel’s biggest clients had just dropped him. He then pleaded Jessica’s case, and she won by unanimous vote. Afterwards, Jessica tried to talk Harvey out of leaving the firm, but he insisted on sacrificing himself for everything that had happened. Meanwhile, Mike handed in his own resignation to Harvey. But as the two hugged it out, the police showed up at the office to arrest Mike for conspiracy to commit fraud.

Who turned Mike in? Will he somehow be able to get out of this? Will any of the others be indicted as well for their part in covering up Mike’s actions? And what will this mean for Pearson Specter Litt?

On tonight’s episode, “Blowback,” Jessica and Harvey must figure out how to defend Mike, despite knowing that he’s guilty of the crime he’s accused of committing. Leslie Hope guest stars.

See if Jessica and Harvey can get Mike off the hook tonight on USA Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Criminal Minds, Arrow, Supernatural, Man Seeking Woman, Face Off, Younger, and Teachers.

colony114smallI am excited by wary about tonight’s premiere of Colony on USA Network. It has a great cast, an interesting premise, but I’m always leery about dramas if they aren’t procedurals, since I’m not actually sure I watch any right now… *laugh* From Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Ryan Condal (Hercules), this show centers on one family’s struggle to survive and bring liberty back to the people of an occupied Los Angeles. Josh Holloway (Lost) stars as former FBI agent Will Bowman, and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead, Prison Break) stars as his wife, Katie. This L.A., set in the near future, is dangerous and full of divided ideologies. Those who go along with the occupation and new “order” can benefit, but others rebel and suffer the consequences. Will and Katie have to figure out how to keep their family together and safe, but things will quickly go awry. And that should make things very interesting!

I loved Josh Holloway on Intelligence. He’s sexy, so that doesn’t hurt, but he’s just fun to watch regardless. And I really loved Sarah Wayne Callies on Prison Break. So put the two of them together, and I’m more than a little excited. Add in Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist) and Peter Jacobson (House), and I’m set. It also stars Tori Kittles, Alex Neustaedter, and Gonzalo Menendez.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Will attempts a daring rescue to find his son, Katie takes a risk to help her sister, and a job opportunity for Will may divide their family.

Don’t miss the premiere tonight on USA Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Angel from Hell, Beat Bobby Flay, & Top Chef.

chicagofire1110smallI’m a sucker for emotional moments on a show while it still has moments of excitement. Chicago Fire has had all those moments lately, moving it to the top of my must-see list quickly. Last week, we watched as Casey and Dawson lost their baby after she was rushed into surgery for a miscarriage and internal bleeding. It was heartbreaking to watch, but I loved the end, where Casey assured Dawson that they were back together because he loved her and needed her, not because of the baby. On the arson case, the missing files were recovered, and it was discovered that it was Duff who had stolen the files because he needed money. His guilt caused him to try to commit suicide, but Severide saved his life. Through this all, we got to see the firehouse yet again band together to take care of each other, showing us all why this is the house to be in. As a side note, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD were both renewed for next season yesterday. Yay!

On tonight’s episode, “Regarding this Wedding,” after a fire ruins a neighborhood wedding, Boden steps up to host the ceremony at the firehouse. That’s much to the chagrin of his boss, Chief Riddle, whose political aspirations have caused friction from within the firehouse. Meanwhile, Dawson, who returns to the house, also butts heads with Riddle over her ability to perform and is forced to defend herself despite Boden’s support. Severide finds himself fighting for his way back to his old position, and Capt. Patterson is caught between loyalty toward leadership and loyalty to his colleagues.

To see if Boden can stand against the powers that be to maintain his house, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching NCIS, NCIS: NOLA, Chopped, The Voice, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Scream Queens, Limitless, and Wicked City.

playinghouse98smallTonight, the (too short) second season of Playing House comes to a close with a double-dose of episodes. Last week, Maggie and Emma headed to Lake Kimmewah to spend the weekend together at their childhood vacation spot. It was the annual Kimmewah Kup paddle boat race, and the girls planned to beat their old nemeses the Custerman twins (played by the Sklar brothers). However, Maggie got upset that Emma was distracted during their gals weekend, constantly texting and calling her boyfriend Rabbi Dan. And when Dan showed up at the cabin, things only got worse. But, as always, the girls talked it out — their friendship can overcome any hurdles!

All I can say is that I love this show. It always makes me laugh out loud, and the relationship between Maggie and Emma feels so natural and real. They make you wish you were part of their world. If you haven’t checked out this show, what are you waiting for?! You can really jump in with any episode and also catch up via On Demand. I really hope tonight’s episodes aren’t the last 2 episodes of the series…and that USA won’t make us wait until December again to find out if the show’s coming back!

On tonight’s first episode, “Officer of the Year,” Emma organizes a policeman’s ball with help from Maggie and Rabbi Dan; Mark doesn’t have a date. And then in “Celebrate Me Scones,” Maggie surprises Emma with tickets to a special concert; and an old friend returns.

Catch the last two episodes of the season tonight on USA Network at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Zoo, Hollywood Game Night, and Face Off.
